lyrica

1252153 tn?1269094321 As she said, our FDA is notoriously slow and does watch European patients reactions, side effects and so forth before they approve medications for use in the USA. I hope this medication is proving beneficial for you. Thank you for keeping us updated.
1286779 tn?1400012806 She went to a doctor yesterday about her hair and the doctor told her that it was because of this medication (Lydrica) But I have seen all side effects and none talk about hair lost. And my mother does not want to leave this medication because its the only one that works for her burning feet. Has anybody else expirence hair loss with Lydrica? She also takes Cymbalta 60mg,lyrica 75mg, Nexuim 40mg, and Tramabol 50mg. What do you all suggest she get tested for ?
Avatar f tn That same claim would imply that side-effects (ie the effects other than the main-effect of pain relief) should stay relatively constant too - which is contradicted by the fact that side-effects do generally fade over time. My reasoning is that since most side-effects diminish over time (eg a month or so), the human body must be adapting to the pregabalin in some manner.
1686743 tn?1306005451 I have taken lyrica for about a year now. I take a low dose as I cannot handle the side effects when I increase it. The does does not take away the pain but does just take the edge off so that I function. I also take tramadol which helps a lot! Good luck to you and I am sorry the doctor made such an error...
Avatar f tn Prozac (fluoxetine) and Lyrica (pregabalin) (Moderate Drug-Drug) MONITOR: Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. MANAGEMENT: During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially excessive or prolonged CNS and respiratory depression.
1345254 tn?1325918041 I was on a lyrica regiment for about 6 months and in regard to side effects, never had any adverse reactions that were of concern. At first the Dr started me on gabapentin (neurontin), but that stuff really messed with me. Within a week, I'd wake in the mornings horribly dizzy..It would take me a couple hours just to get feeling somewhat normal. So the Dr switched me to the lyrica..
217229 tn?1192762404 I have friends that take Lyrica, a lot of them are on the MS forum here and they had little luck with the med itself. If you find the side effects of Lyrica too unpleasant make sure to let your Dr know and maybe try the Neurontin next. I have taken that med for years and have had no adverse side effects with it. I would definately take extra care when you are taking this med with your history of severe reactions in taking medications.
Avatar m tn Hi there. The side effects associated with the use of pregabalin are dizziness, somnolence, tremor and ataxia, peripheral edema, weight gain, hypoglycemia, dry mouth, increased appetite, vomiting and flatulence. Ocular side effects include visual field changes, reduced visual acuity, blurred vision, otitis media and tinnitus, angioedema with respiratory compromise has been reported, dyspnea, urinary incontinence, myasthenia, arthralgia, myalgia, etc.
Avatar f tn gabapentin often requires 1800mg / day to work (built up slowly over time), while pregabalin can be effective at 150mg TID. And the change of side effects build as the does is increased. If cost is an issue, since gabapentin can be effective for neuropathic pain (at high doses) I'd try the gabapentin first and see what happens. If it doesn't work, then i'd try the Lyrica.
Avatar f tn Despite his bad bed-side manners I tapered off the vicodin and started the Lyrica, being open to anything that will help. The Lyrica helps the nerve pain but I still have a lot of back and hip pain due to disc inflammation. In addition I recently read a warning about using Lyrica while trying to conceive and possible birth defects. My wife and I are trying to conceive after already having 1 miscarriage.
Avatar f tn About 2 months ago I was prescribed Restasis Eye drops and after being on the dug for about 2-3 weeks I noticed that my mouth got extremely dry. So I looked up all the side effects and none included dry mouth. so I called the Dr. that prescribed it to me and I was told that 1% of patients get this dry mouth and I was told to discontinue use of the drug and come see the Dr in 1 month. It's been a month and I went to the Dr but the symptoms has gotten worse instead of better.
539209 tn?1225972263 Lyrica is wonderful once you get passed the side effects,,usually takes a week,,,,,Also lyrica is a schedule 5 drug,,with Morphine componants
217229 tn?1192762404 ++On methlyphenidate (literally "speed") I eat everything in the house and get sleepy. ++On Percocets 10/325, I wake up and don't feel pain... But I don't get "high" like other people seem to. ++Coffee puts me to sleep or just makes my heart race... ++Valium makes me grumpy.
1218873 tn?1300091216 I think I have fewer side effects with pregabalin (Lyrica). Like I said, I couldn't take more than 300 mg of gabapentin at a time, without getting dizzy, no matter how slowly I increased. I take 100 mg of Lyrica (=~ 1200 mg of gabapentin, I think!) + 300 mg of gabapentin at the same time w/o getting dizzy.
901222 tn?1399142874 Lyrica (pregabalin) is a GABA analogue, similar to Neurontin (gabapentin). Even though pregabalin is approved for The results are still out on whether or not people suffer neurological dependance on this medication. People using high doses of pregabalin (> 1000 mg/day) report problems stopping this medication. My attitude about certain reported side-effects, like weight gain, is that I'll never know what they'll do to me until I try.
Avatar n tn When you look at the adverse effects of Lyrica, I think it should be used as a last resort. most patients with fibromyalgia have endocrine disruptions, including hypothyroidism. It's virtually impossible to treat fibromyalgia effectively without ensuring a properly functioning thyroid gland. One of the most common hormone deficiencies that can cause or exacerbate fibromyalgia is growth hormone.Growth hormone is secreted from the pituitary gland.
Avatar m tn Your best source would be a Pharmacist. They are the true experts in medications, the side effects, interactions and so forth. They are free and you don't always have to give your name. Good luck - and be safe!
210982 tn?1280983895 Lyrica is a gabapentinoid like Neurontin (as was mentioned), although more powerful in efficacy. It's pharmacological name is pregabalin. It's addiction potential is low, although there. wd symptoms are not even close to opioids or benzos. It is often abused for a GHB effect, sort of a heavy drunkeness. Some users do report euphoria at much higher levels than others, so there is a risk of psychological addiction with these people.
Avatar f tn Hair loss (known medically as alopecia) is a rare side effect of Lyrica® (pregabalin). In previous clinical studies, between 1 in 100 and 1 in 1,000 people taking Lyrica experienced hair loss. The exact percentage of people who developed hair loss while taking Lyrica was not reported. Because hair loss is so common in the general public, it is difficult to say whether hair loss is caused by Lyrica, genetics, other factors, or a combination of these things.
630344 tn?1280104983 I was told that it takes about 2 months to get the full effects of Lyrica and some of the side effects will subside too. Don't give up now and do not stop without proper instructions and does reductions.
Avatar m tn Lyrica (pregabalin) is a more potent form of gabbapentin, it is an anti convulsant drug, which is also used for neuropathic pain and generalized anxiety disorder. It can also have some serious side effects just like gabbapentin, which include depression, drowsiness, and suicidal tendencies. Not something I would want to run out and get for wd's. It must be carefully monitored by your Doc.
Avatar m tn Pregabalin is known as Lyrica in the States and is prescribed primarily to relieve neuropathic pain if you have diabetes or in the area of your rash if you have had shingles. It is also used to treat fibromyalgia. Pregabalin is used with other medications to treat certain types of seizures in people with epilepsy. Pregabalin is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. It works by decreasing the number of pain signals that are sent out by damaged nerves in the body.
Avatar n tn Hi there. Tremor is a common adverse effect of lyrica though in carpal tunnel syndrome you encounter tingling and numbness in the fingers, there is no mention of twitching. Fibromyalgia may cause fatigue, prolonged muscle spasms, twitching etc. so the thumb twitching could be due to fibromyalgia or a tremor as a result of pregabalin. Consult a neurologist for detailed workup on the cause of this thumb symptom since it is also causing so much of anxiety. Take care.
Avatar f tn I haven't experienced any side effects from the Lyrica yet. I will keep you posted should that change. Thanks for the encouragement! Same to you. It somehow makes it easier to deal with this knowing that there are many more dealing with it.
