Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica dosage trigeminal

lyrica

Avatar f tn Hello MS Community- I am on a very lose dose of Gabapentin 100 mg 3X per day for trigeminal nerve. I was initially on 300 mg 3X per day but it made me very lethargic so neuro reduced to 100. I have been reading about the side effects and regardless of the dose, balance, gait, and coordination are listed as being impacted. Many people have commented that anything less than 1200 mg per day will not improve trigeminal nerve. My face is numb, but I am not in any pain.
279234 tn?1363105249 My neuro just told me to increase my dose of Lyrica, which did help a fair amount. My insurance only pays for a limited number of Lyrica monthly, so I'm hoping I don't get too many TN attacks! Good luck; I know how awful the pain can be.
Avatar n tn What tablets are you taking?
Avatar m tn There is a chance of a misdiagnosis here if Tegretol is not working. It is the gold standard for treating trigeminal neuralgia. If it is not working, it may possibly be pain of some other cause. The neurologist may be able to help you sort this out.
382218 tn?1341181487 A simple thing to try is the addition of a small dose of amitriptyline (20mg or less) at night. It can be great for additional nerve pain relief, but is a bit sedating so it is best used at night. I'm with your physician. If the Neurontin seems to be helping, but not enough, try it for several weeks and maybe request something to boost it a bit like the amitriptyline.
Avatar f tn My doctor confirmed yesterday, 8/27/2012 that I do have trigeminal neuralgia on the left side of my face. She prescribed Tegretol 200mg to start. I was supposed to start last night however I am a little scared of what kind of side effects I will experience from this medication. I left a message for my doctor to call me back as I would like to see if I could cut the pill in half to take only 100mg to start.
Avatar n tn I may have trigeminal neuralgia in the mandibular branch. Severe pain in the lower gum area but it is on both sides which has my PC doctor, my neurolgist, my pain management dr, my neurosurgeon and my accupuncturist all baffled. Meanwhile, I am on Lyrica, which is becoming ineffective, Vicodin, which does not help much, and Ambien to knock me out at night to get some sleep. Is anyone out there who has experienced such a problem that can head me in the right direction? I am losing hope.
Avatar m tn I have been suffering with Trigeminal Neuralgia since 2006. I have done some reading that states people do take flexeril. Is this med helpful for nerve pain?
526311 tn?1229286330 t know how much I can help but my hubby takes Lyrica 600mg a day which is the maximum dosage. He is also on oxycontin, both for severe back pain. The oxycontin he craves and is addicted to (currently tapering down from) but the Lyrica he does not crave at all and sometimes doesn't take any at all during the day.
195469 tn?1388322888 I have been given Lyrica by my Neuro. I have been going up slowly on the dosage for three weeks. I am now at 150 mgs. twice a day. I feel terrible. I am dizzy, my brain is in a complete fog. I am having typing simple sentences. I am running into walls, I feel like I have to lay down. This stuff is making me sick as you know what. Please give me some advice. This can't be normal. It sure isn't helping the pain. Is this going to go away with more time or what is going on.
Avatar f tn I had a sliped and fall accident 3 moths ago. I fell on the left side of my face and brusied the trigeminal nerve per neurologist dignosis. I'm taking Lyrica for the sharp pain under my left eye. I have being told that the nerve will regenerate. How long that it usually takes ?. This discussion is related to Will bruised nerve regenerate fully?.
Avatar f tn I also took Lyrica for approx. 6 mos. My dosage was 75mg. per day. While it did help, I didn't care for the cognitive side-effects so I discontinued it. The dosage will be different depending upon what is being treated and how the drug interacts in your body. For some a small dose is effective; others will work up to the higher amts. over time. I hope it is effective for you and you get some relief soon.
Avatar f tn I use it for Trigeminal Neuralgia. I currently take 600 mg 3x a day. It has helped with SOME of the nerve pain in my lower back too.
Avatar n tn However, I had the same symptoms you were having and was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. Its where one or more of the three main nerves in your face cause nerve pain, or neuralgia. The first nerve lays across the eyebrows, the second lays across your cheek bones and the third nerve lays across the chin. My doctor put me on Lyrica and Klonopin and it seems to help a little, although the pain does intensify and the pain medication does not work for it since it is nerve pain.
Avatar m tn has anyone ever been perscribed Lyrica for cronic pain. If so how much do you take, and how long did it take to notice any results. I started taking 50MG's 3X's a day. I started last Tuesday, and haven't noticed any difference in my pain. any feedback would be great.
Avatar n tn Already she had two pain blocks, neither worked at all and now they want to do a Radio Frequency abrasion - I am concerned about her diagnosis, atypical trigeminal neuralgia -- being treated like the regular Trigeminal Neuralgia, the pain symptoms do not match -- did yours start this was and progress into the trigeminal neuralgia They have all her dental recorrds, even an MRI plus another ct from emergency room earlier this year, and all the records from the pain clinics -- yet pain symtoms
Avatar m tn I took neutontin for several years until it started to take more and more to acheive the same level of pain relief at which time my Doctor switched me to LYRICA 75mg 3 times a day. Except for the occassional flare up the LYRICA seems to work.
359574 tn?1328360424 She gave me a little anatomy lesson sketch and explained why the suspected aneurysm on my internal carotid is unlikely to be the cause of my TN, as the 1st branch of the trigeminal nerve is pretty far away from that artery. She said she had been asking some others what they thought and someone suggested a nerve from the back of my head wrapping around to the eye, but she pressed all over and couldn't make the pain worse.
Avatar f tn Hello all. My neuro has never actually said I have trigeminal neuralgia, he's treated my imaginary facial pain with various anti-seizure meds, recently I have used the diabetic med, lyrica, which works. Question I have is, if bilateral trigeminal neuralgia is only common in ms, why can't THAT be a diagnostic aid, much like optic neuritis? Should I have asked him to NAME my facial pain? To get him to admit something is up with me?
Avatar f tn is there any way to manage trigeminal neuropathy (not neuralgia)? I regularly get 2-3 extreme episodes a month. There is constant pain in my entire head ,face and throat. When it flares up it lasts 3 days before I can actually talk or drink much.Cannot be effectively treated is the answer I have received from my pain specialist. Have gone off all narcotics, opiods, etc.
