lyrica

1088430 tn?1259159773 Hi! I'm hoping that anyone here who is taking Lyrica for nerve pain will be able to answer something for me...I'm newly on Lyrica (300mg daily) for chronic migraines/headaches and alot of burning that I've been having in my head. Neurologist gave Lyrica instead of Topamax b/c he said there's more than just the migraine issue going on b/c of all the burning. However, it's still officially undiagnosed at the present. I'm having very positive results so far.
Avatar f tn I also take a number of medications, including Topamax for migraine, blood pressure meds, Celebrex, asthma medication and diabetes medication. However I have had recurring visual disturbances that only happen at night. I get up in the middle of the night - to go to the bathroom - and the bathroom is covered in geometric patterns, like a checkered pattern or little lacework pattern. It's everywhere, the walls, tub, sink, floor. I feel like I'm tripping on something!
937140 tn?1246013288 I suggest that you the severity of your headaches and the way the disrupt your life with the physician that prescribes the lyrica for you. If you explain your lack of insurance and the pain of your headaches he may be helpful. There is a Headache/Migraine Forum on MH of you would like to post there in addition to our forum. Weekends can be a bit slow in posts and responses so it may take a bit. Best of luck to you. Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.
Avatar f tn I am 22 years old and am looking for some answers as to why I feel the way I do. My doctors initially thought I had migraine (even though I have had migraines for 15 years and told them it was nothing like a migraine) but changed their mind when migraine medication failed to work.
Avatar f tn The pain seemed to emanate from my shoulder and neck. I was treated at the E.R. for the migraine but nothing worked and I was sent home. I have had a headache EVERY day since then. The pain in my shoulder is daily and increases with use of my right arm, tingling and numbness down my arm to my finger tips are apparent when I turn my head toward the right.
Avatar f tn I've used Esgic Plus tablets for over 12 years for daily headaches, which often turned into vicious migraines. My family doctor gave me samples to try when Esgic Plus tablets first came out. Taking only one, with my usual 'four times a day aspirin doses' didn't get rid of the headache. It did dull the headache. Taken without the aspirin, the Esgic Plus actually set off the headache to a migraine.
Avatar n tn I have had Lyrica, neurontin, depakote, and topamax. I have reacted to all these drugs and I cannot take fioricet. If I specifically do not react to the drug I react to the preservatives in the drug such as lactose, sodium laural(th) sulfate, (or any other sulfate), artificial sweetener, and talc. Is there any drug out there I can take to prevent my migraines that does not have these preservatives? I am having migraines way too often. I have relpax but I can only take up to 3 per week.
1088430 tn?1259159773 t recognize Botox as a standard treatment for migraine headaches and the government will ONLY pay for what they consider "standard treatments" (so, the generic, most commonly prescribed form of a treatment), and in this case the government considers the daily treatments such as antidepressants, anticonvulsants and beta blockers the standard treatments for migraine headaches.
6726276 tn?1421126668 is getting lighter, and I DO NOT have any headaches anymore! I am taking my normal meds and with the additional Lyrica for Fibromyalgia and the MR- Tizanidine. My pain went from a 10+ to 0. When I start to feel pain or headaches, I now step back and see if I am holding on to something that is stressing me or causing anxiety.
Avatar f tn I have it infrequently (thank God) but it is like someone stabbing a knife in the side of my head and ear. Have you tried plain aspirin?
1926320 tn?1474966807 Tylenol with caffiene, and similar medications, can cause medication overuse headache if used too frequently. Lyrica, which is used for fibromyalgia, can be used for chronic headaches too. If you are not having relief from the typical over the counter medications, you will need to be seen by a neurologist to adjust your medications and perhaps address the migraines with preventative and abortive therapies.
Avatar f tn I am having really awful intermittent pain in my arm. My neuro wrote a script for Lyrica. My big concern about these nerve pain drugs (Neurontin too) is the weight gain side effect. I struggle w/weight as it is and don't look forward to adding more. Please let me know what you may have experienced.
Avatar n tn Hey! Glad you mentioned knowing that repetitive use of painkillers casues "rebound" headaches b/c my first advice would have been to tell you about them. I'm same as you, daily headaches for 6yrs w/ migraines & burning sensations in my head. Are you seeing a neurologist or just your primary care physician? I ask b/c my neurologist has put me on two different kinds of "preventitive" RX's (in my case Lyrica in the day, Pamelor @ night).
Avatar f tn I am so glad that Lyrica is working for you too. I swear it saved my life regarding sanity for the pain of daily migraines. I lstarted it in March 2008, and it has changed my life, She started me out slowly on it and increased it according to my headaches frequency. I was on 150mg 3x a day but I have gone down to twice a day. That seems to work for me. The reason I wanted to cut it back, or get off, was because of symptoms that may have come for this medication.
Avatar f tn I have had daily headaches for well over a couple years. Four to five years ago my doc thought they were migraines and I took Imitrex about once every 2 weeks. Then I started getting a worse headache from the Imitrex, like my entire head was supersensitive, my hair hurt. He sent me to a neurologist who diagnosed occiptal neuralgia. That doc has been giving me botox injections in my neck and prescribed Lyrica. I can't afford the Lyrica -- its $300 a month.
Avatar f tn It is important also that you identify possible triggers that could be responsible for your migraines. There is a migraine tracker here in Medhelp that you can use for this. If you can identify the triggers, you can also avoid recurrences of your headache. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 5 years old and was seen by a Neurologist that told us she suffered from migraine headaches. we have not been able to come up with anything that causes her headaches. We have tried keeping a diary and everything seems so random. Some of the headaches she gets will put her to bed for the night. Is there anything besides just letting her sleep it off i can do for her?
Avatar m tn Today I was prescribed Verapmil, does any body know any thing about this drug. I also take Tramadol for the headaches when I get them, and hydrocodone for a total knee replacement that did not help at all. I am averaging at least one migraine a week, it seems the older i get the worse they get. The doctor told me today that usually the get better with age. all they can tell me is that the headaches are hereditary.
231048 tn?1214354453 i just thought of something u know iw as taking alot of oxycontin and i always had to take something for headaches.....u would think that after having 500mg of oc running threw ur blood u wouldnt have a migraine...
Avatar f tn If it lasts for more than 4 hours it could be chronic tension headache, chronic migraine or altered migraine or hemicranias continua. Indomethacin is the drug of choice in hemicranias continua. In fact the diagnosis is considered confirmed if a patient responds to Indomethacin. Doctors should also rule out hormone imbalance and low estrogen as the cause of your headaches. Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please discuss these possibilities with your doctor once.
Avatar f tn i have had a migraine for seven days now. i have some numbness on my left side. i was diagnosed with a sinus infection and have been taking amoxicillin for 6 days now with no improvement. i feel groggy and tired all the time. and very irritable. any kind of noise, stress makes it worse. i have tried taking darvocett, maxalt, excederin migraine and none of these are working. Avatar f tn When her docs started treating as abdominal migraine first tried topamax (helped but side effects) then keppra (modest help) FINALLY LYRICA. It was like a light switch! Kept them from being almost every day down to once every three months or so. I am interested in the imitrex injectable. Glad to see someone has used it and it helped.
Avatar n tn I just started taking Lyrica for sciatic pain secondary to herniated discs. I've taken two 75-mg doses so far. On the second night, I was awakened by excruciating pain in my right leg, worse than what I was having pre-Lyrica. Has anyone experienced an increase in his/her nerve pain after starting Lyrica?
Avatar m tn I am waking up at 3:00 a.m. with severe migraine headaches. My blood pressure is 240/128. I am 26 yrs. old. I have no insurance. My neck has been stiff for about a week now. I went to the emerg. room and had a CT scan and they gave me some blood pressure medicine but the next day it came right back. I fall in the floor with pain and I have no where to go. Can you help me with these headaches and the blood pressure?
