Avatar m tn Hello Papagarv1, Welcome. Sorry I am late in responding to your question. You've asked for no judgement - you won't get that from me. Very sadly ppl in chronic pain have been driven to all kinds sources to treat it. I don't condone buying opiates off the street, especially such a complex med like Methadone. Her risks are very very high! Please do your research. My concern is for her physical safety. Now I'll shut up and answer your question.

Avatar m tn I was given lyrica for nerve pain in my legs about four years ago. I didn't take a lot of it, only about 50 mgs every other day. My pain got worse, so I asked the doctor if I could double the dose. Doubling just the first couple of times caused swelling in my mouth and around my eyes, so I dropped lyrica altogether. In no time I was hit with xanax type withdrawal symptoms: depersonalization, lack of concentration and dizziness being the most frightening.
Avatar m tn I was given the medicine Lyrica, which is for fibromyalgia, which I do not have, and that medicine takes the low back pain away, as well as in my feet! I have been taking it for nearly a year now, and I am not only more comfortable, my mind is able to focus better because I'm not distracted by so much pain. So, I think you should ask your doctor to give it to you, and see if it helps.
Avatar f tn Doctor finally listened and believe I do have fibromyalgia. Every trigger point she touched made me wanna jump out the chair. She said the anxiety medicine she has me on should help with the fibro...does anyone know about this??
Avatar f tn In 2007, the Food and Drug Administration approved Pregabalin (Lyrica) as the first drug for the treatment of fibromyalgia. In June 2008, a second drug, Cymbalta, which was previously approved for treating depression, was FDA approved for treating fibromyalgia as well. In 2009 the FDA approved milnacipran (Savella) for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Perhaps mention these to your doctor at next visit. Best wishes!
1218873 tn?1300091216 Hi i wondered if anyone could explain there experience of Pregabalin (Lyrica?) i have been on Gabapentin for the last 3 months with only a little success (the twitches have reduced considerably) but no relief pain. Now the Dr is going to swap me to Pregabalin which has to be done slowly to switch from one to the other, so this will start as soon as I'm home from holiday. I wondered if anyone had done this and what there experience of the drugs are?
Avatar f tn While pregabalin, known as "Lyrica" in the States, has unlabeled uses for GAD and SAD, (Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder) it is primarily prescribed here for fibromyalgia and neuropathic pain associated with peripheral neuropathy. Nowhere can I find that it is beneficial for sleep problems, although one of it's side effects IS "fatigue," I don't think that is the desired effect for a sleep aid.
Avatar m tn This is alittle late in coming, by 4 years almost, but in July 2011 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I was started on Lyrica 75 mg/2 times a day.... November 2011 I was hospitalized in severe diabetic distress. BG level 571 and urinating Kitones... my pancreas is now inopperable and clinically diagnosised as a type 1 diabetic.... have you been informed of any link to lyrica and pancreas related failure?
10354469 tn?1409533617 but it feels like i need to run them under cold water or i have to hold a cold water bottle and same thing with my feet. Is this part of fibromyalgia or is it something else? Any one else have this happen to them?
Avatar f tn Some medications to ask about other than benzodiazepines (i.e. Xanax), are Buspar (buspirone) or another one that is fairly new is Lyrica (pregabalin). These do take time to work (several weeks) so they need to be taken on a regular basis. Maybe your doctor will feel more comfortable prescribing one of those. Increasing your dose of Savella will not help with anxiety. It is more for depression and fibromyalgia.
2107676 tn?1388973859 Ahhh it ***** to be here again. I have been battling addiction for what seems like forever but it's been close to 2 years since my decision to quit and I had been using for a good 5 by then. I was a victim 2 years ago. I was angry, buried in grief from losing my husband and sister and had driven all of my family and friends away. Today I am still battling my addiction and while I haven't let my friends back in, I am working on my family.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Lyrica for over 15 years. It helped with chronic and diabetic nerve pain. I have gone from 500 a day down to 200 a day. I cannot sleep at night, gained weight and have severe itching and may have suicide ideology. If there is another drug you can take, take it.
Avatar m tn Has anyone considered Fibromyalgia? Talk to your Dr. about Cymbalta, Lyrica. Consider any kind of exercise. If you have Medicare, there's a benefit, Silver Slippers, that give you a free membership to any health/fitness facility that participates. If so, go for the one with all the good stuff: pool, sauna, whirlpool, etc. The one I found offers everything from Aquasize to Zumba. And Yoga, which is good for mind, body & soul. Consider Flector Patches & Voltaren Gel.
Avatar m tn Pregabalin is known as Lyrica in the States and is prescribed primarily to relieve neuropathic pain if you have diabetes or in the area of your rash if you have had shingles. It is also used to treat fibromyalgia. Pregabalin is used with other medications to treat certain types of seizures in people with epilepsy. Pregabalin is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. It works by decreasing the number of pain signals that are sent out by damaged nerves in the body.
