Lyrica for back pain

Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica for back pain

lyrica

Avatar f tn Well, Lyrica helped my back pain, but my pain was in one place and didn't run down my leg. One thing that should be checked by a doc is how his circulatory system is doing down in his thigh, to make sure he hasn't got a clot going or something that is blocking the blood from getting down in there right, cuz it can hurt real bad, too.
Avatar n tn lyrica is mostly for nerve pain..I just had fusion...lyrica is of little help..side effects are not great..dizziness, loss of concentration etc..
Avatar f tn I have been having acute back and nerve pain for many years, after a failed spinal operation. I am currently taking 50 Mcg.patches of Fentayl plus 50 Mgs of Tramadol.. 4 times a day. My primary care doctor has now prescribed adding 50 mg of Lyrica, twice a day. Can I start the Lyrica while still on the patches and Tramadol and How can I reduce the Tramadol while continuing Fentayl with the Lyrica with minimalTramadol withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar m tn 150 mg at night, and it has really helped alot with the pain. Im also on norco for my back / neck pain, but the lyrica has been a great help to me. However it is expensive if you don't have insurance. Good luck to you all who suffer from this. I know quite a bit about neuropathy if I can help any one.
299889 tn?1257339377 t give up after a few weeks..let it go for over a month. It worked for me. I am back in school and am getting my life back. Of course that doesnt' happen for everyone, but don't give up so quickly.
Avatar n tn However, you can always contact your local pharmacist for a definitive answer and/or you can input caffeine with lyrica and percocet into a interactions checker on the web. But I am pretty certain that you will not have any severe reactions. Take care.
Avatar m tn Lyrica is for nerve pain, percocet and other pain meds usually wont help nerve pain.
359574 tn?1328360424 Yes here is a Lyrica user who changed from Gabapentin which initially made me put on 14 pounds which I then worked very hard to lose. I have been on Lyrica since the summer and the weight is creeping up and I have put on another 7lbs...but think this may also have something to do with Christmas. I think that many drugs can affect our weight and that it is important to be aware of this, keep exercising when possible and watch your diet.
Avatar n tn I am only about 7 weeks post cervical fusion, but I have the same type of pain. I asked my doctor about Lyrica, and he gave me a script. My pain in the shoulderblade area went from about an 8 to about a 3 or 4. That was about 3 weeks ago that I started. I have a worse day here or there, but I would not be here typing if it weren't for the Lyrica. If you have tried everything else, you may want to give this medication a shot. I am almost totally off the opiates now because of it.
Avatar n tn But in the past two years I have had a flare up in my neck causing me to have headaches and a flare up in the back going down my side. I was on Lyrica for the headaches and they went away. The back and side pain gradually subsided and I stayed pain free for 5 months. Now it started in the back again and I feel pain all through the back muscles, down my right side and occasionally the left side into my groin area on left side and sometimes down my right leg.
Avatar f tn Im on lyrica 75mg twice daily for chronic back pain .yes victoria ive all you have.
Avatar f tn I saw my physiatrist last week for the increasing pain I am having related to my syrinx. He advised me to check back in with my NS, and gave me a script for Cymbalta. Apparently, this anti-depressant also works on nerves. I'm definitely not a depressed person - so I had my reservations for Cymbalta, but the pharmacist re-assured me that my dr prescribed it for neuro issues. However, my insurance is not picking up the Cymbalta, so my dr ordered Paroxetine in its place.
Avatar f tn my friend had back surgery and was prescribed to percocet for his back pain. Then he told me they gave him one day lyrica. He hated it. But still keep in mind he and I also were looking for that "buzz". Or just google it and it will tell you all about it.
Avatar f tn I have used Lyrica for thoracic back pain and neck pain. I have found that it is a tough drug to use because of the side effects; but then it blocks a lot of the pain that I otherwise experience. While neurontin and lyrica are considered to be of the same class of drugs, they do behave in sufficiently different ways to be worth trying one if the other is not adequate. Weight gain, sedation, and motivation are the three principal side-effects that are difficult to control when I'm on lyrica.
Avatar f tn I've been on Lyrica for about two years now, treated for chronic nerve pain. I had been up to 4 Vicodin a day because of the pain, and with the lyrica as a side RX my pain med dosage went down. My pain decreased. I was taking 50mg, I was feeling so good I stopped taking the Lyrica, but my pain was too much, had to go back on it. The side effects I have were sleepiness and weight gain.
Avatar f tn I have fibromyalgia as well and my pain has come back big time since I stopped taking the pain meds. Lyrica is an anti-epileptic drug like neurontin. I am on neurontin it helps with the withdrawals but I don't find any relief for the pain.
Avatar m tn I do know people who take it for pain...I take nuerontin which is similar but not quite as strong...it works for them....not known to be addictive...
237152 tn?1206651036 my luck it takes a while to get addicted and u will see me on here asking for help with a lyrica addiction lol......but as for now i think it is a safe med...good luck swetie....happy easter!!!!
Avatar f tn I am having really awful intermittent pain in my arm. My neuro wrote a script for Lyrica. My big concern about these nerve pain drugs (Neurontin too) is the weight gain side effect. I struggle w/weight as it is and don't look forward to adding more. Please let me know what you may have experienced.
333535 tn?1227018609 The only thing I take for the pain of it all is lyrica and sunday afternoon I went shopping for about 4 hours, in and out of the car not just walking around one place, so i got some breaks and i seriously wanted someone to shoot me!! I was in so much pain I thought I would totally lose it! SO I guess what I am trying to say is I hope it works for you, try to be positive and maybe it will!
