I've never had to show ID to get my lyrica. Was that your first time getting a prescription there? If you are really concerned you should speak to the dr. that put you on the medication. Lyrica has a website, Lyrica.com. I hope the website can answer your questions and make you feel at ease.

Lyrica can be addictive at high doses but it is specifically for diabetic neuropathy or shingles pain. Also just recently approved for Fibromyalgia, It is definitely worth trying. I have atypical neuralgia and it works for me. Good luck with this, hope it helps.

Has anyone ever experienced something like this? Could it be from the Lyrica? Have I been on the Lyrica long enough to feel a change in my pain....even if it is just a little? My pain: Both legs and my right arm feel like there is a vise grip on them squeezing tighter and tighter. I have had this for 5 years. My right arm pain changed to extreme burning in the arm and numb fingers in the middle of April. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

My husband also takes Lyrica and he doesn't get a high from it and he never goes over his daily dosage he also forgets to take it sometimes. He is also on oxycontin ( he never forgets to take that lol) , even with the oxycontin if he doesn't take his lyrica for more then 2 days he is in major pain. So I wouldn't worry about lyrica being addicting. Oh by the way my husband does have and addictive personality.

When I was addicted to percocet and ran out we tried Lyrica a bunch of times and it did nothing. Keep in mind we were looking for a high. Is he adddicted to any pain meds or anything like that?

One thing I forgot to mention about Lyrica as far as effectiveness is that I kept feeling that I needed to increase the dose after just a little while. It was as though my body would adjust quickly and would become immune to the strength and the pain would return. This would happen quite often. I remember not liking that and being fearful that I would top out at the highest dose too fast because the amount I needed to keep up with the pain would keep increasing.

I have had fibro for about 20 years and lately it has been worse, pain so bad I cannot rest in bed. I tried Lyrica last night, woke up pain free, but otherwise feeling a little groggy, but my mood was good an I had some energy. Actually felt a little bit "high." What are others experience with this drug--I need to work so I have to function too, does thie really work? Thanks alot!

Told her that I wanted to get off of Lyrica all together. Feeling very depressed, anxious, and continue to feel sad and crying spells. Started taking generic Neurontin per this doctor at 100mg a day. Am still sad and crying. Went to see my psychiatrist who told me to increase the Neurontin to 300mg a day and advise doctor who prescribed it to me. This was 4/19/13. Still am feeling very sad, depressed, and anxious. It is now 4/22/13. Am I going through withdrawal?

I believed all the pretty commercials about Lyrica, finally got my dr to prescribe it, and I ended up 3 days and 2 nights in the hospital, after collapsing at work and going to the ER in an ambulance. Lyrica was not good for me. If you take it or are considering taking it, DO NOT IGNORE the slightest side effect.

has anyone ever been perscribed Lyrica for cronic pain. If so how much do you take, and how long did it take to notice any results. I started taking 50MG's 3X's a day. I started last Tuesday, and haven't noticed any difference in my pain. any feedback would be great.

Oh, sorry but I forgot to say one thing. I'm on Cymbalta, cannot take Lyrica because during all those therapies I was put on Neurontin and Lyrica is FROM the Neu. family and it too messed up my vision, speech and handwriting. I'm suprised they have you on both! No wonder you're a mess! Get off the lyrica, you need to read the sides for Cymbalta, I just take a 60 mg EVERY OTHER DAY and I'm much better.

I was on Lyrica, I had to quit, I gain an excessive amount of weight and my hands and feet swelled.although It did helped with the pain. Sometimes I would get dizzy if I got up too fast.

Used to take high dose of gabapentin and no longer working and decided to try Lyrica. Dr.said if could get used to taking the amitripline during the day it could help and it does but can't function. Now back to just taking it at night and have to suffer all day as the lyrica isn't doing it for me Just hoping someone has a suggestion for daytime relief. Thanks for helping.

So some do use it for anxiety, but not that often since it usually only works for anxiety in high doses. Lyrica is more often used these days for pain because it's on patent, whereas neurontin no longer is.

I have been prescribed Lyrica please can anyone tell me How soon should I expect to get relief. I'm in so much pain at the moment it doesnt seem to have made helped at all.

I was told that it takes about 2 months to get the full effects of Lyrica and some of the side effects will subside too. Don't give up now and do not stop without proper instructions and does reductions.

Thanks for responding. I haven't experienced any kind of high while on the Lyrica so maybe some are affected and others not. The thing is my doctor is trying to keep me off of pain meds because he's afraid that I will become addicted and that along with my disease would be horrible. I agree. I don't want to be addicted to ANYTHING including a drug that I haven't experienced any kind of relief from.

blood pressure is 120/80, and highish is anything with diastolic above 90 - usually 140/90 is considered to be high. My experience of lyrica and tegretol is that both may cause blood pressure to rise. Lyrica may also increase fluid retention and fat gain: both of these may elevate blood pressure. In my case cholesterol went up while on lyrica so they have prescribed crestor for cholesterol - and my blood pressure went up again!

I am diabetic and have been prescribed Lyrica for nerve pain. I am hearing contradictory opinions about the safety of Lyrica in a recovering addict. I would rather live with the pain than relapse. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Hi!! Just wanted to say that I took Lyrica for a couple of months, now on Neurotin, 600mg 3x a day. For fibro, the lyrica didn't seem to help me any better than the neurotin, which I am sure helps more than I am giving it credit for. Anyway the neurotin is covered by my ins. and the lyrica isn't. No, I had no idea a person could get high from the lyrica. I do understand some people do say that it needs to be tappered off, not quit.

have not taken in a few years i have went to a new dr today that has put me on cymbalta and lyrica can some one please help me i am so scared of these meds. i have read the side affects, i do not think i am depressed and dont understand why this med would be used.

When it first happened, I was taking lots of medication that listed this as a side effect (lyrica, ambien and pain medication following back surgery). The surgery was two months ago and I've been off all medications for about three weeks. I had a terrible 'attack' of this double vision a few days ago, so bad that I couldn't drive. The double vision is horizontal and goes away when I cover either eye. It seems to come and go, but has been persistent the last couple of days.

What concerns me is long turn usage and if I am able to work up to four 300mg daily and still be able to function. I found out at pharmacy that I could get Lyrica for $3.20 a month..paid $1.10 for Gabapentin. I am covered by Medicare and Medicaid. My Neuopathy pain is from back surgery over 10 years ago and I am trying to ease symptoms by having injections in my back and this new medicine rather than another surgery. I pray one or other I can manage.
