Avatar f tn I recently changed the tape on my handlebars to cloth and am hopeful.
Avatar m tn What concerns specifically relating to the surgery should I be aware of before attempting this (other than falling with an outstretched arm)? Will maneuvering the bike/handlebars have that much of an impact or am I overlooking something else?
6306001 tn?1380360282 First of all: It is completely normal to be afraid of/thinking about death, and in your case, I guess you just need to give it time, and then your fear will disappear. Surround yourself with people, or what ever helps you. You need to find out, when and where these thoughts occur. Im not a professional, but these are just my thoughts.
Avatar n tn Got the same thing from a face plant off a bike, caused by handlebars.
Avatar n tn t get an MRI to find out and is living with a dangly useless arm (except that he can still grip his handlebars, so he still rides), 2 broken vetebrae, and an enormous hematoma over his entire abdomen and left side of his body.
Avatar m tn ago i had an accident where i was riding some trails and hit a rock and flew over my handlebars and hit a tree. I did go to a doctor to get checked and said i might have nerve damage but they never found any. I can get an erection for about 10 min. but lose it when i have intercourse with my girlfriend even oral. But if i stroke myself i can stay erect i bit longer. Also i had a mild stroke in 2006 i have seen a lot of meds.
Avatar m tn I launched over the handlebars of my bike about 10 hours ago, landed on outstretched arms, and at ER was xrayed and diagnosed with radial head fracture left arm. Sprinted and in sling, have taken 2.5 norco in last 8 hours. I am wondering if the pain I am feeling is normal. It is a bearable pain sitting still but if I make even the slightest movement with that arm it is excruciating, has made me scream out, worst pain ever.
Avatar f tn I have degenerative disc disease - cervical and lumbar and moving into thoracic and the 's' region - and spondylosis with myelopathy also in those areas. The degenerative aspect is causing the spondylosis to spread up and down my spine and will eventually, in the not to distant future, meet in the middle.
1396846 tn?1332459510 On top of my relapse, I had to attend a funeral for a dear friend who lost his battle with cancer. Then yesterday my DS wrecked his bike and his handlebars when into his rib/stomach. Took him to urgent care, they sent us to Childrens Hopsital in Cincinnati.
Avatar n tn ( My pain is so bad I need to be on Ibuprofen around the clock
Avatar n tn During a visit to the ER with my son (fell off bike and landed - ribs first - on handlebars), they needed to take his shorts down to examine his abdomen. He at first resisted but it needed to be done quickly so I helped loosen his belt and he kept insisting he wanted to do it by himself. To my shock, he was wearing a pair of his older sister's underwear (she's 10) over his own underwear. I didn't say anything to him right then and there but when the Dr.
Avatar f tn If you need someone to speak to, just add me as friend. I dont know what you have been through, but I know, that there is someone who cares about you, and love you. You are going through a hard time, I promise you, it WILL get better.
Avatar m tn Good for you! Yeah, I did a lot of walking today... It was hot, like 90 degress... But it felt good to get moving. Good for you!
Avatar m tn This indeed sounds like ocd, but maybe a mild form (hopefully). Im advicing that you seek a proffesional, if you feel like it is effecting your life, so you can learn how to control it.
Avatar n tn , because it frequently happens in bicyclists who sustain repeated shocks and bouncing that can occur while holding the handlebars when riding. Other activities that involve stress on the hands and wrists may also irritate the ulnar nerve and cause ulnar neuropathy. Another possible cause of your symptoms include a herniated disc affecting a portion of the nerves that eventually form the ulnar nerve (specifically the area involved would be a nerve root, the C8/T1 nerve root).
655875 tn?1295695107 I can do the 20,0000 steps and then some during the week, but I need to break it up. I also need to hold onto the handlebars on the treadmill to support my shoulders from moving too much, which irritates the herniated discs in my neck. I can walk up to an hour slowly on the treadmill. I miss running dearly. What are your thoughts?
Avatar m tn Last week I took a pretty violent over the handlebars mountain biking crash. Went to the urgent care here and had x-rays taken and after was referred to an Ortho but his office would not see me. No insurance and don't have the $$$ The urgent care Doc was very nice but not sure on the grade of separation or exact severity of my ac shoulder tear / rupture. Posting my x-ray (LEFT SHOULDER) hoping that someone can tell me if it's something that I should seek further help for.
1524304 tn?1326396974 I got bruises on my left shoulder and left hip and both knees and had mild pain in my right wrist possibly from being hardly pushed onto my left wrist from holding onto handlebars. And there were bit of mild pain-like sensation in my tailbone . Last year I was sitting a lot- more than usual. I moved and then winter and work and all made me more sedentary than usual (also i bought computer) and by the time of fall I had pain when I was sitting for long time.
447939 tn?1235061943 Let me tell you about what happened yesterday- I was riding my Honda CRF450r (dirt bike) when a deer ran out in front of me causing me to slam on the brakes almost flipping over the handlebars. I was going WAY too fast. This HAPPENED TO ME. Just because this happened to me, does NOT mean that it will ever happen to you. Relax. If you hear hoofbeats coming down the road, look for horses, NOT zebras. Don't worry about what happened to someone else.

Again it is difficult to tie your head and elbow symptoms together, and they are likely unrelated.
419158 tn?1316571604 Well as we speak he just fell off his scooter, he was climbing on the handlebars, lol. The weird thing is he doesnt get hurt! Chantal- I feel like im going to have a heart attack!! I would be happy if he just started climbing on the couches like Jeremiah. I really wish I didnt have to worry about him going up the stairs but everytime time I turn my back he is up the steps! It gives me quite a work out, lol. As for the gate around the table................my whole house is open.
1431839 tn?1290812315 When the car hit me the bumper hit me right on the calf and I flew through the air and landed upside down on my head and handlebars and I knew as soon as I hit the ground that my lower leg had been fractured. The first x-rays showed a displaced fracture of the fibula about 2/3 of the way up the calf. The displacement seemed to me rather severe, with about 1/2 to 2/3 of the bone not joining up with the other bone, and the upper bone (where the car hit) seemed to be pushed inward.
Avatar m tn On the other hand, it is also possible he may have discovered you had some C7-T1 nerve injury, which controls the muscle dexterity of the hands and fingers and the flexion in the wrist, and thus holding onto the handlebars of a motorcycle would not be reliable.
Avatar m tn I went into a curb sideways and went over the handlebars landing on my left shoulder, However as I landed the saddle struck (very hard) my right lower abdomen (inguinal region). It was quite painful at the time, and felt very week as if I could not move my right leg to push the peddles, so walked the rest of my journey. The area was painful for a few days, but then everything seemed fine.
Avatar m tn You should have that looked at but in the meantime I would suggest buying those handlebars that you can use to do pushups. That will allow you to keep your wrist straight while doing push ups and relieve the pressure on your wrist. Hope that helps.
Avatar m tn My husband had just purchased a new bicycle for me and I was unable to control my upper body to turn the handlebars even 1 inch to negotiate a turn. I began shaking so profusely that the bike was waivering back and forth as well. I had to get off and walk the bike back to the house. This flare up of symptoms has lasted a week so far this time. Today I have a stiff feeling in my shoulders and back still.
739070 tn?1338603402 t get into the habit of leaning forward, stand as straight as you can. Also, be sure to have the handlebars at a good height, definitely not too low (contributes to that leaning forward movement). I have one a friend loaned me when we went to a craft fair out on farmland (rolling ground, pot holes, no place to sit down) - and have since just given it to me since her mother no longer could use it.
Avatar f tn , because it frequently happens in bicyclists who sustain repeated shocks and bouncing that can occur while holding the handlebars when riding. Other activities that involve stress on the hands and wrists may also irritate the ulnar nerve and cause ulnar neuropathy. This is best diagnosed with a study called EMG/NCS, which tests how nerves conduct electricity and how muscles respond. Treatment involves reducing movements that irritate the nerve, and in some cases surgery.
