Avatar n tn My daughter had an auto kidney transplant in June of 2008 due to nutcracker syndrome. The surgery was successful but the pain traveled with the kidney. Her surgeon warned us this happens in 50% of the auto transplants he has performed for unknown reasons. My daughter has been on multiple drugs over the last two years during diagnosis and treatment and is currently on Lyrica and Percocet.
1686743 tn?1306005451 and my BUN 22 to 46 All that being said ,,,, My PM decided I should try Pregabalin otherwise know as Lyrica. and I did.. This drug is used to treat fibromyalgia ... and nerve damage but it is only a side effect to what the drug was meant for. Here's what happened. Both feet and left hand swelled as if I had cardiac arrest. From side to side across the lower back hurt like something I haven't felt for a long time. My fear was my kidney's.
Avatar n tn I have b een taking Lyrica for by back for several months. Lyrica is also for nerve damage. I have been 3 days without it(300mg a day) and I must say it truley does help.

Avatar m tn ve been a diabetic for almost 10 yrs now and have neuropathy as well as chronic back/ neck pain. I also have some pretty severe nerve damage in my legs from my back injury and had back surgery in 2007. Any way, I take lyrica twice a day 150 mg in am & 150 mg at night, and it has really helped alot with the pain. Im also on norco for my back / neck pain, but the lyrica has been a great help to me. However it is expensive if you don't have insurance.
Avatar f tn m also experiencing nausea, along with tingling and burning sensations to my toes and fingers. My concern is if this can be diabetes or a kidney related condition or just symptoms resulting from my preexisting conditions?
Avatar f tn I have used Lyrica (pregabalin) for 3 months so far and it works for my thoracic back pain and neck pain. Lyrica is an anti-convulsant. Before trying it, or one of the other anti-convulsants (eg gabapentin, carbamazepine, etc), get your doc to check your blood pressure, cholesterol, kidney and liver function, weight, blood cell shape and white cell count. That gives you a solid baseline for comparing against later on, ie when on the medication.
20805181 tn?1515210979 Dr prescribed me Lyrica for nerve damage in my neck. I was taking 300mg twice daily but it seemed to wear off too soon, So I bumped it up to 3 times daily and it's perfect. Is it safe?
Avatar m tn I am on day 18. I am doing well, but in pain from arthritis, nerve damage, and colitis. I remember my pain doctor wanted me to try Lyrica. I made an excuse that it was too expensive. He had me try an older generic, and of course I said it didn’t work. Now, I am thing about trying Lyrica to control my pain. However, reading the side affects it seems a bit scary and I want to be 100% mentally. Is Lyrica a viable, or even a good non-narcotic option to control pain? Does it even work?
12802766 tn?1427764870 I am currently on 400 milligrams of Lyrica per day because ihave pins and needles my hands and foot that drive me crazy. doctor said my vitamin B levels are five times the normal and he thinks this is causing the pins and needles. I don't see him until May. in the meantime the Lyrica only touches the surface of the pain. Does anyone have any suggestions for relief of the pain? Does anyone know how to get rid of vitamin B in your body?
Avatar f tn I have been perscribed Lyrica for motor and century nerve damage. I do not have pain but tingling and burning sensation, which is sporadic, the burning that is, the numbness is constant. This throws my balance off and I am not able to walk without cane, walker, or holding onto something. Should I see a Neurologist? Is Lyrica something that will help with the numbnes? I take blood pressure medicine, warfarin, anti- depressant and Nexium. Should I take Lyrica? Than you.
Avatar f tn From the posts I read it seems that many were taking above the max dose 4000 mg of acetaminfen daily. Irreversable liver/kidney damage has always been a big concern to me which is why I never exceed the 4000 mg a day. I just had blood drawn yesterday & will nervously await the results. If they tell me my enzymes are higher it will be easier to quit. I think. Have any of you had any damage to liver/kidney damage as a result of your vicodin use?
Avatar f tn I finally called an ambulance and was taken to the hospital. I was diagnosed with kidney failure and something called Rhabdomyolsis. This means the rapid destruction of skeletal muscle resulting in leakage into the unine of the muscle protien. This is caused by prolonged lying down on the ground. I was down on the floor from Thursday night until Saturday night. I was 115 pounds befor this happened and when they weighed me before they gave me dialysis I was 140 pounds! this was all toxic waste.
Avatar n tn Mild nerve damage can repair itself, but major damage is irrepairable. I hate to say it, but it is possible that you may have chronic pain. I know you say that you are willing to deal with the pain, however, you might reconsider the medication. I don't have direct knowledge of Cymbalta, but there are several types. I'm on Lyrica and it helps me quite a bit. The thing about a neurological pain blocker is you have to stay on them.
Avatar f tn Hi I was diagonosed in 2001 but have nerve damage in feet. I experience very bad spasms in my toes and lower legs. What drugs have been used for this? Bananas or gatorade don't help.
Avatar n tn Hello Ursamere. As you probably know, we're not physicians here, but are happy to share our experiences with you so you can explore the ideas further with your diabetes team. I'm also a long-time DMer - about 35 years. 5.6 is an excellent a1c and as one who's not (yet) achieved an a1c under 6, I admire the work & discipline it takes to achieve that.
Avatar n tn I had some severe problems in my abdominal cavity that were undiagnosed. for a very long time and that caused the damage. Unfortunetly for me Lyrica helps my pain allot (hate the weight gain but oxycontin caused more gain then the Lyrica). Without it the Oxycontin is not enough. I wish the Neurontin worked because it is allot cheaper. Abdominal nerve damage is tricky to treat because most of the pain meds cause constipation so I can't take the 2nd Oxycontin everyday.
Avatar n tn I take a natural anti-inflammatory support capsule, and inositol powder 3-5 mg a day, and evening primose oil (the latter 2 supposedly help with nerve damage). 2 weeks ago I started taking Lyrica 50 mg in the morning, 50 mg at night. After about 1.5 weeks I noticed a significant decrease in the pain. The lyrica has made me sleepy and my memory foggy, but it's not too bad. It's better than experiencing pain.
Avatar f tn I just got bloodwork back saying my EFGR is 50 Has always been >60 I am embarrassed to say I don't even know if the old one was normal or not, no md ever said I had a kidney issue, I just finished 12 weeks of treatment and am undetected but now I am freaked out by these kidney numera I wrote my md but have not heard back yet Doesn't anyone know or understnad this, I am having trouble understanding what I read from google searches Thanks CH
Avatar f tn The only way to truly ease your mind is by being totally honest with him/her. I have liver damage and kidney damage due to drugs stage 2 liver stage 3 kidney.. if your liver were damaged and you had a flare your belly would be extended/pain upper right you would be lethargic/vomiting.. other symptoms but these being severe.. It is not fun and I would not wish it on anyone.. I contracted hep C from slamming and further continued the damage through pills/alcohol..
Avatar n tn The worst pain ever. 6 months on Nortriptyline, several on alpha lipoic acid, now on Lyrica. Lyrica works! Still numb but pain relief. Questions: Concerned about kidneys and new insurance doesn't want to cover Lyrica. They want me on gabapentin. I've been on Cobra for over 2 years and am really fed up with jumping through hoops while paying up to $2000 per month for cobra, copays, etc. Lyrica works. How hard should I fight? I'm getting tired of the BS.
Avatar f tn Incidentally, if you suspect a kidney problem (which you likely do since you came to a kidney forum), your pain pills should not be Motrin or Advil (ibuprofen) since ibuprofen can cause kidney damage. Tylenol is a better choice (but don't go overboard on it either). Good luck!
