Tell he/she you are willing to take your chances on another med. How long does the numbness and loss of function last each time? Doc can also order you a round of IV steroids to see if that shortens the relapse. Thanks so much for joining us. The rest of us will be along to welcome you and offer their best too. Hoping to help you along with this.
) I plan on asking my doctor about medicine that I can take either on a long-term basis or on a single dose basis after sexual intercourse. My concern is, will this adversely affect my body in any way? Are there long-term effects to worry about, such as complications having children? Please give me as much information as possible. I've researched UTI's everywhere on the internet and I cannot find the answer to this question. I am 26 years old, and am in the same predicament!
How long ago did u last take it and what are ur symptoms? Macrobid really messed me up.
Do you think that maybe the antibiotics haven't completely worked and i should wait a few days or do you suggest i go back to the doctor? how long does it usually take to completely cure an infection? I was reading on the net and it said that it takes between seven days and fourteen days...is that true? The doc said that she thought the infection was spreading to my kidneys because i had a low grade fever and flank pain. But i was feeling fine up until two days ago. Any advice?
I have chronic bladder infections and on long term Macrobid and still get frequent UTIs. I have had 3+ bacteria for the last 2 months despite Cipro and Levaquin. This morning the UTI is back with burning, frequency. They did not do a C&S before Cipro I think because it is always e-coli. What could be wrong with these 2 meds not working?....I am so tired of this pain and burning. I also have had lower back pain and groin pain for the last 2 mos.
I will continue the antibiotic (Macrobid) for as long as I can, just in case it is an infection. It does seem to be helping. Cipro is the only antibiotic I can tolerate for more than a few days but it hasn't worked for my last 2 UTIs. I will look for that IC questionaire if this problem continues.
If you attach it a bit higher than the back and towards the side it helps. It stays hot for 8 hours. How long it is painful depends on how well or how quickly the meds work. Your doctor or pharmacist may be able to answer this question better. Good luck. Hope your pain doesn't last long.
He has no knowledge of Lyme, doesn't care to learn about it and doesn't believe I have Lyme, but is helping me, anyway.....long story. Going to an LLMD is not an option for me at this time. I began taking Macrobid for this disease, 2 months ago. I'm taking 100MG of Macrobid, 500MG of Levaquin & 250MG of Flagyl. I just started taking Flagyl 2 days ago. I'm sure the MG's are low, but my doctor knows I'm very sensitive to meds.
He said I have cronic bladder infection and gave me a standing script. for Macrobid. I have been on and off antibiotics as long as I can remember too. My family doctor,in my last visit, said that the yellow discharge that I thought was from yeast infection, wasn't,he said it is coming from my urethra. the urologist never said anything about the discharge. He said I am fine and just take the med.
I am allergic to Macrobid. Levaquin and Cipro work well for me *usually* Thanks for taking the time to put this together .... this is what it's all about .. helping each other and finding a cure.
I do remember even after taking macrobid i had a very pronounced lumbar pain mainly left side.I felt as if my kidneys were infected as well.I experienced chills but no fever.I did get lab result in rhumatoid factor -28.I am 42yrs.old.My last urinalysis neg. Please help me.
I have no insurance and no GP OR GYN. The ER doctor did a urine test for UTI and pregnancy even though I told her I had been taking Macrobid and I had just had sex only four days ago for first time in months. The tests needless to say were negative, she did a wet mount culture for BV and that too was negative. The doctor decided to give me an IM shot of Rocephin and eight 25mg pills of Azithromycin. I waited in ER for 30 min then was let go.
Had antibiotics thru tx, cipro, macrobid, etc. Macrobid works directly on the bladder. Get a urine culture to see who the culprit is. Mine was E coli and shigella or something like that. short of never having sexual intercourse, I don't know what else to do! I tried the cranberry juice and increasing the H2O, but cant seem to keep up the regimen.
I am trying to decide if I should take the amoxicillin until I go to the doctor on Wednesday!? If the pain gets any worse I will go to the er but hopefully it does not. I am not sure how long I have had it. Everything started in October. A culture came back positive for beta strep but it was low. I was treated with amoxicillin.
I'm glad you are communicating with your dr on this, it has really been a pretty long heal curve. There are a few people that take longer to level off, the bladder does need to "wake back up" but this time frame seems extreme. Are you drinking lots of water to keep your urine diluted? Are you drinking cranberry juice to keep the urethra balanced? Do you lift children or vacuum daily (heavy lifting impacts heal curve). I'm glad the other aspects of repair are healing well!
I now have an appointment with my urologist for Jan. 28. syndismilez, how long have you been cathing? I started in July 07, after an injection of botox to the bladder that was supposed to fix my incontinence worked so well that now I can't pee on my own. Ha! ("laugh to keep from crying" -- the MS motto).
Sounds to me like the Lexapro will enhance the side effects of the HCV treatment and maybe out weigh the benifits ? How bad dose the depression have to be before I take a chance on the possible benifits of lowering my depression . Will the Lexapro help with the Brain pause side effects as well? Any one with any information to help me make this choice would be helpfull . Thank You .
I switched to Macrobid about two months ago and so far I am uti free. You may have to experiment to find what works for you. It's great that your husband is also going with you, but I hope you are able to do this on your own. Practice makes perfect, so dont' be afraid to try and try. You may also need to try different positions -sitting or standing to make this work for you. Whatever you do, do not use a catheter that has missed the mark and been placed in your vagina instead.
Aslo, ive told my doctor before about the weird numbness that travels down my left side, they write it off TO ANXIETY! Well, i take xanax for the anxiety. I only take it at bedtime for sleep. Well, back to sunday! We were in our room packing our stuff and i felt real confused!!!! And these JOLTS kept on and on and on!! I thought i could just DIE!! I wanted to get home in a HURRY so i could climb into bed, take my xanax and NOT deal with this SHOCK THING!!
I have a drug reference book and it does not say you can't take cranberry with septra. I chose the capsules because I did not want the wasted calories with the juice. Good luck with them, they are most annoying, and being on antibiotics does not help.
i don't mean to second guess your dad, and you seem to be in a tight situation with your parents, but most times they do a culture to see what kind of bacteria you have in your urine and pick an antibiotic to treat it from there. it seems most times that it's either cipro or macrobid. so you're taking antibiotic you have around the house? are they helping you at all? make sure the cranberry juice is low in sugar..
I know exactly how you feel. I am sooooo sick of being sick and tired,of taking pills and especially of giving myself injections.Ijust found out yesterday that I now have to inject neupogen(WBC has been at 1.1 for 2 months now and neutriphils dropped drasticly this past month) and from what I am told the sides from that are horrible. Every day seems like something else is failing in my body or my head.
( ... they just don't readily pass and when they do they tend to take forever or do damage (not really) along the way!
I am just getting over a bad UTI, still on Macrobid...Dr. called today and said that my HPV virus that I found out I had less than a year ago has gotten one step worse since being pregnant and they need to do a colposcopy!! I am so scared and worried. Have any of you gone through this??? She said they won't do a biopsy while I'm pregnant, but I'm worried about all of this!! Has anyone gone through this? What was the outcome? My Dr.
You know, I think I just assume that everyone takes this stuff pretty seriously and does the research, but I guess not everyone does. I'm too strong minded to do anything anyone tells me until I understand why. (and by strong minded, I mean stubborn to a fault.) Very timely information about Freud....just today I was debating whether or not to up my anti-d. I think I'll just go slice my face open instead, lol!! Not really, I think Freud was (mostly) a whack.
I have had anxiety (minor) in the past... but never anything like this. Jimbo49 How long did it take for the anxiety of yours to wear off? did your GP prescribe you anything? And did you do anything that made you feel better. I don't get sick very often.. so this is all very scary to me. THank you for taking time out to answer my questions.
Since he has no idea when my endo developed, he also doesn't know how long it'll take for the cyst to grow back. I already tried once after my surgery, but no luck. I'm going to try 2 more times. If I still don't get pregnant, I'm going to probably go on Lupron shots for 6 months. I know there are a lot of side affects, but I have no choice. Surgery was just too painful for me. I can't risk going through another surgery again. After the Lupron, my doctor told me to go on birth control pills.
Hello, I had sex in May with my ex-husband who seemed to have a virus that was going around. I got scratched during sex. I used aloe vera gel to keep from itching or buring becase I exercise alot and I thought the sweat would irritate it. The gel just made it worse...as days passed, I started to get a sore throat, mild body aches, hemorrhoids, sore groin, sensitivity on my thighs. Long story short, got tested at a clinic and I got a positive for HSV 2.
Also, if pre-dosing with ADs allows for their effect to coincide with the start of Interferon injections, how does one know if it’s the Interferon or the ADs affecting psychological changes?
