Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with gastroparesis in 2011 when after having my gallbladder removed, I experienced nausea and pain on my left shoulder blade and upper abdomen...it was horrible and I went from 123 pounds to 92 pounds..I finally got better but find myself getting flares like you are explaining...I have been getting issues of chest, neck and back achiness and pain for years...then the nausea for months...
Avatar m tn What is the standard treatment for Gastroparesis? Also any none standard treatments? Other than Surgery what else can be done for Colon narrowing (Due to Ulcerative Colitis)?
Avatar m tn I have a few questions I'm asking on behalf of a friend's 29-year-old daughter with well controlled juvenile diabetes and celiac disease, who is currently hospitalized with severe autonomic dysfunction--low blood pressure (70/40 on admission), incoherence (especially upon awakening in the morning, and often difficult to arouse), dizziness, lack of muscle tone--which she has developed over the past few months. I have limited but possibly helpful knowledge of her situation.
Avatar m tn Reglan is it- I refused it- Zelnorm worked for my gas- bloat but they took it off the market- I didn't have gastroparesis ( I was sure I did) but manometry showed goofy motility- and I also have gas /bloat after my fundo- unless you want to work with the bowel emptying- they tried me on Amitiza/ gave me diarrhea though. I like chewable acidopholus for the gut (GNC), as well as fiber choice OTC. You burping or any other symptoms.
280736 tn?1294198374 What is the best treatment for Gastroparesis? My 22 yr old daughter is so ill and has lost so much weight and is not getting any nutrition. She has been passing out and dizzy, I fear low blood sugar. The reglan made her so jittery and nervous, made it hard for her to take clients, she is a hair stylist. She is not diabetic. Is Zofran or domperidone better? Please any suggestions or help at all would be so appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have not tried anything herbal for the gastroparesis but they do have a good acidofilis that I really like, it is called pearls, they are very small and easy to take, besided gastroparesis (non diabetic) that comes and goes I have esophageal spasms, so small pills are best for me, but I also did feel better taking it. Erythromicin did not work well for me, It gives me ulcers, so I am left with reglan.
Avatar f tn My main question is for the gastroparesis. I am taking reglan for it and have for over a year. I am having severe side effects. The main one is severe blurry vision. It has also worsened my depression greatly and caused weight gain. It there anything else I can take to help my stomach fuction such as a tea so I can stop this medication? I did not take any today because I can not stand this anymore.
Avatar n tn My 30 year old daughter has just been diagnosed with idiopathic gastroparesis after suffering vomitting, nausea, diarrhea or constipation for 5 years. She is also borderline bi-polar II. One of her big problems is she has reactions to many meds. For instance, she cannot take any antihistamines, nor phenergan, or compazine because they result in severe akathesia. She can tolerate Reglan and is on that 4 times a day and has been prescribed Zofran, which helps some.
Avatar f tn Is it safe to take doxycycline hyclate for bronchitis since I have both intestinal cystitis and gastroparesis?
1469703 tn?1372041476 Thank you for the warm welcome! Unfortunately, foods high in fiber seem to make my stomach problems worse. I have an appointment with a Gi this week, so i'll ask her about the 4hr scan, I know she wants to do a colonoscopy and some bloodwork. But ill definitely ask her about that, thank you very much!
Avatar f tn Stormy, try going to www.gicare.com and finding the suggestions for a gastroparesis diet on that board. They don't have recipes, but they'll give you a good overview of what to eat or not eat. I'm surprised the hospital's dietician couldn't give you any ideas - did you try calling your doc?
Avatar m tn That is what I suspected. Thanks for the info. It is likely that my gastroparesis was caused by tricyclic antidepressants ( tofranil in my case ) which I have taken since 1975. My shrink agrees and we have agreed to wean off. He thinks the damage will be reversed after I am off of this med. Does that make sense to you?
Avatar f tn So far from what I have researched, the meds for gastroparesis does not work for most people. Alternatives are surgery such as connecting the esophagus to the small intestines (I think I have this right) or having a "pacemaker" implanted in the stomach. I appreciate any information you all are willing to share. Kim This discussion is related to Gastroparesis.
Avatar n tn lyrica is mostly for nerve pain..I just had fusion...lyrica is of little help..side effects are not great..dizziness, loss of concentration etc..
Avatar f tn I was on Lyrica for some time and gained TOO much weight...making me feel worse and ache more....I need something without that side effect....have been on Cymbalta too ....will savella take the place of both?
Avatar n tn I was looking for an alternative and discovered Lyrica, but then I saw the warning about addictive behavior. I don't want anything that will cause that feeling to return ever again. Are there any fellow addicts out there who have had experience with Lyrica?
1380526 tn?1292839385 I have severe facial nerve pain on the right side that won't go away...had it on the left side before my Chairi Decompression in 2009. My GP prescribed Lyrica...Gabapentin, Nortriptyline, Vicodin, etc weren't working...Been on the Lyrica for almost a week now and doesn't seem to be working either. Should I be seeing some results by now, or is it too soon? Anyone else had Lyrica for nerve pain like this? Or has something else helped? It is a horrible pain several times a day...
Avatar f tn I guess its good to gradually increase due to not knowing how it is going to affect you but when I increased the last time it was a 225mg increase at once and I was fine, the only thing bad about lyrica for me is the weight gain. Normally all I have to do is take one bite of food and it attaches itself to my body now all I have to do is look at it. But I am working on that.
Avatar f tn I was already on lyrica and I have found that if I've having a very bad day I can take an extra lyrica and it does help. It seems to help with the anxiety.
359574 tn?1328360424 Yes here is a Lyrica user who changed from Gabapentin which initially made me put on 14 pounds which I then worked very hard to lose. I have been on Lyrica since the summer and the weight is creeping up and I have put on another 7lbs...but think this may also have something to do with Christmas. I think that many drugs can affect our weight and that it is important to be aware of this, keep exercising when possible and watch your diet.
Avatar n tn However, you can always contact your local pharmacist for a definitive answer and/or you can input caffeine with lyrica and percocet into a interactions checker on the web. But I am pretty certain that you will not have any severe reactions. Take care.
