Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica for chronic pain

lyrica

Avatar m tn I feel hopeless, how do I get better? I have chronic fatigue, chronic insomnia, stinging pain/burning (head, testicules, feet, legs, kee, rectum), sexual dysfunction (can't orgasm or maintain erection), shrunken testes, no libido. Everything is just painful, feels delayed, not enjoyable. I don't know how to explain it more than that.
Avatar f tn Im on lyrica 75mg twice daily for chronic back pain .yes victoria ive all you have.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Darvocet but it does nothing for my pain. Skelaxin does nothing either. I was just started on Lyrica and have noticed a slight decrease in pain but I still have flares that are unbearable. I wish I could offer you suggestions but so far, I'm in the same boat as you.
Avatar n tn Sometimes that seems to be a cope out for docs. As far as Lyrica goes I started it 3 weeks ago for neuropathy and am just now starting to feel better and not have that spacey zombie feeling. My endo. said to give it 5 weeks for the side effects to wear off. Good luck and let me know if you want more info.
1326416 tn?1370927001 there are two groups chronic pain fibromyalgia are the main ones there's one for every thing
Avatar n tn in my feet, but also milder in my hands, which gets worse in the hot weather, and for which I take a low dose of nifedical each night with some relief of the redness, as well as 200 mg of lyrica per day which relieves a little of the burning pain; and pain (sharp, throbbing, aching, soreness) experienced for many years in my joints (knees, elbows, wrists, ribs shoulder, neck), exacerbated in my arm by use of the computer mouse, that isn't relieved by anti-inflammatories such as diclofenac.
Avatar n tn However, you can always contact your local pharmacist for a definitive answer and/or you can input caffeine with lyrica and percocet into a interactions checker on the web. But I am pretty certain that you will not have any severe reactions. Take care.
Avatar f tn I've been on Lyrica for about two years now, treated for chronic nerve pain. I had been up to 4 Vicodin a day because of the pain, and with the lyrica as a side RX my pain med dosage went down. My pain decreased. I was taking 50mg, I was feeling so good I stopped taking the Lyrica, but my pain was too much, had to go back on it. The side effects I have were sleepiness and weight gain.
Avatar f tn I have nerve pain in my arms and left leg related to this. Have you tried Lyrica for the nerve pain? It really did help me. I have been off it because we've been trying for our first child and really notice a signifant increase in pain. I don't think massage would be harmful if the person is trained in back and neck injuries. It actually helped me quite a bit. Also consider trying tizanadine or brand name zanalex for the spasms.
Avatar f tn I came of the Lyrica because it had ceased to work. I had been on it for 5 years and had increased to maximum dose without relief. They withdrew the Lyrica and gave me 60mg Amiltriptaline and I am now pretty much nerve pain free in my stump. Morphine I was taking because the pain was so bad but once the Amiltriptaline started there was not a need for it. Thank you so much for answering my post.
Avatar m tn 150 mg at night, and it has really helped alot with the pain. Im also on norco for my back / neck pain, but the lyrica has been a great help to me. However it is expensive if you don't have insurance. Good luck to you all who suffer from this. I know quite a bit about neuropathy if I can help any one.
Avatar f tn I have chronic pain from C1 to mid back, at times the pain radiates around to my left chest andd down my left arm. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia years ago, But, I don't think this is fibromyalgia pain since it is more localized. I have taken Lyrica without any reduction in pain. Who should I see concerning the pain, a general practitioner, orthopedic, neurologist? An ER doctor tlold me that I had neuritis.
Avatar f tn I saw my physiatrist last week for the increasing pain I am having related to my syrinx. He advised me to check back in with my NS, and gave me a script for Cymbalta. Apparently, this anti-depressant also works on nerves. I'm definitely not a depressed person - so I had my reservations for Cymbalta, but the pharmacist re-assured me that my dr prescribed it for neuro issues. However, my insurance is not picking up the Cymbalta, so my dr ordered Paroxetine in its place.
491030 tn?1242424766 I am currently on Lyrica and I can say that at a high enough dose it works for my chronic pain. I have found that the pain only started reducing once I moved to 300mg/day, but it took 600mg/day to get a worthwhile reduction. For me it has meant that I can stand or sit for much longer before pain breaks through. There are two sets of side effects - a transient phase, of a few weeks; and the chronic side effects that accompany long term daily use.
Avatar f tn I am taking Lyrica for chronic nerve pain.It has helped me so much.I have read the side effects and it also scared me...........I have had no ill side effects while on it at all.I have not gotten off of it yet but my doctor said he would wean me down slow and I would be fine.Do what you think is right for you.Talk to your doctor and tell him your concerns.
Avatar f tn I have used Lyrica (pregabalin) for 3 months so far and it works for my thoracic back pain and neck pain. Lyrica is an anti-convulsant. Before trying it, or one of the other anti-convulsants (eg gabapentin, carbamazepine, etc), get your doc to check your blood pressure, cholesterol, kidney and liver function, weight, blood cell shape and white cell count. That gives you a solid baseline for comparing against later on, ie when on the medication.
209591 tn?1267414714 d definitely see about better pain control. Depending on the pain, opiates will work for some pain, other meds for other pain, but whatever it is, get you an appropriate big-time drug and see how much your attitude improves. Also, whatever medicine you're on now, review it for "depression" side effects, and perhaps adjust those as-needed. And remember that going off that Cymbalta, even slowly, takes some real getting used to.
1088430 tn?1259159773 Hi! I'm hoping that anyone here who is taking Lyrica for nerve pain will be able to answer something for me...I'm newly on Lyrica (300mg daily) for chronic migraines/headaches and alot of burning that I've been having in my head. Neurologist gave Lyrica instead of Topamax b/c he said there's more than just the migraine issue going on b/c of all the burning. However, it's still officially undiagnosed at the present. I'm having very positive results so far.
Avatar f tn Also I have heard of some people taking Lyrica for fibromyalgia pain, and Also you can take Neurontin/ Gabapentin for nerve pain (for the peripheral neuropathy) None of these have tylenol in them. Hope this helps and good job on being clean for 12 years!!
Avatar f tn I have nerve pain also, and Lyrica has been helping me for the past 8 months.
237152 tn?1206651036 My pain dortor gave it too me too and I had alot of success with it
Avatar f tn I would give the lyrica a couple weeks to get the full effect you will get from it. Cymbalta is used for pain control as well as depression. A lot of PM doctors go by the fact that if you have chronic pain then you do have or will develop depression. This is why Cymbalta was made to have a medication that can treat both. I would definitely try it as it could be the medication that helps you the most.
237152 tn?1206651036 My pain doc says neurontin is a much safer drug than lyrica and wants me to stick to the neurontin.....lyrica does have a euphoria associted with it with use for some....especially at first....
Avatar n tn m also on Lyrica along with methadone and oxycodone for chronic low back/leg pain. The Lyrica is for my leg pain, which is caused by "nerve pain" as my doctor tells me. I think it may also have some antidepressant qualities, or something like that. I should know, since I have been taking it since the drug went on the market! I'm going to do a little research and find out what I can about Lyrica, just "for the fun of it"!.
209591 tn?1267414714 s might say or do, if I tell them how I have been feeling this last few months. What can I do to help me get out of this funk? Could it be the chronic pain I experience, that is causing this depression?
Avatar n tn I have been reading many of the posts here and feeling so scared about the dreadful withdrawal and suffering that goes on. I have a chronic pain condition and have been taking percocet for 1.5 years, I know I already have a dependency as I feel the withdrawal symptoms when I do not take it. I have just started lyrica and hope that it decreases my pain to the point that I can get off the percocet entirely.
