Lyrica medication side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica medication side effects

lyrica

959341 tn?1246884689 s really a trial and error to find the one medication that works best for you and causes the least side effects. As with any new medication, I always suggest that you start off on the lowest dose possible and work your way up very gradually. People are oftem started out on full doses of medications, then find they are plagued by side-effects. It's believed that the body doesn't have a chance to acclimate itself to the drug slowly, so the side-effects would be much less.

1286779 tn?1400012806 She went to a doctor yesterday about her hair and the doctor told her that it was because of this medication (Lydrica) But I have seen all side effects and none talk about hair lost. And my mother does not want to leave this medication because its the only one that works for her burning feet. Has anybody else expirence hair loss with Lydrica? She also takes Cymbalta 60mg,lyrica 75mg, Nexuim 40mg, and Tramabol 50mg. What do you all suggest she get tested for ?
Avatar f tn Anyway, I was prescribed Lyrica and have been taking it for about 3 weeks. Before I started taking the medication, I researched all of the (horrible) side effects but have not really experienced any yet at 75 mg. twice a day. If anyone has taken Lyrica and experienced side effects, did they usually begin shortly after you started to take the medication or did they take awhile to kick in?
Avatar f tn 1. Do I really need a higher dose to rid trigeminal nerve symptons? 2. Is gabapentin contributing to balance and gait issues? 3. Are there any other alternatives aside from Lyrica? I thank you in advance for sharing your wisdom.
Avatar f tn From what I understand, there's a few differences. First, pregabalin cost a lot more than gabapentin. That's cause gabapentin is generic. Lyrica (pregablin) is effective for fibromyalgia when gabapentin is not. gabapentin often requires 1800mg / day to work (built up slowly over time), while pregabalin can be effective at 150mg TID. And the change of side effects build as the does is increased.
Avatar n tn I have also been taking Lyrica for years for nerve pain. I have experienced no side effects at all. It does not completely take all my nerve pain away, but I would say it decreases it by about 50%. Does not seem like a drug that one could get addicted to to me but that's just me. Have you considered trying Neurontin? I took it for years prior to Lyrica but found Lyrica worked just a little better for me. They also use it to help with Fibromyalgia pain.
653169 tn?1303446369 ve been told the start up side effects on Neurontin are about the same as Lyrica and it took me a little less than a week for that sleepy dopey feeling to subside, and after that I felt ABSOLUTELY normal- like I hadn't taken anything whatsoever. You are on a very SMALL dose, so you'll adjust to it quickly. I'll tell you a funny story- my first week on Lyrica- I accidentally backed out of my garage when the garage door was only half way open.
1088430 tn?1259159773 Hi tia1977! I think it's great that the Lyrica is working so well for you!!! I have never tried Lyrica before and the only person that I know of personally that took it had to stop due to unwanted side-effects BUT side-effects are usually rare and don't effect all people. So, if you are not experiencing side-effects and this medication is working well for you, then I wouldn't let other people's bad experiences with the medication make you worry about taking the medication.
Avatar f tn I was curious if anyone experiences really wretched side effects with Lyrica? I find it numbs my mind almost uncontrollably, and causes me to walk around in a fog for most of my day. Unfortunately, my doctor put me on a *very* low dose, because I was concerned about these very side effects. I was hoping someone could tell me whether or not these side effects actually went away, if the body eventually adjusted to them?
428506 tn?1296557399 Sometimes those side-effects will work themselves out. If they are not serious side-effects, I would give your body more time to adjust. If ANYONE can find something that works everyday for nerve pain, I am all ears. Been looking for something that is effective, for the past 10 years. I think I've tried them all. None of us can expect all the nerve pain to disappear.
Avatar n tn If you just started the Lyrica, give your body some time to get use to the medication. If the side effects persists after a couple of months, I would bring this to the attention of your physician. I have heard the side effects of lyrica can be more irritating than with gabapentin. Not to say gabapentin is side effect free but the only annoying side effect I had with gabapentin was a sore throat that persisted for 2-3 weeks and then went away.
Avatar m tn Hi there. The side effects associated with the use of pregabalin are dizziness, somnolence, tremor and ataxia, peripheral edema, weight gain, hypoglycemia, dry mouth, increased appetite, vomiting and flatulence. Ocular side effects include visual field changes, reduced visual acuity, blurred vision, otitis media and tinnitus, angioedema with respiratory compromise has been reported, dyspnea, urinary incontinence, myasthenia, arthralgia, myalgia, etc.
1298230 tn?1286310079 I know that it depends on the individual as to what kind of side effects you can experience with this medication, however knowing how they were able to get through this can help prepare me and ease my nerves.
Avatar f tn I have read the side effects and it also scared me...........I have had no ill side effects while on it at all.I have not gotten off of it yet but my doctor said he would wean me down slow and I would be fine.Do what you think is right for you.Talk to your doctor and tell him your concerns.
Avatar f tn I have beem doagnosed with fibromyalgia. I was searching Google for an explianation for swishing noises when I move my eyes from side to side, and I found someone with these symptoms on this site. I have, like them recently stopped taking lyrica, so I wondered if it could be this? I have nausia too. I can't live with the side effects of lyrica any more because I am a carer for my partner, and need to have my witts about me all the time.
Avatar f tn You are experiencing side effects of Neurontin, is all. Diff people react diff ways to it. Me, I have nausea that bothers me a lot. The weight gain you ask about is one of the side effects, as are the other problems you are having. I've been taking it for two years, and I also started out on Lyrica, but becuz of cost I had to switch. Neurontin has only been around for about 15 years, so for at least for that length of time you're good.
1283286 tn?1312911966 It is the medication that made her so fat. Look up the side effects in Google. Neurontin and Lyrica are both severe weight gaining and hardly help. My friend had the same nerve pains but "believed" in Neurontin, and I did not dare to say that she is round like a beer barrel. One must put every pill like on a scale and see, "Is it worth it or not"....Since she had anyway nerve pains, I just was wondering but did not want to hurt her feelings.
