lyrica

1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi guys, I'm investigating Lyrica, and a switch over maybe, I'm almost at the max of Gabapentin, so am looking into other options. I have heard though that so many people GAIN lots of weight with Lyrica..... have you folks found that to be a problem?? My mother is 79 and was put on Lyrica..( not to sure why), but apparently gained 40 pounds in 7 weeks, and I for soure don't want that. Extra weight is also hard on us with MS........
Avatar f tn I was wondering what are the options for pain meds that I have for fibromyalgia?
Avatar f tn t seem to be helping at all anymore. I have asked about Physical Therapy and Lyrica and was told that they only use those for really bad patients. I have a 1 year old little boy that I stay at home with and most days its all I can do to take care of him and keep up with him. I don't sleep but can't stay awake...I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. Also, for a year I have been having trouble with joint pain and severe swelling of my joints. They will turn black and blue.
427265 tn?1444076436 Has anyone's Dr. recommended double dosing? I was under the assumption that it was a personal choice people made and did on their own. If I don't decide to go with a trial, my Dr. wants me to double dose peg 180 mg 2x per week and 1400-1600 copeg (weight based) for 4 weeks. If RVR at 4 weeks, continue SOC for a total of 48 weeks. If no RVR, continue double dosing until week 12, the SOC to 72 weeks.
Avatar f tn I saw that if a man fathers a child while taking Lyrica, the baby may have birth defects. My daughter's fiance' was just put on Lyrica and I read this. They will be getting married soon and will want to start a family within the next year. How conclusive and accurate is this statement? HELP!!!!
Avatar f tn Only one of the medications that I take is listed under treatment options - it is hard to document when I take my PRN meds, or even that I took my regular meds when they aren't listed. Meds like Abilify, Trileptal, Tegretol, Seroquel, Resperidol......I think those are some that should be added! Thanks!
382218 tn?1341181487 A simple thing to try is the addition of a small dose of amitriptyline (20mg or less) at night. It can be great for additional nerve pain relief, but is a bit sedating so it is best used at night. I'm with your physician. If the Neurontin seems to be helping, but not enough, try it for several weeks and maybe request something to boost it a bit like the amitriptyline.
293157 tn?1285873439 hi everyone, my Neuro gave me some Lyrica to use for my pain in my legs, I took my first pill around noon today...75mg..he said to take it for a week..then go up to 150mg..two pills. well, not long after I took it, I felt horrible...like I was drunk or stoned or something strange...I didn't make sense.. felt horrible.. then I fell asleep on the couch for a few hours. I didn't even notice my legs..didn't care either..strange feeling....
Avatar f tn I am having really awful intermittent pain in my arm. My neuro wrote a script for Lyrica. My big concern about these nerve pain drugs (Neurontin too) is the weight gain side effect. I struggle w/weight as it is and don't look forward to adding more. Please let me know what you may have experienced.
Avatar n tn There are lots of other options to try. You should ask your neuro what is available to you. Have you tried others? Carbomazapine is Tegretol, the 'go-to' drug for TN and is often used by some doctors as a diagnostic tool at the start. But it's not for everyone. I am one of those. I am allergic to it. (my rash is seen in my photos if you need it). For me, the side effects are worse than TN itself for me, but others have said it's life changing.
Avatar m tn Prescribed 100 MG of Lyrica twice a day and Elavil 25 mg at night. Dr. said can take Elavil during the day for pain..Can't function.. What is another drug besides Elavil that will help with pain and not cause terrible side efforts?
1655815 tn?1306930462 I GET ELECTRICAL SHOCKS ALL OVER TOO. SINCE TAKING LYRICA, THE ELECTRICAL SHOCKS HAVE DIMISHED SOME, BUT THE BURNING SENSATION IS BECOMING UNBEARABLE AS IT IS SOMETIMES CONSTANT AND ALL OVER!
Avatar f tn Both of us tried so hard to \control it but her sugars were impossible the past year her sugars have been from, very good to excellent. They put her on to lyrica which did help but suddenly the pain rose to her stomache and shooting through to her back. It seems as if the pain has been rising up her body and my fear is what happens if it reaches her chest then throat? They put her through so many tests finding nothing. She is only 20 yrs old and anorexic looking so fragile and weak.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have had fibro for 9 years, it started with my last pregnancy. As you all know some day s are better than others. I was wondering what types of meds others have tried. I take Neruonton and vicodine. I want to get of the last one if I can. I can't take lyrica. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with secondary autoimmune adrenal insufficiency in December. I feel lousy most of the time, have chronic abdominal pain and abnormal stools, and feel best flat on my back...which doesn't work well for someone who works 12 hour shifts in a busy ER while selling one house, building another, and has 2 teens and a disabled husband, lol. Here's my question. If a person has say diabetes, their meds are based on their blood sugars.
Avatar f tn I have no idea why there would be that limit on Xanax in the first place. That would be the first thing to learn, what is it toxic to? For example, you can't take too many Tylenol in a day because it's liver toxic. So what is Xanax toxic to? The main problem with taking it the way you're taking it is it's addictive taken that way, and as with all addictive drugs, eventually you keep increasing the dose just to run in place.
Avatar f tn Ive been on lyrica and nuvigil fro fibro pain and fatigue, and just found out I'm pregnant. I'm just wondering if anyone else has taken either one of those while pregnant. I've stopped them for i was on only 50 mg of lyrica and about 100 of nuvigil. but I'm still worried, and i feel like I've been hit by a train once again, the pain is almost unbearable, i know my doc personally, have an appt. with him for the 12th.
Avatar n tn You should speak with your doctor about medication options. We can only give you information in generalities here. Lyrica is approved to treat Fibromyalgia in the US. If you have Fibromyalgia and Arthritis you may need to take more than one medication, but like I mentioned before, this is something you really should discuss with your doctor to make sure you are treating your illness the best way. How long have you had this condition for?
233622 tn?1279334905 he has me dosing three times a day - I take it first thing in the morning. then when I get home from work and the final one at bedtime. He did say that I could take more and sometimes I take one at work if my body feels like it isn't working right. The most i have taken is 40mg in a day.
Avatar f tn s per day and oxycodone 30mg 1x per day for breakthrough pain. I also take Cymbalta, Lyrica and Zanaflex. I have been taking the same meds for 3 years and they barely put a dent in my pain. My pain gets unbearable frequently. I get pain down both legs. My pain dr has decided that I should stop the pain meds (with dr assistance for withdrawl). The dr said that the pain meds are making my pain worse. I truly do not understand how.
Avatar f tn Call your local pharmacist. We at MedHelp are not allowed to give out dosing instructions. Your pharmacist will be able to tell you exactly how to dose the medications. If your regular pharmacy is closed on Sunday, call any pharmacist availabe at your local grocery store or drug store such as Walgreens, CVS, or RiteAid.
