Lyrica is prescribed for GAD. It could work for you. I have no personal experience with this med. Hydroxyzine Pamoate is interesting. Haven't heard about it before. It is unrelated chemically to the benzodiazepines but works to suppress certain regions of the subcortical area of the CNS(which is the area of the brain associated with anxiety par exellance!) Yes, very interesting. I will certainly read more about this drug. Don't have the time right now.

Prescribed 20 mg prozac for 15 years because I suffered from panic attacks. During my 15th yr. at 20mg prozac I suffered a panic attack and Dr. upped my dose to 40 then 60mg. Did not have another panic attack, but could not overcome the anticipatory fear of having another attack. Dr. included 50 BID of Lyrica three weeks ago and I'm feeling normal again. Anyone have any experience with lyrica?

I´ve been having serious problems with GAD for years now, and it has always been charactarazied by lots of psyical symptoms. As of late things seems to have escalated tremendously, and I am now at a point of more or less not being able to get out of bed. For some reason my physical symptoms seems to be worse on my left side (non-parkinsonian tremor and stiffness of fingers).

told me that Lyrica is more widely used for anxiety than Neurontin. Neurontin is used for major depressive order off label. Lyrica is really effective for GAD.

While pregabalin, known as "Lyrica" in the States, has unlabeled uses for GAD and SAD, (Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder) it is primarily prescribed here for fibromyalgia and neuropathic pain associated with peripheral neuropathy. Nowhere can I find that it is beneficial for sleep problems, although one of it's side effects IS "fatigue," I don't think that is the desired effect for a sleep aid.

I was put on lyrica for my FM ans nerve damage due to my back. It has many side effects of which one is a feeling of being "high". That feeling lasted two weeks then went away. It helped reduce my pain but left me spacey and effected my memory. It affects everyone differently so u may find a different kind of relief. I had to stop lyrica while I awaited approval from my insurance. The second time around, it did nothing for my pain but left me loopy and spacey.

m wondering how long ago. There are medications available now that work really well for GAD and have a favorable side effect profile. The duel receptor types of medications that work on both serotonin and norepinephrine-- SRNI's. Effexor is a brand name of one of these types of drugs. Have you tried something like this?

Is there anyone out there suffering with GAD and if so do you always seem to feel unusually tired and cannot concentrate well?

I am going to school full time and comute 90 miles a day which stresses me out alot, So in other words when does everyone think I will get a little relief from GAD and maybe some possible ideas to help with the poor concentration parts of the GAD. Thanks to whomever read this.

I am having my second bout with GAD after having relief for 18 years with no medication. I have been taking klonopin on and off for the last year. When I use klonopin it makes me feel like a new person. My concentration is improved I laugh my anxiety is gone and I have a general feeling of well being. I have been taking it everyday for the last two months at .25 mg a day in the morning. I know it does not sound like much but it works for me.

My doctor told me again that I have gad I was just wondering if gad can cause you to have more anger and think thoughts of hurting someone or yourself? Or am I just going crazy? I know in my own mind I would never do that but why am I getting these thoughts. It seems lately as if I have been really angered and more pissed off with people around me.

I have heard of links between gluten and autism. Many doctors suggest gluten free diets for children and adults with autism. However, I haven't heard anything about GAD and gluten free diets. Doesn't hurt to try I suppose!

I have GAD and have had it all my life.. I had an extremely acute 2 year period and am getting much better etc. I was given the option of SSRI's but preffered to try and live with it.. I have to drive to Nebraska and so one of my many phobias fears is Thunderstorms and Tornadoes etc. So am trying to get past this by educating myself and so I can face my fears. I would love any feedback help.

I look at GAD as a challenge to overcome. Personnally, I do not look at it as curable or uncurable. I believe that it is more of a "learnable" condition in my experience with it. Many times, our anxiety comes from confusion and misunderstanding of both the situation and how we feel about it, which is a good thing in my opinion, because those are factorst that we can control with some knowledge on how to do that. Are you planning to go seek counseling for this?

Will swelling and itching go away by continuing to take Lyrica. I started in my hands and feet. I have been taking it a month and the symptoms are daily but are mild and seem less and less. Today, it is only swelling on the top of my ear with slight itching. Should it continue taking it, because i heard that discontinuing could cause a seizure.

Has anyone been prescribed lyrica? I have, and have had great results with it for nerve pain in my right arm and hand. Opinions, please. My two other posts with more description vanished, so I will leave with this lol.

i just started lyrica yesterday...75mg...only taken it twice...could it ALREADY be helping my symptoms or is the "good feeling" just in my head?

I started Lyrica in Nov. O7'. I felt horrible for a long time. I went slowly. One pill a week, until I reached 150mg. I hurt all that time. After I had that 150mg ( not much) I started feeling better. It took so long.....more than a month. Finally, I did feel better. I did have breakthrough pain, nothing like I had before, but stabbing here and there. I still do! My Rhemy asked me to up my dose. I refused, as I had sides that put me asleep so often...

so for awhile when i missed the lyrica, i thought oh, i have vicodin...but as Vicodin off, more and more the lyrica helped.....but when I missed doses of everything..., It was by my wife keeping a diary, that I realized I was missing so many just a few days or even one...the Oh! went on... And now I have taken 3yrs without feeling the sick,sweaty feeling I felt when I missed dose.. I did not gain weight ..

Hi, Lyrica shouldn't be addictive at the low doses used for neuropathy. My grandmothers been on it or the other derivative, gabapentin, for years. Just take it at low doses. It works wonders for treating nerve pain though.
