1555914 tn?1296474056 If it is, you may want to ask your doctor about using a spacer. A spacer is a tubular chamber that holds the inhaler in one end while the other is the mouth piece. It makes developing the propper technique much easier and also allows much more of the medication to make it into the lungs. Respiratory therapists insist that their patients use them. Take care and feel better.
Avatar m tn I am so used to my birth control that I always start on or around the time of my spacer pills. This month I started my period at the time of my spacer pills on Dec. 9th. It was a normal 6 day/regular flow period for me ending on the 15th. To my surprise I started again on Christams Eve... Dec. 24th. So from the end of one period, to the beginning of another was only 9 days apart. It is currently day 10 of this second period. The first 7 days were just as a normal period...
Avatar n tn In the x-ray room, my daughter went hysterical therefore the nurse held her by the jaw to prevent her from struggling, pulled the x-ray’s cone right up besides her mouth and took the X-ray shot. The cone was not attached to a long spacer. In fact, I’m not even sure if there was a short spacer. It just looks like an integrated part of the X-ray. The X-ray machine was not digital and I am unsure what film-speed it uses (D, E or F speed).
Avatar f tn So that when her other teeth start to fall out there will be space for them to come in. Since we put in the maint-fixed bilateral spacer the space where to canine teeth are suppose to be has almost closed. I have went and seen the dentist because the wire pushes on the bottom four front teeth which are all adult teeth. The bilateral spacer in on her first molars (not premolar). My question is should it be removed or is it normal for the space to close? And how are the spacers usually removed?
Avatar n tn My dentist easily put in a spacer tooth, that only adhered to the side of the teeth beside it. It cost very little. It was attached with glue on the sides i believe and with a thin coat of material on the back of the teeth (on the spacer and one tooth on either side). It is not noticeable, nor can you feel the material on the back of the teeth serving to join them. The only problem was that the natural teeth colored, whereas this floating spacer did not, it stayed very white.
Avatar n tn He had a spell in hospital last year for a couple of days and is now taking a preventative Clenil 50 inhaler one puff am and pm. He takes this with a spacer. I am breastfeeding my two year old. Sometimes when I administer the inhaler, as he breathes in and out I can smell or taste the medicine. I usually assume that the amount going into me is minute as it's coming out into the air although I usually try to duck out of the air flow!
920032 tn?1550680156 I sympathize with your issues on finding meds that work. I also cannot take the dry powders. The technique for using them is different than other inhalers. If your doctor didn't train you well on how to use them, that could be part of the problem you had. Also, the fact that they are powder and the powder settles on the vocal cords and other parts of the respiratory tract causes irritation. That makes me cough constantly as well.
Avatar m tn In November, had hip pain with a recurrent infection. Both implants were removed and an antibiotic spacer was put in. Started on iv Cefa in a Pikk line 3 times daily for 6 wks. It was a non resistant Staph, still sensitive to Cefa. Off antibiotics for 2 weeks, inflammatory markers were normal. Slides taken during the revision when they replaced the metal implants on Jan 12 '10 showed less than one WBC per high power field.
1468681 tn?1286511575 If you are using these products 1) Have your doctor check your technique as inpropper inhalation rate can cause the medicine to drop on the tongue and cause the irritation. You could also ask to try a spacer with the medication. That might require a change of prescription as the dry powder medications can't be used with a spacer. You will need one of the Hfa forms. 2) Rinse your mouth out very well after using them. I gargle and then brush my teeth.
Avatar m tn I know my child needed a spacer when he had a baby molar removed, is there a permanent spacer or something along those lines? I am not a vain person, I just don't want things to get worse. Can I have the tooth removed now and how much time do I have to make a decision?
Avatar f tn I developed infection to which I underwent surgery to clean out the infection which was unsuccessful and later underwent the removal of the replacement and antiseptic spacer was put in for 6 weeks and then I went back to surgery to have that removed and a new replacement put in. At the time of the surgery the addhision were so bad the had to cut the upper muscle in a V shape in order to remove the spacer and then the replacement was put in.
Avatar f tn I had the lumpectomy on September 15 and opted for MammoSite (partial breast irradiation) so I had the catheter and spacer in place. However, the CT scan on September 19th showed the radiation site too close to the edge of the skin. There needs to be a minimum of 5 mm and I only had 4.6 mm. So the spacer and catheter were removed by the bc, the opening was closed with a couple of stitches, and I now am scheduled for the whole-breast radiation treatment.
Avatar f tn However, my pain became worst so I was sent to a pain management doctor who know has me on 15mg OxyContin and 15mg morphine er. I have been on fentanyl, embeda and opana, Right now I have a spacer in my right knee because the staph infection was so severe they could not put in a knee yet so I still have one more surgery to go. My problem is the morphine er is not working or lasting so I have started taking 30mg of morphine with still no relief.
Avatar m tn That's interesting. I don't think there's an exact billing code for something like removing a spacer I don't think. I suppose if you haven't seen a dentist in awhile, then getting an insurance plan would be the ideal way to go. I would recommend getting a PPO plan though, not a HMO plan.
Avatar n tn Yes it still could be. Try cleaning the area out as much as you can with floss, brushing and mouthwash gently. But I would still recommend seeing a dentist in case there's something causing it. I had a patient once who had a spacer stuck under the gums and that cause pain and swelling. I'm pretty sure the mom had a talk with their orthodontist later on.
Avatar f tn If it happens a lot try a different steroid. Always use a spacer. Always rinse after.
Avatar f tn My sister has gauges and an eyebrow ring and she took all her peircings out exept her eyebrow spacer (plastic bar) and her doc did not make her remove it for the birth.
5038240 tn?1370648512 re breastfeeding that will naturally delay your period. Exclusive breastfeeding is a natural child spacer. Some women who have nursed a baby exclusively until he/she was even two years old, have not had their period return until then. If you're bottle feeding tho, ignore me. Don't know about that.
215461 tn?1331862765 I tend to agree about getting asecond opinion, as well as checking into the sinus issues. While it's quite common to have worse asthma troubles whenever sick (I do also), the fact that you say he has NO problems at other times with coughing and/or shortness of breath, does make me wonder if he does not actually have asthma. He may have what they refer to as "reactive airway" - basically meaning when his airways are irritated by illness, that's when his symptoms occur.
Avatar f tn I went in and had a PKR(medial) and within 8 weeks, the complete PKR failed. Both components had broken lose and the spacer shot out. The same surgeon took me back in and revise the PKR, 5 days later the spacer shot out and lodged in the medial side of my knee. It hurt so bad I could barely walk. I took my medical records and went to another surgeon. Come to find out, the 1st surgeon had cut too much away from my tibia and there was no way that it was going to work.
