Marinol for anxiety

Common Questions and Answers about Marinol for anxiety

marinol

Around the same time I started taking it, I started having anxiety attacks. I'd never had them before, so I attributed them to Marinol, I stopped taking it and they went away. My doc told me if it worked well for me, he would increase the dose, but because of the anxiety, I didn't follow up on it, and stopped it altogether I have been on Anzemet ever since, and it controls the nausea pretty well. The use of opiates / opioids for anxiety and depression has been suggested by many doctors and psychiatrists for decades. As a matter of fact, my mother's psychiatrist offered her Lortab(hydrocodone/APAP) for her anxiety, but she didn't want them because they upset her stomach. Ask your doctor and / or psychiatrist if they can subscribe some kind of opiate. It can't hurt to ask because SOME psychiatrists have already begun subscribing narcotic pain meds for anxiety.
it has been a really hard week and today i seen both my mental doctors and left kind of blah..they keep me on all these meds and i get more anxiety and she does try but marinol wasnt an option...i just wish that the stigma would be more talked about so that people could get off meds that are not fit for anything and sure as hell dont need to be flushed into the waste cause then its causing your neighbors kids to have a beard at a year old ..unwanted facial hair on a girl isnt pretty..
I take regular drug test weekly, and within the last 2 months,I have had 2 false postives for opiates ..... I got a confirmation of both test, and they both came up for codeine . The first test 3,000 nanos, the second 6,000 nanos !!!! I am STUNNED !!!!! The only thing that I take is my anxiety meds ( Citilopram,40 MGS) ..... during the first test I took zyertec , and the second an herbal Urinary vit , becuase I thought i had a urinary track infection, which I didnt.....
I know it was on the ballot for several different areas and even in my area on legalizing it for medical purposes or banning it. I looked briefly into it and was impressed by not only how much it may help people (medically) but how carefully it is regulated when it is used medically. It is strictly done in a doctor's office and carefully monitored. It's not like they are going into a back alley somewhere and buying this from drug dealers. They also appear to monitor the amount and usage.
I also got another disorder which contributes to the nausea Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome.. I was actually given a prescription for Marinol the active ingredient in marijuana but that has been some time ago. My state allows for medical cannabis for Hepatitis I just never went that route because I am not sure what my docs would think.
I asked my Dr. about Marinol(pot in a pill) for sx. and he told me that for some people it can be good, but that it is a depresant. I have never known a depressed pot-head personally, but the pill might be different. However in my state it is legal to prescribe this for HCV. But it is expensive.
com/news/2012/01/ryan-s-story-medical-marijuana-and-autism Upon asking her if it will ever be legalized for medicinal use in the state, she said no. I mean, what options do I have left anymore at this point? I can't move out of state right now either (I have 50 bucks in the bank at this moment and my boyfriend who works full time is just as broke), and I really REALLY don't want to go down illegal routes just to make myself a functioning member of society.
many of the things you're asking are question for a doctor. for example...how to get a doctor to prescribe marinol. that's not something this forum is designed to answer. this forum is designed as a support tool for people with anxiety. there are other forums here that deal more specifically with the pain issues you discussed...but they also aren't designed to help you obtain a prescription for certain drugs. they may be useful in finding new treatment directions for your pain, though.
This was actually after my cardiologist thought this would be a good plan for me. So I tried it. The Marinol works fantastic, the marijuana works almost as well too. There's little to no pain when I use it before I usually get an attack, and during an attack, it stops the pain in its tracks. It's really amazing. The problem: The problem is that I HATE the psychoactive effects from it. I actually get very happy and giggly, but I feel disoriented, and worst, out of control.
Hi there - yes, this is a BIG side effect for me. Look at all my posts ;) they are always after midnight. I find a couple things have helped me. One, you can get Ambien prescribed which is a sleep aid. The other thing I tried which has helped the most is Marinol. This is the "pot" pills that are prescribed to cancer patients for nausea and lack of appetite. If you take it an hour before bed, you will usually fall right to sleep.
I've never heard of insomnia being associated with HIV. But anxiety/depression clearly is and can lead to insomnia.
Hello - Can anyone tell me if a hormone imbalance can cause weight loss and swollen lymph nodes? In October 2006 I went to Dr. for unexplained weight loss (9 lbs). Went through a series of test nothing could be found. I was put on Megace and Marinol to increase appetite. Gained back 7 lbs by January. In Febuary 2007 noticed a lump under left ear, not painful, by March the lump was starting to hurt and getting bigger, I now have two more lumps under the chin - finally went to Dr.
CPS of course had to investigate so a caseworker came to our house and interviewed us all and told us the drug and abuse allegations and we both explained to her that we didn't do meth or any drug like that but (and I also showed her my Rx sheet for the Marinol) we told her about the pot use and explained why I wasn't on the Rx instead (when I told her the amount of money I would have had to come up with to get the Rx filled for a 30-day supply I thought she was going to pass out) and I explain
I have cirrhosis of the liver and lost 85 lbs in a short time. My doctor prescribed for me Marinol(synthetic marijuana) which was great. I gained 35 lbs back but my doctor took me off them. Wanting to gain more weight for my 6'2' frame, I began smoking pot that helped me gain another 25 lbs. My question is does anyone know the effects of smoking pot in regards to my liver. It is badly damaged but I would hate to stop my use of marijuana for weight gain.
But we don't really know that. And if you are looking for justification for providing him with the drug you were morally and legally wrong to do so. Not a little bit wrong. One hundred percent wrong. You are operating above your pay grade. I do not have access to this individuals records and have no idea what kind of a "brain injury" he has.
My man is on Lexapro (that takes a while to build up in the system) marinol (that works if you take enough LOL) and Ativan (for a quick fix) He takes 5mg of the Lexapro in the a.m. and another 5 mg about noon, he takes the ativan around 6 at night, or sooner if his day sucks. He skips the Marinol many days. Girl, I know EXACTLY what you are talking about........he looks like your man......he sounds like your man.......and when you touch him he even feels like your man.......
I used marijuana to get thru colon cancer tx a few years back, and I'm using it again now for Hep C tx. Its helpful for nausea, poor appetite and anxiety. Doesn't take much to relieve sx, just a toke or two when things are bad. I could never have got thru cancer tx without it and it sure has helped with Hep C. I use marijuana and ativan as needed and that has got me thru 45 weeks so far! Good luck to your friend. Has she contacted the Lance Armstrong Foundation? (laf.org).
I think smoking weed is your choice. Just don't tell the doctor or nurse. I have heard of others doing it and don't recall if it caused any problems. I do know there were studies that it can affect the liver and cause fibrosis.
Vicks Formula 44M containing Dextromethorphan, and Primatene-M containing perylamine as well as the pain reliever Demerol, and prescription anti-depressant Elavil test positive for opiates up to three days. Even Quinine water can also cause a positive reading for opiates. Poppy Seeds such as the ones on a bagel from your favorite deli, etc. The journal of Clinical Chemistry Vol.33 No.
Smoking marijuana has a energizing and life giving effect. For obvious reasons I need to find a alternative. Have tried several anti depressants and have not found one without undesirable and dibilitating side effects. Smoking pot is not a option. The question is, Is there an alternative way to take THC that is legal. Is it possible to get a product in pill form? Smoking and or eating pot is not a legal option but the benefit of being on THC is remarkable!
what is the treatment besides tylenol for these pain issues and has marinol ever been perscribed for someone who is going through this treatment?
The number of states permitting medical marijuana (23) and recreational cannabis for adults (Washington and Colorado) continues to increase. Short summary—bad idea! As research physicians we present the known adverse health implications of marijuana use. While generally mellow, marijuana users only seem to become angry and agitated when any suggestion is made that their pot use might have adverse consequences.
I tired interferon/riba/victralis but was not cured. I am approved for the new treatment. I was left with anxiety and insomnia from my prior treatment. I take 5mg Ambien and .05mg Xanax in the evenings to help me relax and sleep. I also suffer from chronic back pain and use .25mg of Oxycodone when needed. I also use a drug called Acyclovir 200mg daily to control herpes virus. My concern is that these drugs may effect the treatment with Sovaldi/Olysio. I want to beat this virus this time! My Dr.
Flare-ups of pre-existing >auto-immune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis >and Crohn's Disease are common. Marijuana can mitigate the majority >of these side effects as well as offering effective help to those >patients where alpha-interferon treatment is not indicated.
My husband just came and told me that if today was Monday, he would want me to take him in for blood work. He's on ribavirin and does not tolerate it. He takes neupogen and procrit to keep his levels up. I know his Hemoglobin needs to be between 10 and 13 for him to be taking ribavirin.

Lustman, PhD, Ashok Mallya, MD, Taylor Andrea Lynn, PhD, Rhonda Finney, RN, and Neda M Svrakic In recent years, advocates for the decriminalization of marijuana have cited its purported therapeutic value for an array of illnesses including anxiety disorders, glaucoma, and nausea associated with chemotherapy. Increasing, however, medical evidence suggests that marijuana can be detrimental to both physical and mental health.
