Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica kidney function

lyrica

Avatar n tn Generally deficiencies of any of the above can cause muscle twitching and spasms in localized or generalized areas of the body. Get your kidney function, parathyroid gland function and adrenal function tests done because these affect the electrolyte balance in the body. Stress, alcohol, caffeine and fatigue all cause similar symptoms. Certain sleep disorders and peripheral nerve disorders due to diabetes or hypothyroidism can also be the cause. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn my bun is 63 and my creatine is 8.02 and im 60 yrs. old.
Avatar n tn You can progress very rapidly to NO kidney function and be on dialysis and having to wait for a kidney transplant. And we all know how that one goes--there is a shortage of transplantable kidneys and they go to the people who have been on the list the longest. So get to a kidney doctor now!
Avatar f tn So sorry, I know your pain. I have been there....a 12 on a pain scale of 10. Horrible. I would try the Lyrica again. I hated it at first. I couldn't function I was so tired. I layed around and thought I would be a zombie my whole life. Luckily I stuck it out and the sides went away. I am not so tired, I am sleeping, I am not in pain and I am back in grad school and interested in what I am doing. This was not the case for close to two months.
Avatar f tn Before trying it, or one of the other anti-convulsants (eg gabapentin, carbamazepine, etc), get your doc to check your blood pressure, cholesterol, kidney and liver function, weight, blood cell shape and white cell count. That gives you a solid baseline for comparing against later on, ie when on the medication. Lyrica is not without side-effects; however, a large number of the side-effects fade with time. A few side-effects, on the other hand, seem to be constant, at least while on the lyrica.
Avatar n tn My daughter had an auto kidney transplant in June of 2008 due to nutcracker syndrome. The surgery was successful but the pain traveled with the kidney. Her surgeon warned us this happens in 50% of the auto transplants he has performed for unknown reasons. My daughter has been on multiple drugs over the last two years during diagnosis and treatment and is currently on Lyrica and Percocet.
Avatar f tn When Dad is in heart failure he needs additional dosages of diaretics. Too much diaretic can effect kidney function and too little will effect heart function. We did see a kidney specialist concerning this, and the primary care physician is in communication with him. Dad also has vascular dementia. I know how hard dealing with memory loss can be for both patient and family. I will keep you all in my prayers.
1686743 tn?1306005451 and my BUN 22 to 46 All that being said ,,,, My PM decided I should try Pregabalin otherwise know as Lyrica. and I did.. This drug is used to treat fibromyalgia ... and nerve damage but it is only a side effect to what the drug was meant for. Here's what happened. Both feet and left hand swelled as if I had cardiac arrest. From side to side across the lower back hurt like something I haven't felt for a long time. My fear was my kidney's.
1218873 tn?1300091216 m now taking 300 mg of lyrica, plus 900 mg of gabapentin (ended up adding that back in after I got to 300 mg of lyrica and the dr didn't want to go higher, though I have seen the max dosage at between 450 and 600 of pregabalin).
Avatar m tn Prescribed 100 MG of Lyrica twice a day and Elavil 25 mg at night. Dr. said can take Elavil during the day for pain..Can't function.. What is another drug besides Elavil that will help with pain and not cause terrible side efforts?

Avatar m tn Would like to come off lyrica in favour of topamax .how to cope with pain as it will take 6 weeks to build up to 150mg topamax?i presume I must stop taking lyrica at the outset?
Avatar f tn m also experiencing nausea, along with tingling and burning sensations to my toes and fingers. My concern is if this can be diabetes or a kidney related condition or just symptoms resulting from my preexisting conditions?
1088527 tn?1425313375 200 is still enough that u should cut that in half again before weaning off. I was on 300mg and weaned off it, I also had/ have nasea and vomiting and feeling flushed but don't think it's related to the lyrica, instead related to my cancer/ recovery / chemo. I had to go off Lyrica becaus of weight gain. I stpped it a few weeks back and already dropped a few pounds and can do my pants up agian!
10704670 tn?1412128715 I'm wondering if one can build up a "tolerance" to a Lyrica dosage? I've been taking Lyrica for fibromyalgia for several years, and have been taking a low dosage of just 75 mg. once nightly. For over a month, now, I've been having achy joints in wrists, elbows, and feet -- along with ache behind my eyes, nervousness, and worst of all, "flu-like" feelings going throughout the body.
Avatar n tn I just started Lyrica last night. Nothing knocked me out like that did. I feel so drugged this morning, and a headache What are we using this for anyway? Pain or a sleeping pill?? I'm sorry but reading others questions, ya'll have keep increasing this drug to 600-700mg. Then what do you do? How do you guys function? I feel horrible. Not sure the pain from fibro is more enduring that this? Tell me there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear about your father. If he is retaining fluid then apart from heart function, kidney and liver function should be assessed. His blood sodium and albumin level too should be assessed. The prognosis worsens in presence of any other underlying problem like diabetes and presence of kidney dysfunction. If the EF decreases further with time, it indicates a bad prognosis. If this value improves with time, it indicates a good prognosis.
778888 tn?1237989291 I have had fibro for about 20 years and lately it has been worse, pain so bad I cannot rest in bed. I tried Lyrica last night, woke up pain free, but otherwise feeling a little groggy, but my mood was good an I had some energy. Actually felt a little bit "high." What are others experience with this drug--I need to work so I have to function too, does thie really work? Thanks alot!
Avatar f tn Often times, blood pressure meds, especially diuretics, will hurt your kidneys.
Avatar f tn My dad has only one kidney and it is at 19% function. What stage would this be considered? He is 92 so I am trying to decide what course of action to take.
