1232362 tn?1333135406 The pain can be relieved with pain medication or lyrica which is indicated for neuropathic pain as in your case. If your pain medication do not work, stronger prescription pain medications may be indicated. In form your doctor about this if it persists. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I definitely get the sore throats and jaw pain. Lyrica made a huge difference in it. I have reduced my dosage and it does come back periodically. I also use NSAID's, massage therapy and meditation to help.
387767 tn?1345872027 Ear pain, Jaw pain and Headaches can be due to TMJ ( Tempromandibular Joint Dysfunction). TMJ is common in patients with Fibromyalgia. Do you grind /clench your teeth at night? Do you mostly get this pain after waking up from sleep? Then most likely it's TMJ. Also, If your dentist mentions that you have some teeth-wear ( Attrition), then you are most likely grinding/clenching your teeth at night. Though I don't know what the reason could be for your throat closing up...
Avatar n tn I have been seeing a pain specialist in London since December 2008 and he has prescribed 600mg Lyrica per day which help a little but not much.
Avatar f tn I was told it couild be TMJ and an orthadontist told me once, that my jaw was too small. Now I was just wondering what it could be. Not much takes away the pain tylonal only works for a couple hours and I've used joint cream which only works for a small amount of time. When it hurts, it creates large headaches that sometimes make me lightheaded. I was wondering if anyone would recomend anything to help it.
Avatar f tn Lunesta gave me the metalic taste as does Ambien. Also makes my gums inside my cheeks sore and jaw pain. Had to get off of both. Lyrica makes me sleep all night and half the morning so, Im not taking it anymore. Not a good drug for sleeping if that's what your looking for. Has addictive qualities.
Avatar n tn Eating is so painful with any kind of chewing.I have tried Lyrica and am on pain medicine for chronic spinal disease which does little to help with this cranial facial seperation., Also fractured the ethmoid sinus along with orbitial floor fractures which included the upper jaw fracture and other area in the face. Most of the face is numb and more so on the left side which had most of the trauma. It feel like I would like to pull my upper teeth out at times.
901222 tn?1399142874 I struggle with a severe form of spinal arthritis. My doctors encourage me to medicate. I don't like to. I tend to slip in and out of dependency according to pain levels and depression about it. I stay far away from oxy and morphine because they are very difficult for people to quit. Vicodin makes me sluggish and sad. I lose connections and sulk in my bed. I just stopped all about a week ago. Feeling a bit better. Still depressed with another RF medical procedure looming. I'm worried.
Avatar m tn Muscle relaxants like flexeril or skelaxin are sometimes helpful. If the pain is from nerves, medications like Lyrica or gabapentin sometimes help. If there is a component of depression, Cymbalta might by helpful. All of these non-narcotic medications are better choices than narcotics, as they are not subject to the tolerance that is such a problem with the narcotic medications.
405614 tn?1329144114 I have had this awful pain, upper left side of jaw, on and off for years. Several years ago I talked a dentist into putting a crown on a tooth that was healthy; I hurt so badly that I felt something had to be done. I have dry mouth (and eyes, possible Sjogren's?), so I have some gum recession. I have also had root canals on most of that upper jaw, and when I had X-rays and teeth cleaning in November, everything looked fine, though the pain was starting.
645390 tn?1338555377 When I was having severe jaw pain radiating to the ear and whole side of my face, both of these worked for me.The pain was the same as TN, in fact, they were having trouble edeciding if it was TMJ, TMD, or TN. It turned out to be an internal derangment of the temporal-mandibular disc. Cause by arthritis, the disc has shifted out of place. I didn't even know the jaw had a disc, LOL. I hope this helps you some, I know how painful it can be. Maybe from too many loud fireworks?
358486 tn?1294776388 All the Med r the same more or less they help with depression and nerve pain. And for u ear and the load sounds. Maybe ur jaw is out of line. R u haven any face pain? U might have tmj.
Avatar f tn I was also prescribed Lyrica awhile ago for pain which they thought was RSD. I found that after awhile it really messed with my memory along with the fact I put on 40lbs in less than 3 months. I was taking 150mg/daily, then twice that before I just stopped cold turkey.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have everything you have so I know how you are suffering. Relafen didn't do anything for my pain, plus it's bad to take any NSAID drug if you have high blood pressure. My cardiologist doesn't want me to take it. Sometimes I do use Advil, but not every day. Tylenol sometimes, but it doesn't do much either. I refuse to take Lyrica because of the weight gain thing. I am already overweight, which is bad for my bp. With my fibro, I get hand pain.
Avatar f tn Hi, I get that lots. Not just the end of my nose is involved though. So, I don't know if it's the same thing, but, maybe same nerve? My tongue and lips, at their worst, feel like I have shingles, my nose and around my lower face feel like dental freezing is beginning to wear off. My teeth feel as though they all need root canals and my gums feel infected. Dentist checked all clear.
Avatar f tn my upper teeth the nerve roots started to hurt all at once very painful felt like a tootha che times 1000. took a bunch of pain meds to go away weird . the other thing is numbness in right side of face. lost my hearing in the right ear for a couple of hours one time.
673940 tn?1232411764 } my neck muscle is damaged and also my salava glands , i have also got terrible sinus problems since this happened{they have not offered to rebuild my jaw bone or damage my mental nerve to stop the pain} this has been going on for three years now i am at my wits end !! could yoy please give me some advice as what to do..please and thankyou carol.
959341 tn?1246884689 Treatment can include lyrica and other pain medications for neuropathic pain (pain coming from nerves), such as lyrica, neurontin, or elavil. Eye movements are not typically something that would trigger Lhermitte's phenomenon; if you have eye pain when you move your eyes, inflammation of the nerve to the eye (optic neuritis) would need to be excluded.
Avatar f tn I have both. With the TMJ, my jaw gets a click on occasion, but no real pain, per say. With the Trigeminal Neuralgia is is lots of pain for me. It feels like my skin in on fire and shooting pain in on the side of my cheek, up towards the temple and near my jaw. Is this an MS related symptom? I have had this for years, and have always associated it with cold sores in my mouth. I have had the pain, and not the cold sore, but always thought somehow it was part of that virus.
Avatar f tn I have had Mennigitis in 05 and Mono in 08 and my joints swell every day to the poitn I can barely walk by the end of the day, and my pain in off terrible. I already take Lodine and Lyrica. I have blood pressure issues, but its under control now. I have Migraines, and have medication for that. I have depth perception propblems, and am hard of hearing. getting lighting like shocks down my spine if i turn my neck to faat or bend it to far, my jaw hurts all the time.

359574 tn?1328360424 ve tried cutting back to 900 mg per day, but within a day or so I start getting face/ear/jaw pain, so 1200 seems to be the magic number for me, at least for now. I hope it works for you, be sure to give it enough time like hbananas said.
Avatar m tn t have dizziness or vertigo? Could it be TMJ though I have no jaw pain and swallowing difficulty? Or could it be mites or scabies? Can anyone here particularly those that have similar symptoms or have extensive knowledge about spinal and nerve health share some opinion on my issue? Thanks so much in advance.
Avatar f tn I also have TN, on and off for maybe 8 years. Mine is atypical, which includes a more dull burning pain as well as shocks, zap, zings and periods of more intense pain. Mine is on the left side, and there is no way I can eat on that side when it is flared up. It's sensitive to cold, to touch, like chewing or air conditioning on my face, even breathing in air can cause a zap of pain. That has kept me from opening my mouth wide.
279234 tn?1363105249 It was throbbing just a little bit down from my temple and the pain would shoot to my lower jaw, lower cheek, and upper jaw. This was all on the right side of my face. My teeth would not hurt but they felt almost numb compared to the other side. My ear, deep inside felt funny on the same side as well. The pain would let up at night and it wasn't constant, but it did knock me down for several days and made me very grumpy to deal with.
Avatar n tn I was assaulted a year ago with injuries to my jaw and ear. I have always had joint pain as long as I can remember and depression. After the assault though my pains have been worse. The middle of my back feels like its broken, exp. when I try to bend over backwards. My bottom of my neck and shoulders have always been stiff for as long as I can remember too. My arms get sore and so does my legs. I am sick of complaining to my doctor. I have been diagnosed with TMJD, Myalgia and Myositis.
