Avatar m tn At this point, I’m considering whether the muscles and joints in my neck were injured in the accident, causing trigger points to form which have simply not be dealt with properly since that time. From what I’ve read, trigger points can certainly refer headache pain to the areas where I usually experience headaches. However, I am uncertain about the dizziness involved. My question is: Does anybody with trigger points in the neck also suffer with symptoms of dizziness or vertigo?
Avatar f tn m curious if others suffer from what seems like a muscle knots in the shoulder blade area. Since I became ill with Lyme, I have noticed trigger points in my back that send weird sensations down my arms. It almost feels like an electrical like sensation that drives me crazy. I have tried going to a chiropractor and am currently trying some physical therapy with massage. Nothing seems to really help.

Avatar f tn Tapping techniques where you tap on some specific trigger points on your wrist and forehead, NO CAFFEINE and cut waaaay back on sugar to little or none. You also need to RELAX! Find ways to calm your mind and body however you can, make time for yourself in a quiet room and do your breathing techniques or meditate. Excercise also helps a lot because it releases positive endorphins into your body. Laughing (even fake laughing) and singing also release those same endorphins so try that.

Avatar f tn Just wanted to post a quick update: I had my hot stone massage today and it was fabulous. I didn't realize how many trigger points I had in my neck and scapula until the massage therapist found them all. The heat didn't bother me at all. The only problem was that it ended after only 50 minutes. I could have stayed there forever! I wish insurance would pay for massages!
Avatar f tn These are known as 'trigger points'. I have the same sensations at points on my hips and my neck. When any pressure is applied it feels like a surge of electricity goes through me...and it's quite painful. We don't know why those with FMS have trigger points. It sounds like what you are experiencing is referred pain. When pressure applied to one area, effects another area on the body.
Avatar m tn You will know if the masseuse/masseur has located your active trigger points because when she/he applies pressure to the area it will reproduce your burning sensation. In the meantime you can help yourself by laying on tennis balls. If the active trigger point is in the serratus posterior superior muscle (under the scapula) you must position your arm across your chest so your shoulder blade moves out of the way.
Avatar m tn If they can clearly see you're pregnant they know not to massage you hard enough to trigger those points. I asked at the nail salon & a nurse.

Avatar m tn For many years now, I’ve suffered from headaches and vestibular symptoms (dizziness and at times more severe vertigo). I believe that these symptoms could be a result of trigger points in my neck and shoulders. Trying to find doctors who are experts at treating trigger points in these areas has been difficult. My question is: Has anyone found a doctor with some expertise in giving trigger point injections, particularly in the neck area, and was your treatment successful?

Avatar f tn A foot massage machine, should be perfectly fine. The trigger points are directly behind the ankle, i doubt a machine will cause you to go into labor.
Avatar m tn Trigger point massage isn't the same thing as deep tissue massage. Deep tissue massage goes very deep into muscles, and it hurts. Trigger point massage also hurts, but not as much. For you, it helped and was relaxing afterward. For others, it doesn't help at all -- there's no medical evidence that shows massage actually does anything, but you can't tell that to anyone who has had one and felt a lot better for a while.

It can be a long process (months). My carpel tunnel from triggerpoints in my forarms is now 75% better after six months of trigger release. I had it for 15 years though!. A year ago I had trigger points all over my body, now 75% better! No pain meds anymore either.

Avatar f tn Massage is just not recommended in ur 1st trimester. My doc encouraged me to get a massage. Just make sure it's prenatal massage bcuz there are trigger points and aromatherapy that u want to avoid while pregnant.
Avatar f tn Pedicure and massage can send you into labore. There are pressure points that actually trigger contractions. For that reason, a lot of places will not give pedicures or massage to pregnant women. I actually went in for a prenatal massage and was turned away because I was in my 3rd trimester.
393986 tn?1303825975 Has anyone ever gotten over myofascial trigger points? The pt for mtp is flaring up my fibro. Is there any suggestions on other ways to deal with it? I would also like to suggest the medication gabapentin for pain relief, it is a lot like Lyrica but a lot cheaper. Also I would like to know has anyone ever had high protein in blood tests?
Avatar f tn It seems like it is fine to do them except as you get closer to the end of your pregnancy. There are massage points on your ankle from what I am told that will trigger labor. To be honest with you, I haven't had once since I found I'm pregnant.
Avatar f tn I will not do them on anyone who is less than 35 weeks. Only being that during a massage of any kind there are trigger point or pressure points t that can start labor. Also if someone has hbp I won't. But other than that they are very enjoyable if done right.

Avatar f tn I was reading something on another website about some people who were abandoning traditional pain management and doing something involving doing something with certain "trigger points" in the body. Some of these people were finding it works for them. Does anyone know about this theraphy and what kind of pain it works for? I imagine its more beneficial to those with centralized pain like lower back, and not all over pain like fibro. I can't find the article now.
