398624 tn?1266269449 I have generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder. The Lorezapam BARELY takes the edge off. I haven't left my house in over 2 yrs except to go to the doctor or to the store. My psychiatrist recently changed me to Lyrica since the Lorezapam is not working. I haven't started taking the Lyrica yet tho. New meds always worry me. Has anyone taken this for anxiety? If so, how well did it work for you?
Avatar f tn in the States, has unlabeled uses for GAD and SAD, (Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder) it is primarily prescribed here for fibromyalgia and neuropathic pain associated with peripheral neuropathy. Nowhere can I find that it is beneficial for sleep problems, although one of it's side effects IS "fatigue," I don't think that is the desired effect for a sleep aid.
Avatar n tn In middle I had a few friends but in high school I moved and couldnt make any friends at all. Then I learned about social anxiety disorder and is sound alot like me and i have other anxiety disorders like hypocondira and OCD. But it could be aspergers.
Avatar f tn I've been diagnosed - by a psychiatrist - with Social Anxiety Disorder. I've been taking Lexapro for almost 2 months - started on 10 mg and the dosage was up to 20 mg two weeks ago. Also, for the last 3 months I've been speaking every week or two with a licensed professional counselor. My main problem is associating with people that are close to my age range, I'm 26.
Avatar n tn I have the same problem. i was on xanax 6mg a day for a long time and almost went to rehab for them. I have bottles and bottles of them in my room and looking at them and remembering how they made me feel like a zombie, gives me the strength not to take them and say I don't need xanax to run my life. however to completely contradict what i just said, i switched to klonopin 4mg a day and i feel much more stable, even mood swings.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with an Anxiety Disorder. I have been on four different medications; the first one was Lexapro, which made me extremely tired, then Cymbalta which made me extremely paranoid, a generic version of Zoloft, I can't remember the name which I gained 15 to 20 pounds before I realized it was the medicine, and the latest one is fluoxetine(? generic Prozac) which doesn't appear to be helping, I'm still anxious (crabby) so I went off that one as well.
Avatar n tn Could you please let me know if it is safe for her to take lyrica for her fibromyalgia !!! Thank you so much for your time in this matter !!!
494087 tn?1257793207 I was diagnosed with social anxiety and panic disorder a year ago. I take remeron and klonopin but the doctor says only to take them at night. I think I need some medication to get through the day but I am afraid to tell him I am having trouble getting through the day. I always have a butterfly feeling in my stomach and when I have to go in public I get very nervous and feel like everyone is looking at me. I guess my question is does anyone else feel this way and what should I do?
Avatar m tn So some do use it for anxiety, but not that often since it usually only works for anxiety in high doses. Lyrica is more often used these days for pain because it's on patent, whereas neurontin no longer is.
1039200 tn?1314912008 Hi I take lyrica for my bipolar 2 rapid cycle disorder. Although the fda in America hasn't caught up, over in Europe they are using lyrica as a bipolar med in conjunction with other meds. I can't take any form of anti-depressant because I freak out. I have 3 herniated disc in my back but take lithium so I can't take any anti-inflammatories, which only leaves opiates which my body becomes addicted to very fast, then I get to suffer through opiate withdrawal.
Avatar f tn I'm not a nurse, but I would visit with your primary care doctor if you have one. I'm guessing if maybe you have a social anxiety issue at minimum. To not remember where you are is the part that worries me, because even though I have social anxiety issues, I don't forget where I am. I forget names, but that's how I've been for years since my spine injuries. I have ADD and have to use to do lists.
Avatar n tn But, as I stated above, if your daughter speaks to everyone in ALL situations, then the severe form of social anxiety is not present (selective mutism). However, there is ample evidence that your daughter suffers from social anxiety - whether it is severe enough to be called a "disorder" would require a formal diagnosis from your pediatrician or a person with experience in anxiety disorders. Hope this clarifies my previous posting ...
728480 tn?1312059930 A lot of people experience social anxiety. If its extreme it can be part of anxiety disorder. Paranoia is part of schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders.
10912630 tn?1413770190 My mother had severe social anxiety and severe major depressive disorder along with many other health problems. When she corrected her low stomach acid (which was preventing nutrients needed to make neurotransmitters such as serotonin) she finally started to improve.
Avatar f tn I have the same problem as you. I'm 23 and my doctor just diagnosed me with Social Anxiety Disorder, tho I'm pretty sure I have had this problem for most of my life. I dropped out of school, and I haven't had a real job and I don't drive much all because of my anxiety. I don't really know what the solution is but what I am trying to do is conquer my fear and anxiety by going out and facing it.
Avatar m tn I suffer from depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), with anxiety and panic attacks for two years. I suppose depression arised from the fact that both my daughters were forced to immigrate because of the economic crisis of my homeland. Anyway, i tried Cipralex, Cymbalta, Seroxat, Effexor even and the combo Effexor with Remeron (California rocket fuel) but without great results. In fact, some of these meds, made me worse. Only Xanax relieves me.
Avatar n tn Whether you have generalized anxiety or social anxiety or garden variety anxiety can only be diagnosed by a doctor.........and at the young age of 13, (even tho it's obvious you are mature for your age) your hormones are kicking into high gear and that can sometimes bring on anxiety. I would urge you to talk to your parents about these feelings and I believe a talk with your doctor is in order. You do not have to feel this way.
Avatar n tn I have never taken either of them but from what I have heard and read it seems to be a good combination for pretty much all of your physical and mental problems. Someone with experience on these medicines will be able to help more and if you check back often you will find some good information but it is slow on the weekends.
1037594 tn?1258562179 Have any of you had issues with Social anxiety in particular bipolar people? Also do any of you have to force yourself to get up and get out rather than behaving like a recluse? I have had problems with the above mentioned issues from time to time and was just wondering if this is common?
Avatar f tn I feel anxious when I am standing in line and the person behind me is standing RIGHT behind me.
Avatar f tn The disorder is linked to significantly diminished quality of life and can be co-morbid with major depressive disorder and social phobia, also known as chronic social anxiety." http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn Yes, GAD is General Anxiety Disorder. Are you being treated for this either via therapy or medication? Therapy can help a lot with your self-esteem problem, as well as the anxiety. Take care.
Avatar m tn What you describe is pretty typical for someone with either panic disorder or social anxiety. Our homes are our "safe place...so even somewhere mundane like the grocery store can cause us anxiety (or panic attacks). It also could be more social related, where you become anxious around people (or certain people anyway) or social situations. It would be helpful to be able to kind of narrow down what KIND of anxiety you are dealing with. While therapy is often very similar...
