lyrica

237152 tn?1206651036 My pain doc says neurontin is a much safer drug than lyrica and wants me to stick to the neurontin.....lyrica does have a euphoria associted with it with use for some....especially at first....
Avatar n tn But in the past two years I have had a flare up in my neck causing me to have headaches and a flare up in the back going down my side. I was on Lyrica for the headaches and they went away. The back and side pain gradually subsided and I stayed pain free for 5 months. Now it started in the back again and I feel pain all through the back muscles, down my right side and occasionally the left side into my groin area on left side and sometimes down my right leg.
1340994 tn?1374193977 With kidney problems, fatty liver, diabetes, and bipolar disease, what can my brother-in-law take for severe nerve pain in his legs? His PCP believes it's sciatica from his spine problems, although I'm sure the diabetes is also a likely culprit. Is there any medication he can take for the severe pain he's in?
Avatar m tn Yes I have that and it sounds like sciatica to me. Sciatica for me starts in the left buttock, down my thigh and some days can go clear to my toe. There are some stretches you can google to help you loosen that up but I know it isn't any fun when it flares up. I found a chiro years ago who really helped me with it and I haven't had much trouble since. Hoping you find some relief!
Avatar f tn m sorry to heat about your sciatica. I too suffer with sciatica. Do you know the source of the pain for as you know sciatica is a symptom and not a condition. Treating sciatica often means treating the cause of it. If it is a chronic condition that does not have a treatment plan than obvious you must treat the symptom. As Sandee said there are medications that treat nerve pain such as gabapentin and lyrica. If you are not on one of those I would consider discussing that with your PCP.
874521 tn?1424116797 I was dx'd with FM abt 12 yrs ago....I always wondered if it was just an easy out for my doctor who couldn't find any thing on the numerous tests, muscle pain ESPECIALLY LEGS and constantly tired...I just lived with it aft trying almost everything recommended by others. I also developed sciatica which I thought was FM and have been on gabapentin for last 5 yrs(works good)...I found out this is totally unrelated to FM...but rather neuropathy from degenerative disk disease.
Avatar f tn january 2008, last more days, like 2 weeks, i had sciatica in both legs, and tingling. The pain gone, the sciatica too, but I still have the tingling in both legs. The MRI said about 2 discal protrusion, ona full L4-L5, another discret bt L5-S1. I have visited 2 neurologist. One said, my tingling is not related to the protrusion, and prescribe me cortisone, B complex, Lyrica and amitriptiline. I havent taken them. The other neurologist said, my tingling is related to my protrusion.
Avatar m tn Physical therapy will usually help a lot for stuff like bulging disks. If the disk pushes on a nerve in the area of the spine, it's going to hurt. I might suggest you also really tighten up your stomach muscles, it helps support the lower back tremendously. And I knew a person who had sciatica, from nerve pain radiating from low back down his leg, and he did yoga for a year or so, and it went away...which is a lot like doing physical therapy, so PT does help.
Avatar f tn ve been taking Lyrica, various anti inflamatories and oxycodine. This morning I took a cortisone injection and starting feeling a little relief but as soon as I took a shower and walked around a bit all the pain came back. Will the cortisone work eventually? What else should I do? I want to get out of bed already!
Avatar f tn Nothing of significance in the area I am experiencing pain/discomfort. Lyrica has helped but hast taken away the burning/pinching. Ibuprofen/muscle relaxers only occasionally help. Any ideas out there?
Avatar f tn What exactly are cymbalta and lyrica? Aren't they anti-depressants? How do they help with the pain? Do they help with chronic fatigue as well? I have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue, and the aches and pains(especially legs from my thighs to my ankels) are leading the doctor to think fibromyalgia. I was just wondering about these meds because I NEED some relief and I've heard many mentions of these meds. Can they be taken with provigil?
Avatar f tn So, is there anyone with experience with sciatica that thinks that AH could still be getting the full blown foot pain of sciatica almost 4 yrs after? Once site said as sciatica 'healed' the pain seemed to retreat back up the leg so if his foot still has pain shouldnt he still be getting the same pain in his buttock and down his leg? He has said that his back is fine now... all that hurts is his foot and toe.
Avatar f tn It is suspected to be sciatica, but I have not been able to obtain a diagnosis, largely because the CT_Scan and MRI of the lower back, which show some minor problems, show no nerve compression. As well, two nerve block injections have produced no benefit. My question is: How is it possible that I have symptoms of nerve compression, but none is visible in the scans? Can there be another cause? Thanks very much.
Avatar m tn From the symptoms I described everything is telling my Sciatica. It felt like the pain was getting better but a few days ago I found it hard to lay flat on my back. The pain would shoot down my leg. Seemed like sitting upright in a chair was the only way it felt good. Last night I put a pillow under my left leg to elevate it so I could fall asleep and woke up with a cold half asleep leg(lol). I read it takes 4-8 weeks to get better.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I have sciatica symptoms and am wondering what drugs other than Tylenol and Ibuprofen, I can take for Sciatica pain, that isn't contraindicated with clonazepam. I have been on clonazepam for 30 years for cyclic vomiting syndrome/abdominal migraine. The sciatic pain is now intermittent (low one day high the next) and I have had it for 3 months. I see my NP tomorrow and wonder if there is anything I can suggest or ask for.
Avatar f tn I have done steroid schedules, I have done Lyrica/Neurontin which neither helped it almost seemed like the Lyrica made it worse, I am currently on: Valium (muscle), Oxycodone 5 mg, Percacet, Morphine (MS CONTIN),), and Tramadol. Pain killer’s help, but they don’t cure, we all know this… RSD, Discs hierniations, Piriformis, and pretty much anything practical has been ruled out. Please, if a doctor has any idea what I may have, I will worship the ground you walk on.
7188197 tn?1399464311 I know that overcoming a narcotic addiction is pure hell, been there, done that. I have chronic back problems also, including sciatica on both sides. You may want to talk to your doctor about low back exercises & physical therapy, if you haven't already. I am currently taking Tramadol as needed, Flexeril & ibuprofen. Be careful with Tramadol as it is a synthetic opiate derivative, although it's not classified as a narcotic. I only take mine when I have severe pain.
Avatar n tn First timer. I'm a 48 year old woman with degenerative disk disease. I had surgery 11 years ago and will probably need more next month if the physio I am doing right now doesn't work. My problem is.......I have been suffering for 9 months with this nerve pain down my leg that I can't walk or stand for more than 10 minutes. I've tried Lyrica, Tylenol 3, and now Tramadol, Zytram. Nothing is working at all. Are there any suggestions as to another nerve pain killer I can use?
Avatar f tn Unfortunately the ONLY THING that helped ease most of my sciatica was surgery. I was on some pretty high opiod dosages, and it didn't even begin to help this type of pain. neurontin may help, but it tales a month or so of taking it to start to feel any difference.
3156069 tn?1343495783 I have recently spoken to my Dr. about the serious pain in my leg. He said that, as a pain management Dr. he can think of no other options for pain management except for surgery and recommended me to a surgeon. I go to see him on Sep. 10th. Thank you for suggesting Lyrica, but I've tried Lyrica and some other medication like it and they just made me sleepy. I've tried all kinds of nerve pain relief medication, prescription narcotics, Physical therapy, ice packs, heat packs...etc. etc.
