Lyrica generic medication

Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica generic medication

lyrica

Avatar f tn If Lyrica worked for you, then start the fight with the insurance company. Either find a doctor that will write you the letter for it, or talk with your doctor about the fact that it worked, and you need his help for recommendation. Insurance companies suck for this, but I have fought with mine countless times for medication, and they usually give in. Dont give up! I would ask your doctor why he wouldn't recommend the medication if it was working?
Avatar n tn I am on Lyrica for burning feet caused by neuropathy. When standing, I am having dizzy spells and risk the chance of falling. I'm not sure if it's the medication or the MS. Does anyone else have this problem? This discussion is related to MS and age....
959341 tn?1246884689 s. I took Neurontin for a long time before Lyrica came on the market. With Lyrica, I had alot of swelling my legs and a craving for sweets. Whether a craving for sweets is a side-effect, I doubt the drug maker would admit it. But I did gain weight. And weight gain is my worst enemy. I have fought being over-weight most of the last 40 years. Neurontin works well for some people, so do anti-seizure medications.
1298230 tn?1286310079 I for one cannot speak for this drug. I had an allergic reaction to it. You can see the photos I posted. For me, it took the edge of slowly but never took the pain away. I had better luck with Lyrica. Everyone is different. For many, it is a miracle drug. I hope this is the case for you! But it also depends on why you are taking it. Is it for TN or other reasons? That may make a difference. I am assuming TN since you are on this forum. And you are so young, I am so sorry!
Avatar f tn m in the same boat except I cannot take the generic I have to have Lyrica. With the others I have trouble breathing. I have a damaged spinal nerve root from a failed fusion. An epidural did help way more than a nerve block. I also take tizanidine and hydrocodone. I used a E-stem and Dragontree (online) have some awesome pain patches. Carry on.
Avatar f tn Hi...Gabapentin is not a generic for Lyrica, but Neurontin...Lyrica is used to treat Fibromyalgia....and many times chiari is mis-dx'd as Fibro...the symptoms for chiari r similar to many diff conditions which is y getting a dx can be diff and many drs r more familiar with the other conditions then they r with chiari, so they feel it can not be chiari. http://www.google.com/url?url=http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar f tn I did a little better on Neurontin as far as less weight gain and less laziness, but I switched to a sister-medication known as Topamax. It is an anti-seizure medication just like Lyrica and Neurontin, but it doesn't have the same type of side effects and it helps with the nerve pain and migraines that Fibromyalgia can cause.
4975205 tn?1361974347 I started taking Lyrica approximately 6 months ago and I've noticed my vision changing. Is this a possible side effect? Also, is it best to take a short acting narcotic pain medicine or a time released pain medication? I'm finding that the Norco I take lasts approximately 3 hours, at best and that is very irritating. Suggestions?
1218873 tn?1300091216 Could any one tell me if Lyrica or Amitriptyline would dull down my brisk reflexes? One of the reasons my neuro considered my symptoms may be MS was because I had brisk reflexes. I have been to see the neuro rehab team and in there summary it said my reflexes were normal. I actaully don't remember the dr doing them. They refered me to a neuro physio, who pointed out the way my right foot reacts to being scratched underneath is far from normal.
Avatar n tn I take a cousin to your Epleptin, which the generic for yours is Gabapentin, and mine is Pregabalin or Lyrica. I have a lot of pain in my body from tearing up my back in a car accident years ago, it really helps it so much, and I think it will help your headaches a lot. Also, it is an anti-seizure type drug, so it helps with people who have musculature trouble. Also, once you get used to the drug, sometimes doctors will increase the dose until you reach a plateau of comfort.
5333788 tn?1366569346 Was told that I was going through withdrawal symptoms from the Lyrica. Can this be possible even though I was taking Lyrica for a short period of time? Sorry if this does not make sense. Have been seen by a few doctor's, gone through many tests, the list goes on........
1805240 tn?1317228731 Lyrica is sometimes considered a stronger form of gabapentin. Gabapentin is generic for Neurontin and Lyrica is brand name for Pregabalin. There have been several posts online from patients taking Lyrica, saying that the side effects are more severe than with Gabapentin. I have never tried Lyrica so I don't know if that would be the case for me. Everyone is different though.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have had fibro for 9 years, it started with my last pregnancy. As you all know some day s are better than others. I was wondering what types of meds others have tried. I take Neruonton and vicodine. I want to get of the last one if I can. I can't take lyrica. Any ideas?
Avatar n tn Hi and welcome to MedHelp. I also take percocet along with neurontin (gabapentin). The gabapentin is very similar to lyrica. I drink coffee 4-5 days per week and I haven't encountered any issues and I have been on percocet for almost a year and gabapentin for almost 2 years. I don't think there are any severe reactions when coffee is mixed with percocet or lyrica or both.
Avatar f tn I am wondering if there is another med for nerve pain besides Lyrica and Neurontnin? I have tried both. I am taking 200mg of Lyrica 2x a day right now and I feel like I have a 9 volt battery stuck to my tongue. I have 8-10 other random hot needle spots right now among tingling and other typical annoying parasthesias. I did just finish a steriod treatment and have trouble coming down from it.
Avatar f tn he also changed my medication from lyrica (no generic and very expensive!!) to nuraton. no MS which i was very concerned about it. i am still having the severe breast pain. i have had a mammogram and ultrasound. the findings of which show that i have an asymmetric density in the breast that i am having the pain. because of the pain and the fact that my mother had 2 primary breast cancers, they are sending me for an MRI of the breast on february 11.
Avatar f tn As in most cases when people have more than one type of pain, such as arthritis, DDD (Degenerative Disc Disease), etc. your Doctor will add the Gabapentin, Lyrica, etc. as an additional medication so that both types of pain are being addressed. I hope you will keep us updated on how you are doing and which of the many neuropathy medications worked for you. Best wishes and I look forward to your updates. ..........
Avatar f tn Previously I was taking lyrica. Lyrica seemed to affect my vision so I switched to Neurontin. I feel like I am in a blur everyday and all the events meld together, also when I work or go to school I feel like I am working through a fog. I am wondering if people take this kind of medication for years? And I have noticed that his medication has messed with my memory, what will that be like in the future? I am worried that it will affect me too much and really mess up my head in the future.
1134609 tn?1269272200 ----I stabilized completely last summer and I was on the brand name version of the medication. When I switched over to the generic, I started having problems and had to increased the dose from 900mgs to 1600mgs over the space of a few months. Any changes in the dosages over this time dropped me into a deep depression and I HAD to drop the dosage many times because it was agitating me. I just assumed it was because I was adjusting to the medication.
939964 tn?1288017024 I wake up typically 2 to 4 times per night, usually have to use the bathroom when I do, then go back to bed, usually able to return to sleep, but again, I do NOT typically enter REM sleep (dream). Is Lyrica safe to take for the other conditions I have, and if so, what are the side effects and dangers? I do also have an allergy to pennicillin and a few grasses, trees, foods, etc. Any suggestions as to what I can try next for sleep?
Avatar m tn How do you pay for Lyrica?, I take one 75 MG in a.m and one 75mg at noon and two 75mg's at bedtime for treatment of FMS and it's costing me $384 a month.
Avatar f tn I wish you well, and if I were you I would get off the lyrica unless you do have seizures, otherwise the side effects are just not worth it, there are many other pain relievers that can help alot more than that dangerous medication.
600857 tn?1230057770 My PM doc told me Neurontin (gabapentin) was useless!!! He put me on LYRICA, but it can be costly. Ask them for a drug savings card for LYRICA. I got one, and only pay $25.00 a month for my script. Good Luck. Neurontin didnt do anything for me but give me a headache, and made me loopy. Had more breakthrough pain also with it.
