Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica overdose effects

lyrica

Avatar f tn My daughter (38 yrs) has been treated fibro for several years. She suffers terribly with pain and fatigue. She tried Savella, but her rhematologist neglected to tell her to begin slowly-- so the first day she took one 50 mg pill (the prescribed dosage) and within an hour had terrible side effects. She didn't take any pills the following day and on the third day started to take 12.5 mg. daily. After 4 days, she was having horrible dizzy spells, pains in her head, and disorientation.

669241 tn?1236264344 I was taking both Lyrica and Ultram. I found that should I miss a dose of the Lyrica the pain was intensified and I didn't like the cognitive difficulty that it caused. I recently discontinued the Ultram after being on it for 3 yrs. Honestly, I am still achy and in pain, but I now see that the Ultram did little to begin with. I never had the dosage increased during the time I was taking it. Take care.
712802 tn?1274645485 Hi, I take lyrica 225mg 2 x a day. I have been and still am where you are. I have had a few bad days where I was looking at that option. I was able to get help from here which was great. I have not talked to any of my Dr's about this due to problems I already have at work and did not want anything like this to help my work mess with me any more than they already are. I am on alot of different drugs so I can not say that it was the lyrica.
Avatar f tn I do take Magnesium, on 100 mg Lyrica twice a day. Topamax had overdose and how petrified of it, pharmacist error started me on 200 mg then went up to 400 mg instead of 50. Very bad results. Use to be on Neurontin but didn't help with he burning I have. Had problems with Cymbalta when I originally tried it but everyone is telling me how much better I'm doing. I can't tell what should be happening or what is side effects. Voltaren didn't help much so take Napracin.
333535 tn?1227018609 I was on Lyrica for six weeks. I had terrible side effects - confusion and speech problems - made me sleepy - and it did NOT help the pain either.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have had 3 failed back surgeries and now have an SCS unit installed. I still take Lyrica and pain meds. Lyrica is suspost to make the nerve endings (dead) or just not as touchy. I have been on both Lyrica and Neurontin and the Lyrica does help me some. Not as much as my Dr wanted but it gives me about another 5-10% pain reduction. It does not help everyone even if they have the same problems.
Avatar n tn I just realized that I have been taking three 300mg tablets of WellbutrinXL and I haven't felt any of its effects. No jitteriness, and more importantly, no seizures. What does this say about how good WellbutrinXL is for me? I felt the same way taking 900 mg as I did taking 450 mg. I did call my doctor who told me to take 150 mg today and resume the 450mg (my regular dose) tomorrow. Any thoughts? Thank you.
Avatar n tn is it possible to use Lyrica in recreation? can this pain reliever produce similar or semi-similar effects ( highs ) brought on by opiates or benzos?
653169 tn?1303446369 ve been told the start up side effects on Neurontin are about the same as Lyrica and it took me a little less than a week for that sleepy dopey feeling to subside, and after that I felt ABSOLUTELY normal- like I hadn't taken anything whatsoever. You are on a very SMALL dose, so you'll adjust to it quickly. I'll tell you a funny story- my first week on Lyrica- I accidentally backed out of my garage when the garage door was only half way open.
293157 tn?1285873439 When I was started on Lyrica I had some wicked side effects after 5 doses of 75mg each...he wanted me to take 75mg three times a day (but that was part of the overdose problems I had with this doctor). I would call your pharmacist first because the odds are you are going to get a better answer from him as they know the drugs as a rule better than the doctors do. He/she will be able to tell you if you should stop the medication or if it is a normal side effect to start off or not.
Avatar f tn Lyrica is the one medication that I know of that is made to help with the pain of Fibromyalgia. I am on Lyrica myself for Fibro and it has helped me but I must say that although it doesn't completely take the pain away, it does take away a lot of the pain. It allows me to function like a "normal" person although I really do have to watch what and how much I do. I cannot do things that I used to do, unfortunately but at least I can function. :) For this, I am thankful.
Avatar n tn I have also been taking Lyrica for years for nerve pain. I have experienced no side effects at all. It does not completely take all my nerve pain away, but I would say it decreases it by about 50%. Does not seem like a drug that one could get addicted to to me but that's just me. Have you considered trying Neurontin? I took it for years prior to Lyrica but found Lyrica worked just a little better for me. They also use it to help with Fibromyalgia pain.
Avatar f tn Ok lets get to my question. My doctor has put me on celebrex, lyrica, gabopentin and tylenol 3. for the past two months she put me on percoset. I was supposed to take two a day but went up to 4 or 5 a day not just to releive the pain but for the feeling it gave me. I went into the hospital 2 weeks ago with pnemonia. I was released after 3 days. Thesecond day I was home I overdid it again with thepercoset. My husband went to bed and about 10 mins after that he heard a bang. I had passed out.
210982 tn?1280983895 Lyrica is a gabapentinoid like Neurontin (as was mentioned), although more powerful in efficacy. It's pharmacological name is pregabalin. It's addiction potential is low, although there. wd symptoms are not even close to opioids or benzos. It is often abused for a GHB effect, sort of a heavy drunkeness. Some users do report euphoria at much higher levels than others, so there is a risk of psychological addiction with these people.
Avatar f tn I was curious if anyone experiences really wretched side effects with Lyrica? I find it numbs my mind almost uncontrollably, and causes me to walk around in a fog for most of my day. Unfortunately, my doctor put me on a *very* low dose, because I was concerned about these very side effects. I was hoping someone could tell me whether or not these side effects actually went away, if the body eventually adjusted to them?
Avatar f tn 1. Do I really need a higher dose to rid trigeminal nerve symptons? 2. Is gabapentin contributing to balance and gait issues? 3. Are there any other alternatives aside from Lyrica? I thank you in advance for sharing your wisdom.
1286779 tn?1400012806 She went to a doctor yesterday about her hair and the doctor told her that it was because of this medication (Lydrica) But I have seen all side effects and none talk about hair lost. And my mother does not want to leave this medication because its the only one that works for her burning feet. Has anybody else expirence hair loss with Lydrica? She also takes Cymbalta 60mg,lyrica 75mg, Nexuim 40mg, and Tramabol 50mg. What do you all suggest she get tested for ?
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome From what you described, it does sound like fibromyalgia. The most important thing with fibro is sleep. Try to get a solid night of sleep every night. I take a benadryl and 3mg. of melatonin to help me sleep through the night. That one thing has really helped me. There are also exercises that help relive the muscle pain. A therapist could show you. Also, check out your local library for any books on fibro. Honestly, it is not wise for drs.
719785 tn?1232901518 The dr. took me off of Cymbalta because I was getting no relief. He put me on Lyrica. When I got my Rx filled I had to show my ID. I'm guessing Lyrica is a controlled substance? Does anyone know why or what it contains that makes it a controlled substance??
630344 tn?1280104983 I was told that it takes about 2 months to get the full effects of Lyrica and some of the side effects will subside too. Don't give up now and do not stop without proper instructions and does reductions.
Avatar f tn I got online to read the side effects of lyrica and it said you can not suddenly stop taking it or you will experience w/d!!! That sounds addicting to me?? Any info y'all might have sure would be helpful!
