Lyrica generic nerve pain

Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica generic nerve pain

lyrica

Avatar f tn when the pharmacy switched to the generic, I had similar psychological side effects similar to those from Lyrica and Gabapentin (confusion, stupidity, suicidal thoughts,...) I can only take the name brand. I have to pay hundreds of dollars for this, but the shooting nerve pain is so intense that I will continue to pay it as long as I can. I'm afraid for when I can no longer...
Avatar f tn Also some antidepressants like Cymbalta and Nortryptiline are used in treating nerve pain. Nerve pain can be very difficult to treat. My doctor tried me on many combinations and dosages of medications before we found what works best for me. Where is your nerve pain and what have you tried to treat it?
Avatar m tn I know it's different for everyone but I have tried lyrica and it didn't help at all my doc wanted me to try it before I got surgery for two cracks on my l5 vertabrae that eventually got fused and screws but it just didn't work my father also tried it for pain and it didn't work either neither one of us noticed any side effects tho it will prob help for the pain from nerve damage u talked about because I believe it's actually for nerve pain but I don't think it will help
Avatar f tn I am wondering if there is another med for nerve pain besides Lyrica and Neurontnin? I have tried both. I am taking 200mg of Lyrica 2x a day right now and I feel like I have a 9 volt battery stuck to my tongue. I have 8-10 other random hot needle spots right now among tingling and other typical annoying parasthesias. I did just finish a steriod treatment and have trouble coming down from it.
1359227 tn?1282522148 Now I have unexplained full body nerve pain and it brings the pain down from a 10 to a 6 on most days and my dose is slowly being raised, so I suspect I will soon be relieved of the full body nerve pain. Thankfully gabapentin is the generic for neurontin, so if your pharmacy gives you the generic and you have decent insurance, you're only out a couple of bucks and a few days of pain if it doesn't work for you and then you can just try something else.
Avatar f tn I take Lyrica myself. It is for nerve pain. It does nothing for my numbness, etc. I may have to go back to neurontin as my insurance co doesn't want to pay for Lyrica. So far for 4 months now, my doc has given me samples, but that can't go on forever. The only trouble I have with Lyrica is I have to be VERY strict about carbs, as it causes craves, and weight gain. Hope this helps.
773646 tn?1239225659 I have MS, Fibromyalgia and Transverse Myelitis and have a constant buzzing and nerve pain in my hands and feet and pelvic area and for the nerve pain I highly recommend Lyrica as it works really well for me! Not only is it listed for nerve pain but for Fibromyalgia as well. From experience I can say the Lyrica will turn off the buzzing in the neck and spine in a short period of time. It doesn't work for everyone, but its been a lifesaver for me even at the minimal doses I take.
Avatar f tn anyway I am writing this and suggest anyone with my type of pain ask their doctor about this combination for nerve pain....helps my nerve pain significantly and also has gave me energy and lifted my spirits and makes more alert and much more energy and also helps suppress my appetite where Lyrica by it's self stimulated my appettite....
Avatar m tn 150 mg at night, and it has really helped alot with the pain. Im also on norco for my back / neck pain, but the lyrica has been a great help to me. However it is expensive if you don't have insurance. Good luck to you all who suffer from this. I know quite a bit about neuropathy if I can help any one.
Avatar f tn If there's nerve pain involved you can try neurontin, Lyrica and the antidepressant Cymbalta.
Avatar m tn A few days ago, I decided I was in too much physical pain and started researching non-narcotic pain killers. My pain doctor prescribed Lyrica about a year ago, but I wanted to stick to my Hydro/Tram/Benzo cocktail at that time. Also, when I received my venomous bite that also sliced through my hand breaking it and slicing through nerves and tendons, the hand specialist recommended Lyrica. I actually tried it a few days ago and it it awesome at just 50 MG 2 times a day.
Avatar f tn Not sure if it would work for fibromyalgia. I have nerve pain from RSD after many hand surgeries. (I also have fibromyalgia.) I did stellate ganglion blocks for the nerve pain and have had varying relief with them. Maybe it's something you could ask about. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn Deb, Have you tried Lyrica yet? Recently approved for Fibromyalgia. Fortunately, I do not have that condition, but I do have nerve pain and it worked wonders. Probably reduced my pain level from about an 8 to about a 3. Thus far I have not had any side effects from it. Ever since my doctor put me on it, I want to shout the the world! Just a thought you can take to your doctor....
Avatar f tn I was put on Neurotin yesterday for nerve pain, due to the pinched nerve in my back. I have read some of the older posts about it possibly helping with withdrawls, anyone have experience with this. ANY info is appreciated. Best of Luck to everyone suffering by ANY addiction, I definately have a much different outlook on everyone out there adddicted to ANYTHING! It just consumes you! Well, I am ready to fight, I want my life back!
491030 tn?1242424766 I was put on Lyrica for Fibromyalgia pain, and it helped with the pain, but it caused me to be out of it and tired and dizzy all the time. I finally had to quit it. But, I have heard it helps a lot of people. So, at least give it a try. A lady I work with takes it and it works for her! Good luck!!
Avatar f tn I work in pain management... as far as I know, there is no generic version of Lyrica at this time... and Lyrica and Gabapentin are two completely different medications... if your doctor or pharmacist told you otherwise, they are incorrect. Gabapentin is generic for Neurontin, originally developed as an anti-epileptic, whereas Lyrica was developed specifically for treatment of neuropathic pain.
Avatar n tn I take Gabapentin. Its non narcotic and doesnt give you a high. It works by blocking nreve pain. It is needed to be taken everyday as it only works if there is a constant steady amount in your system. I have been pain free most day. Stress and overdoing it will cause a flair up, but most of the time I am functioning 100% better.
Avatar m tn Gabapentin) or Lyrica (generic: NA) and Cymbalta (generic: NA) are good medications to try to help with this pain. Opioid medications may still be helpful to you but their effectiveness on nerve pain is limited; however, they may provide some additional meaningful relief due to synergistic effects. A muscle relaxer and anti-inflammatory are helpful too.
Avatar f tn I currently take 600mg of Lyrica a day...200mg three times a day. I have been on it for almost a year. I started out with 150mg two times a day. I guess my doc didn't taper because I had been on 4800mg Gabapentin a day...and switched to the Lyrica. My pain management doctor just doubled my dose last week....making it 600mg a day now. I found the Lyrica helped make my pain a manageable level, like a 4 or a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10.
874521 tn?1424116797 Yes, I started on Lyrica about 9 mos. ago for my lower back pain & neuropathic pain, HOWEVER, it does work & I like the fact that I'm not taking as highly an addictive pain killer as an opiate, I've already gained 26 pounds! That's having switched from regular to DIET soda & DECREASED my food intake!!! So, be forewarned, you're gonna gain more than a little weight.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know of something natural that helps relieve nerve pain? I have nerve damage from previous back injuries and cannot take the lyrica I was taking to control the pain. I've been managing as best as I can up until recently. My baby is sitting comfortable on a nerve which is not so comfortable for me and I can hardly move.
Avatar f tn I really have nothing good to say about Lyrica besides when I did have burning nerve pain it did take it away. I keep it on hand but havent had to take any for over 9months now. A suggestion I would make cause I was in your situation with chronic pain and I have addiction problems, is to look into a compounded pharmaceutical gel called KGCL(ketaminegabapentinclonidinelidocaine) it absolutely works miracles for my leg pain, from my ankles, knee, thigh, and bad hip pain.
Avatar f tn I haven't gone the pain killer route yet (because the NL & my PCP don't believe my symptoms including severe headaches, neck & back pain are Chiari related) for anything but my nerve pain. I was on Lyrica 3 yrs ago for 6 months until I couldn't afford it any longer & neurotin was prescribed instead. I used neurotin for about 8 months with the results not being as good as the Lyrica.
Avatar n tn lyrica is mostly for nerve pain..I just had fusion...lyrica is of little help..side effects are not great..dizziness, loss of concentration etc..
Avatar m tn I have been prescibed the same medications, a Generic form of Lyrica and Tramadol, It does nothing for my pain either, Mine began in my upper arms and shoulders, and has limited my range of motion, Mine also was harder to diagnose with Antibody tests due to the fact that my antibodies are high from the thyroid disease.
