macrobid and pcn allergy

I am allergic to PCN and Cipro and have been given Nitrofurantoin for 7 days. I am very afraid to take it. Does anyone have any experiences with it or can recommend other meds to take? Thank you for any suggestions!

I was informed that the allergy to PCN does occur oddly enough when one has mono and take the Amoxicillin. Then I had the joint pain after a week in the hospital. It was a migrating arthritis that sometime occurs with the drug reaction to Penicillin. Could you have had Mono? I do have Arthritis years later but ostoarthritis now. Good luck. I do remember that it took me a half a year to recover from the original joint pain related to the drug reaction and Mono combination.

Contracted syphilis 1969, tx'd w/ IM PCN. 1984 severe neurological/systemic sxs. Dx'd & tx'd for neurosyphilis w/ IM PCN (IM 1x/dayx10days; developed PCN allergy). Sxs totally resolved. Few yrs later, sxs re-emerged, progressing to v.severe w/ nasal septal perforation a biopsy of which showed early granuloma and necrosis which along w/ previous blood tests specific for syphilis provided enough info for dx of neurosyphilis.

My allergist did not know what triggered it and I forgot to tell him that I was taking Macrobid. Now by reading all of this online I see that I had an allergic reaction. My lips swelled up and everything. This experience has been horrible.

I and my husband received IV continous infusion Clindamycin treatment times 7 days and the followup testing showed we were both positive with clamydia. I still have pain in my right kidney that I usually have with chronic UTI. I am taking Cipro now for E. facelis but infection will not go away. It is too the point I don't want to have intercourse with my husband. Also did two months of oral macrobid and clarithomycin both I and my husband. Don't know what to do please advise.

I went to the VA where they gave me ten pills and to take two a day, because of my allergy to PCN they didnt want to give me a shot or Z Pack. The discharge is still there?! Could the VA be wrong in the diagnosing? Also, I talked to the lady and she said she had a bacterial infection she noticed a day or two later, could that be the issue for me? How much damage is getting done with so much time going on? I do want to have kids some day.

I have been treated recently with macrobid for a bladder infection and took a single dose of More Milk Plus. My urine is a dark color too, and I have no rashes, bumps or dry skin, but very, very itchy! Please help.

she has seen primary care, infectious disease control and allergy doctos and none of them can tell her what it is or what causes it. Biopsy says bacterial fungus, but steroids and antibiotics not helping.

Hi.. has anyone else taken macrobid for uti?? Is it normal to feel horribly sick with it? How did you all deal with the nausea? My doc gave me reglan but it doesn't seem to be helping and I'm hardly half way with macrobid.. I've been non functional while taking it and it's getting worse every day. Any advise on dealing with it will be appreciated..

I also had an intermittent cough which has not been present for a couple of days. I am allergic to PCN and Sulfa, true allergy with welps all over. I completed my first Z-pack (Azithromycin 250 mg qd, 6tabs) 5 days ago. Still sick. Dr has prescribed another Zpack. Shouldn't he try something else or do a culture and sensitivity on my drainage (which ranges from clear to green and tastes like infection everyday)? Help! I am 16 wks. pregnant and my OB prescribed Macrobid for UTI, i had urinalysis and small amount of blood was noted. I told my OB that my urologist said that im always will have blood in my urine beacuse of hx. of cyst in my kidney so I requested to have urine culture prior to taking Macrobid, my OB is insistant to start the med. since it is going to take awhile for culture results to come back. so im already in my 4rt day of the meds.

My husband, his mom and 3 of his 6 sisters are all allergic to amoxicillin. Could my baby have already developed this allergy in the womb? THE BLEEDING WILL COME OUT IN MY URINE I WANT TO KNOW WILL THE BLEEDING STOP?

This same person has been a few times over the years for allergy skin tests and they tell her that she is only mildly allergic to this or that. The allergist told her that she is in the 20% that do not respond to allergy skin tests meaning that he does not know what she is allergic too but she is and thus she cannot get allergy shots because he does not know what she is allergic too? What is the answer? Have you ever heard of this happening to others?

Was in the ER weekend before last. Diagnosed me with a UTI, and put me on Macrobid 100mg BID. Got a call yesterday, they said my culture reads that the bacteria in my urine is resistant to Macrobid. So apparently they didn't do a Culture and Sensitivity test when I was in the ER like they should have. I had to pay $50 for the Macrobid that I took, that didn't and wouldn't do diddly-squat for my "UTI". I think I was misdiagnosed and mistrated with the Macrobid.

so yesterday I went to the doc and got a Rx for antibiotics (Macrobid) which I had not taken prior to today. Anyways, I took my first dose today as per the instructions, alongside 1000mg of Tylenol and 2 Azo (urinary pain relief), and about 8 hours later, had a violent vomiting spell. I was stopped from taking the macrobid and started on it 2 more times and each time the weakness returned. Is there anyway to fix this? It is getting rather annoying and saddens me cause it feels like i cant do anymore what i like to. If anyone has had the same thing happen, please let me know im not alone... How can the weakness and numbness be stopped.

I had a nasty case of BV and the Dr gave me Macrobid and it cleared it up. Thats by prescrirtion only . As for the yeast infection they have a pill called Flagyl its extermely potent and will kill the yeast infection. The monostat in my opinion don't help too much. Also my Dr told me its not recommended to have sex during BV and yeast infection . IT can be transmitted to your male partner if you use a condom and it breaks.

I was proscribed it. I habe two different drs and im.being induced monday. And it DIRECTLY states dont use it 37 weeks or later or close to delivery. .. im scared and this pregnancy is so freaking hard on me. Im getting to the point of giving up. And i dont want to cause my boy and family need me to fight.

I just got done taking mine on sunday and everything was fine.

I was the same way with my 1st. I have 5 now though and have taken that and all my little ones were very healthy at birth. You will feel better after the 1st or 2nd pill.
