Avatar m tn Hello all, i suffer from chronic back pain (black disk syndrome) due to 2 herniated and completely dehydrated disks. After trying anti inflammatory pills and injections as well as injections near the disks with xylocaine and contizone AND cortizone pills, the doctor suggested that i should try the cymbalta pills in order to relieve myself from pain. I take them for more than 2 weeks and i dont feel that they do something.
Avatar n tn I'm just curious, how acupuncture can help for a herniated disk? I'm sure it's does somehow, but I just don't understand physiologically how!
Avatar m tn Hello, I have been suffering from herniated disk for about 2-3 years now. I play basketball and have not been pain free for all this time. I am seeing a therapist (chiropractor) and my disk seems to be fine now after a lot of work. Even so, I always have the pain and I cant even jog without stiffening up. Is there somebody that can help me?
Avatar n tn I have a partial herniated disk or bulging disk at L5-S1 and told that I do not need surgery. I am in constant pain that never goes away. I have tingling in both feet and was told to see a foot surgeon he tooked one look at my MRI and laughed he said you have a L-5 disk injury no wonder your feet tingle. At the time the MRI was taken there was no tingling in my feet it only developed 2 months later.
Avatar f tn I still have pain by my shoulder blade, too. It was pretty severe, so my doctor put me on Lyrica, which is a medication for nerve pain. It has helped me tremendously. I was off work for 9 weeks (I have a desk job). My surgeon told me that it will be several months for the nerves to settle down. When they do this surgery, the nerves are kind of temporarily traumatized, and you should give it a little time.
Avatar f tn I have nerve pain in my arms and left leg related to this. Have you tried Lyrica for the nerve pain? It really did help me. I have been off it because we've been trying for our first child and really notice a signifant increase in pain. I don't think massage would be harmful if the person is trained in back and neck injuries. It actually helped me quite a bit. Also consider trying tizanadine or brand name zanalex for the spasms.
Avatar n tn I just started taking Lyrica for sciatic pain secondary to herniated discs. I've taken two 75-mg doses so far. On the second night, I was awakened by excruciating pain in my right leg, worse than what I was having pre-Lyrica. Has anyone experienced an increase in his/her nerve pain after starting Lyrica?
Avatar f tn I can only be out and walking around for under an hour before the pain from holding my head up and trying not to look down gets unbearable. I have had intermiten sharp crippling pain under my left shoulder blade worse with movement or use of the left arm. This pain is now appearing under my right shoulder blade, not as often but with use of my right arm the times the pain is present increases. I have had some lose of strength in my upper left arm and with use it feels like it goes to sleep.
Avatar n tn I have been having server head (back of head) and neck pain for about 4-5 weeks. I have had no relief of pain. I was hospitilzed in Feb for 3-4 days, and they say that I just have a cluster migrain. I keep telling tell that this is not my tiypical mygrain! it is different! I have sever head pain that sometime runs to my shoulder. I have to go to the hospital about every two weeks or so, just to get relief.
Avatar n tn If it is a herniated disk, the pain could definately radiate down the arms, legs, just about everywhere depending on what disk is bad. For example, I had a herniated disk at C6/C7 and my first symptoms were weakness in the left hand and left triceps. Later, I started to feel a burning pain in the left shoulder and latisimus dorsi. At first, I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel symdrome because of the weakness in my hand.
Avatar m tn Spencer...I'm surprised that xrays weren't taken before they even considered sending you to a specialist! If nothing else, an xray would have ruled out a tumor on the spine (Getting more common), then they could have proceeded to the spinal injury... Because it happened a year ago also, then a tumor is unlikely....The usually grow fast and the paralysis gets worse daily... I'd have to say that this is a herniated disk in the neck....
Avatar m tn Thought she wrenched her back and had it adjusted a couple of times at a chiropractor about 6 weeks ago. Pain subsided enough for her to finish the season. Last weekend, wrenched it again during a club team game. Went to orthopedist who had an xray done. To me, one of the lower vertabrae seemed out of place but I didn't say anything (there was also a physical therapist in the room and he seemed to notice the same thing). The ortho didn't make much of it.
Avatar f tn In most people, the pain of a herniated disk resolves over 4-6 weeks. The most severe pain actually eases up within 1-2 weeks. Only a minority of people every require surgery, and in some people if surgery was not indicated (if the herniated discs were not the cause of the pains), things could get worse. With time, the amount of disk that has herniated shrinks and with time resolves completely in most people. Therefore, for the majority of people, non-surgical treatment is the first option.
Avatar f tn I had a microdiskectomy for a herniated disk in May of 2010. All healed well and had not long term effects. Last Friday (Christmas Eve) I was taken to the ER due to extreme back/leg nerve pain. After and MRI we discovered that yet again there was a ruptured disk at L4 L5. Same exact problem as last time. I was told in the spring that I had less than 5% chance of recurrence. Why me??
Avatar f tn I have herniated disk compressing the nerve root so i have use a lot of pain keller to relief this cronic pain but nothing works for me even tramal, can anyone know why or have been in such situation
1943759 tn?1324045251 If it only lasts for a few days you can have him take Tramadol or Vicadin (but only for a few days). If the pain is there for long perioids of time then drugs that help neuropathies like neurontin or Lyrica may help. I don't usually recommend physical therapy but after the has gone down and if it is disk decompression there are some stretching exercises he can do daily that will help with the decompression. My brother in law has this and it has helped him a lot.
Avatar m tn Dear Sir or Madam, I have some questions: I was seeing an orthopedic doctor for shoulder impingement in Feb during which time I developed neck & back pain. Doc ordered MRI that revealed C5-6 posterior disk herniation indenting the ventral aspect of the thecal sac worse on right side. That said I made an appointment to see pysiatrist who performed an number of test. Which were: Sed Rate result 48 (high) Protein result 7.6 (normal) Aldolase result 5.
Avatar n tn After this surgery my leg pain went away but my back pain was still there. In January of 2011 that same disk herniated again with the pain down my left buttox and leg. After aonther MRI the surgen said he needed to remove this disk and fuse the area together. I have not been out of pain since then. Now the pain is in my back and my right buttox and leg. Just went for a 3rd MRI yesterday to determine what is next. I have been out of work for 2 1/2 months now and my job is not waiting for me.

Avatar m tn Then started having testicular pain and sharp pain in the rectum (Urologist diagnosed rectum pain as pelvic floor problem and physical therapy has been helping the rectum pain only). At first they suspected I had low testosterone but now my levels are 700 and all my blood tests are normal. I have had MRI of brain, thoracic, sacrum, and lumbar. Only thing that showed up was L5-S1 degenerative disk disease and slight S1 compression but neurologists said it can't cause these symptoms.
401890 tn?1372713529 Mild scolisos, arthritis, Level 2 osteoporosis, herniated disk (L4-L5), spinal stenosis, degenerative disk disease, sciatica of course and most recently chronic nerve damage. Cannot find out who can help me find out what normal is now. I feel like I am being passed around from doctor to doctor with only a diagnosis but no prognosis. What am I supposed to do now????
428266 tn?1295644780 I have been to so many different docs for pain in my back,I had 2 herniated disks in lower back and had surgery, I have neck pain with bulging disk. I had an MRI and shows I have spinal stenosis and degenerative disk disease. I have arm and leg pain, just had surgery for carpul tunnel waiting to do the other one. I have Planters Faschitis on right foot and neuroma on left. I was told I have fibromyalgia without anything else being ruled out.
