If i have a prescription for alprolozam and I take a xanax will it show up differently on a urine test? I realize Alprolozam is the generic version - other than being cheaper than xanax, what other differences are there. Xanax seems to help me relax as where Alprolozam just makes me tired. I have constant joint/muscle pain from Fibromyalgia. How come I can't get a doctor to prescribe me xanax, but they will prescribe alprolozam? Also, how do I get a doctor to prescribe Marinol?

I've read about some people diagnosed with ADD taking marinol as a form of medication. I was wondering what effects it would have when taken with adderall, or as a replacement for other meds. What sort of side effects, and/or lack of side effects to make other meds more effective.

I take marinol for migraines which, it turns out, were due to very high blood pressure 200/120. (No other type of med even touched my BP or pain. I am in perfect physical shape too!) I pay $800/month for 4 2.5 mg (lowest-dose) marinol per day to stay out of pain. Medicare and Humana will not cover marinol for pain or BP since manufacturers have not submitted these applications to the FDA. In addition, dosage and timing are big problems...

I want and need to stop smoking pot but want to avoid the w/d's, need to work etc. It's my understanding Marinol can ease the symptoms considerably. Anyone know how to get it? I tried going to the Dr but he would not prescribe it off-label. Any suggestions?

If there is still no improvement then medicines like megestrol (i.e., Megace) and dronabinol (i.e., Marinol) can be taken.For that a prescription and consultation of a doctor are mandatory. Hi there, I have IBS, I also have cardiomyopathy and pulmonary hypertension. I get severe pain in my abdomen. It is beyond any other pain besides the worst migraine I've ever had. The pain is so bad I usually end up pouring sweat and putting as much pressure on my gut as possible until it passes. I use guided meditation sometimes and that helps a lot. My Dr. has run through all of the standard medications, and many are not available to me because of the cardiac problems.

My dad takes oxycodone 15mg/ oxycontin 20mg/ marinol 2.5mg/ and ibuprofen 220mg Marinol is synthetic marijuana and it is doing wonders for his back pain. But if this is the case then shouldn't he theoretically be able to go off of the oxy's? I am so confused. Doctors don't tell me about liver or kidney protection and that is one of my first concerns.

They are hard to find but typically the doctor you would visit to get your MMJ license renewed would prescribe the opioids or refer you to another doctor that is MMJ Friendly. Another option is for you to ask the doctor for a prescription for Marinol...it is synthetic THC. I should mention that when my mother was dying from cancer, she said that the Marinol wasn't helping her eat, it was only the real marijuana that helped but things may be different for you. Is it of your opinion that Marinol can be an alternative drug to treat Multiple Sclerosis? I cannot handle shots, and I know there are many side effects from the shots.

There's a form of marijuana in pill form... it's called MARINOL (Dronabinol). I was put on it when I lost 40lbs as a side-effect of taking another medication. The side-effect of MARINOL, is that it gives you the munchies and MAKES you want to eat. Gained the weight back slowly, and stopped taking it. Makes me wonder why they went all-out, and went the actual marijuana route, instead of trying MARINOL first.

I have been treated for Chronic pain post Cancers and therapies, and I am very tolerant to any Opiates. I would like to try using Marinol (synthetic THC) for pain; it helped my pain as well as my nausea when I went through my Stem-cell Transplant. I have liver cirrhosis and when I became ill, my doctor prescribed Marinol for weight gain. I had lost 85 lbs and gained 30 pounds with this treatment. My doctor discontinued the Marinol and my weight decreased. I am 6'2" tall and am considering smoking marijuana to achieve the weight gain I am comfortable with. Will this method injure my liver further or have no real effects to it?

Hi all, Since my last post, my daughter got a gtube to match her jtube and had an upright MRI to rule out Chiari malformation (it was ruled out). The gtube stopped her vomiting (it all comes out the gtube now), but daughter still has terrible pain and nausea and diarrhea with jtube feeds. The marinol and promethazine do MOSTLY knock her out so she doesn't feel the pain while feeding, but she wakes up anyway to run to the bathroom with diarrhea and yell from the pain.

I'm a 58-year-old white female who has had S.L.E. for approximately 35 years. My primary manifestation is severe and debilitating nausea. I also now have heart involvement and am pacer dependent. I have an excellent gastroenterologist. He and other doctors have said that it's a very difficult case to treat. It is unusual as it is marked by very few remissions and has become drug resistant. On a typical day I will wake up with severe nausea, and it sometimes lessens after 3-4 hours.

I am thinking of treatment but no way I can tolerate the sx with this crap going on. I live on Zofran and Marinol. I eat as well as I can. (Am 30lbs below normal weight). I have tried anti drepressants almost hoping I was just depressed. I didn't think so but grasping at anything that may bring relief. No relief. I am stressed Hell Yes!
