Avatar m tn It would be great if i didnt have to use marijuana and break the law, and could legaly use marinol and feel normal.
Avatar f tn Is it of your opinion that Marinol can be an alternative drug to treat Multiple Sclerosis? I cannot handle shots, and I know there are many side effects from the shots.
Avatar f tn Marinol is THC or "Medical" Marijuana. People with ADHD who use it are self medicating and (possibly) avoiding the issue of treating the real problem. I am sure that it makes them feel better. And there are probably "shops" out there that will "prescribe" it for you. As far as I know, no legit psychologist or psychiatrist would do so.
Avatar m tn just just have to get through it. Wanting to turn to another drug to ease the w/ds from the first drug is how people stay stuck on the merry-go-round.
Avatar m tn I took 1 2.5 mg Marinol cap about 2 weeks ago. I don't do drugs. The pill was taken by mistake. Am I positive for THC?
Avatar n tn t be a concern. Even for a job drug screen...unless you perform a job where use of that kind of med is absolutely prohibited....if you test + and have a valid current prescription, it isn't a problem. Just a sneaking suspicion, but if you are planning on seeking less than "honest" ways of obtaining this med (ie online, etc)...be VERY careful. What you find on the street and online can often be NOT the same thing....
Avatar m tn THC in the brain works on the cannaboid system, making it a unique drug with many untouched applications. Marinol takes 2.5-3 hours to be absorbed and have an effect. The effects last only about 3 hours. See below for details on this limitation. I am a PhD scientist and engineer with cancer, autoimmune and have bipolar. The following is from personal experience plus scientific investigation. Feel free to share. Consider a good pain med like hydrocodone (or other opioid) for pain in Stage 4.
163305 tn?1333668571 There's a form of marijuana in pill form... it's called MARINOL (Dronabinol). I was put on it when I lost 40lbs as a side-effect of taking another medication. The side-effect of MARINOL, is that it gives you the munchies and MAKES you want to eat. Gained the weight back slowly, and stopped taking it. Makes me wonder why they went all-out, and went the actual marijuana route, instead of trying MARINOL first.
Avatar m tn My dad takes oxycodone 15mg/ oxycontin 20mg/ marinol 2.5mg/ and ibuprofen 220mg Marinol is synthetic marijuana and it is doing wonders for his back pain. But if this is the case then shouldn't he theoretically be able to go off of the oxy's? I am so confused. Doctors don't tell me about liver or kidney protection and that is one of my first concerns.
Avatar f tn Is Marinol pills good to use in kids who have seizures from Chiari malformation type 1
Avatar m tn I have liver cirrhosis and when I became ill, my doctor prescribed Marinol for weight gain. I had lost 85 lbs and gained 30 pounds with this treatment. My doctor discontinued the Marinol and my weight decreased. I am 6'2" tall and am considering smoking marijuana to achieve the weight gain I am comfortable with. Will this method injure my liver further or have no real effects to it?
Avatar f tn I don't know why your levels would go up before they went down, I don't even get why they would continue testing you like that, I don't remember my OB testing me for drugs, or at least he didn't say anything to me about it but I was also supposed to be taking Marinol (which is the legal pharmacological version of marijuana) because of stomach disorders I suffer from that cause me tons of severe chronic nausea/vomiting, extreme weight loss, and even severe to debilitating chronic
Avatar f tn I'm a 58-year-old white female who has had S.L.E. for approximately 35 years. My primary manifestation is severe and debilitating nausea. I also now have heart involvement and am pacer dependent. I have an excellent gastroenterologist. He and other doctors have said that it's a very difficult case to treat. It is unusual as it is marked by very few remissions and has become drug resistant. On a typical day I will wake up with severe nausea, and it sometimes lessens after 3-4 hours.
Avatar m tn I have been treated for Chronic pain post Cancers and therapies, and I am very tolerant to any Opiates. I would like to try using Marinol (synthetic THC) for pain; it helped my pain as well as my nausea when I went through my Stem-cell Transplant. I am in Athens, GA; does anyone know of a doctor willing to prescribe this medicine for pain (when you have not been diagnosed with a cancer...yet?
Avatar m tn I also suffer from chronic back pain and use .25mg of Oxycodone when needed. I also use a drug called Acyclovir 200mg daily to control herpes virus. My concern is that these drugs may effect the treatment with Sovaldi/Olysio. I want to beat this virus this time! My Dr. knows of the drugs I take but doesn't seem concerned about their use while on treatment. I know a side effect of the treatment can be insomnia and am concerned my insomnia will worsen without use of the Xanax/Ambien.
620048 tn?1358018235 Thanks Bob, I agree with you, a lot of other drugs are so much worse on you. I have now tried it a few times and I have had different reactions every time. It seems to be as unpredictable as my MS. I would never smoke it due to my lung problems but a friend grows his for medical reasons and this last time he mixed it with Hershey bars. I really have not seen that it really helps me.
527890 tn?1263783127 Truvada (HIV meds), Marinol (appetite), Valium (stress from the pain), and Percocet (started for peripheral neuropathy). My percocet use over the past few years has dramatically increased due to the non specific body pain I feel in most of my major joint areas, including in order of pain are: back, neck, knees, shoulders, hips, hands, feet over the past few years. Pain is soothed with heating pad, but at time it feels like I am being stabbed especially in behind my knees.
1162446 tn?1262804903 melissakay - yes, medical marijuana is available in pill form by the name of Marinol. It contains THC which is the active ingredient of the marijuana plant. Some people swear it only works for pain and/or nausea control when smoked and won't use the legal Marinol for that reason. I'll admit I tried smoking it myself years ago when I was vomiting several times a day from the worst bowel obstruction I've ever had. (Lost a couple feet of colon from that event.
Avatar f tn The back pain is back and the surgean referred me to PM and gave me the same meds gabapentin and hydrocodone, so I started smoking again otherwise I get sick dont eat, puke bile. PM did a drug test, which I told them about the pot and they said no injections without it but would put me on tramadol due to FDA law.
