Lyrica dosage treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica dosage treatment

lyrica

Avatar f tn According to the Lyrica website you could feel relief as soon as one week, but for some people it may take longer. It also depends on how high your dosage is right now. Like every treatment, everyone is different. Lyrica was not for me. I would be grateful if someone on the forum would add to this post with their Lyrica experiences. Tuffycup, please tell us what dosage you are currently at and how long you've been on it so we can best advise you.
382218 tn?1341181487 A simple thing to try is the addition of a small dose of amitriptyline (20mg or less) at night. It can be great for additional nerve pain relief, but is a bit sedating so it is best used at night. I'm with your physician. If the Neurontin seems to be helping, but not enough, try it for several weeks and maybe request something to boost it a bit like the amitriptyline.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed way to many years ago and i'm tired I had my last baby in 86 and have been suffering since 1990. I have been on every drug they can think up and its always the same eventually you get to a point when they stop working and you hit the wall. I was taking Phentermine but they took it off the market it helped with the fatigue. Now I take Dexidrine, allertec and Strattera to get me through the day Rivitril to keep me asleep, I take Narcotics for pain Ocycontin and Lyrica.
Avatar f tn So is my math right in that if I take 2 pills every 6 hours, 5200mg of Tylenol? He also prescribed me Lyrica 150mg but I am not getting any relief with that... I've had Vicodin 5-500 before, but prescribed by my Primary Care..seemed to work well other than having to take it so often + it also contained Tylenol. I am a bit frightened by the Darvocet, not to mention it is not as strong as Vicodin? I am only 25..I am not trying to kill my liver and kidneys.
Avatar m tn But she said in Europe the FDA approved Lyrica for anxiety treatment. Its supposedly non addictive. However reviews i have read, users complain of weight gain and increased appetite which my weight is one of my anxieties. Has anyone else tried Lyrica before for anxiety? Its used here is in the US for fibromyalgia, but I took 2 and didn't feel anything so I'm not taking them.
526311 tn?1229286330 t know how much I can help but my hubby takes Lyrica 600mg a day which is the maximum dosage. He is also on oxycontin, both for severe back pain. The oxycontin he craves and is addicted to (currently tapering down from) but the Lyrica he does not crave at all and sometimes doesn't take any at all during the day.
Avatar f tn I also took Lyrica for approx. 6 mos. My dosage was 75mg. per day. While it did help, I didn't care for the cognitive side-effects so I discontinued it. The dosage will be different depending upon what is being treated and how the drug interacts in your body. For some a small dose is effective; others will work up to the higher amts. over time. I hope it is effective for you and you get some relief soon.
Avatar m tn has anyone ever been perscribed Lyrica for cronic pain. If so how much do you take, and how long did it take to notice any results. I started taking 50MG's 3X's a day. I started last Tuesday, and haven't noticed any difference in my pain. any feedback would be great.
1218873 tn?1300091216 I thought the Lyrica worked reasonably well although in a short period of time I had to up my dosage to 100 mg 3x/day. I'm currently taking that + 300 mg gabapentin/day with not a lot of releif... I take it for TN, though, and that is notoriously resistant. Other experience: Lyrica is MUCH more expensive (even with insurance I pay about $50/month for Lyrica, compared to $5 for generic gabapentin!) Good luck.
1168718 tn?1464983535 the pain before was a 20 on the pain scale felt likea ice pick being jabbed into my legs over and over again.
645800 tn?1466860955 Well I tried out the new lower dosage (50mg caps) of Lyrica last night. At least I wasn't so out of it that I didn't even remember going to bed. In fact quite the opposite. It took five hours for me to get sleepy enough to even try going to sleep and my vision got very blurry. But I'm not sure I can blame either on the Lyrica. I was kind of anxious about how this dosage would effect me due to what happened with the higher dosage.
Avatar m tn awful side-effects. Lyrica, well, I was on that for quite some time, they kept upping the dosage, but it really did not help. I am currently on Cymbalta, 90mg; which I have to take in 2 pills (60 & 30) because they don't make a 90mg. Anyway, the Cymbalta doesn't really seem to help all that much either... Now, they said I should take Lyrica AND Cymbalta together. I haven't had the script filled yet, so I don't know how that will be, but, I have heard that it helps some.
10704670 tn?1412128715 I'm wondering if one can build up a "tolerance" to a Lyrica dosage? I've been taking Lyrica for fibromyalgia for several years, and have been taking a low dosage of just 75 mg. once nightly. For over a month, now, I've been having achy joints in wrists, elbows, and feet -- along with ache behind my eyes, nervousness, and worst of all, "flu-like" feelings going throughout the body.
Avatar m tn I was on 50 mg taken at night together with rivotril. My psychiatrist reduced my dosage of lyrica to 25mg. Apart from general anxiety, I understand it helps with pain and induces sleep. I sleep quite well now, and in the morning and day time, I don't feel too tired. My doctor feels lyrica suits me and I may be on it for a while longer. Does it help with your pain?
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken lyrica for fibromylasia and found increased pain instead of decrease?
5333788 tn?1366569346 Was taking Lyrica since Jan/Feb 2013 for fibromyalgia. Dosage went to 50mg 3x a day to 200mg 1x in the morning, 1x in the evening. Then, in this month was seen by a doctor who increased the dosage from 200mg to 400mg, 200 in the morning, 200 in the evening. Started to feel "high." Reduced medicine to 300mg, 100mg 1x in the morning, 200mg in the evening. Still felt "high." Cried all day through out the day.
Avatar f tn "Are you still in treatment or are you 6 months post treatment? Did you take the lyrica and neurotin during treatment? " No, I'm not still on treatment. I did 12 weeks last fall and didn't respond. My peripheral neuropathy didn't rear its ugly head until about week 10, at which point I started going to my primary care doc and annyoing him to death. It got progressively worse for a few months, until I went and insisted on pain medication.
Avatar f tn ve heard both good and bad reports about those taking Lyrica. The results would depend upon your body and dosage. Lyrica has numerous side-effects (there is an article in our Health Pages regarding this). It can make one feel dizzy and off balance and also causes cognitive problems. I was taking it with good pain results, but not enough to offset the way it made me feel, so I discontinued it. If it isn't helping your pain at all it may not be beneficial for you to continue taking it.
Avatar f tn historically, I have posted in the Pain Management Forum. Anyway, I was prescribed Lyrica and have been taking it for about 3 weeks. Before I started taking the medication, I researched all of the (horrible) side effects but have not really experienced any yet at 75 mg. twice a day. If anyone has taken Lyrica and experienced side effects, did they usually begin shortly after you started to take the medication or did they take awhile to kick in?
Avatar f tn Neuropathic pain can be treated with a couple of prescription drugs. Usually doctors will prescribe gabapentin/neurontin, which acts upon the nervous system. Lyrica has been shown to be effective too. These can make you feel a little loopy, but it's better than being in pain. I have spasticity and spasms. Since I'm pregnant, I can't take Baclofen, which is very effective.
Avatar n tn When I returned home after the surgery my MS doctor began reducing my lyrica dosage and that in combination of my treatments for cancer may be the cause of the TN pain again. I no longer feel I can deal with the TN and the cancer treatments so I want to know what would be the next step I should take?
Avatar f tn I currently take Lyrica. I take 150mg 4 x per day. Since upping my dosage to this amount I have seen a great deal of nerve pain relief. I also have not had a seizure since July of 07. I did have them on a regular basis until we upped my dosage from 75mg 4 x per day to the present amount. I have no side effects from it except for the craving of sweets.
Avatar f tn t seem to be helping at all anymore. I have asked about Physical Therapy and Lyrica and was told that they only use those for really bad patients. I have a 1 year old little boy that I stay at home with and most days its all I can do to take care of him and keep up with him. I don't sleep but can't stay awake...I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. Also, for a year I have been having trouble with joint pain and severe swelling of my joints. They will turn black and blue.
