Lyrica and stomach pain

Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica and stomach pain

lyrica

There are many posts about 'costochondritis', a not-uncommon condition that causes pain and inflammation at the junction of the ribs and sternum, particularly in women. I'm not sure if Lyrica would be my first choice. You are a bit young for 'neuropathy', and unless there is some known reason for pinched nerves, why would you have pinched nerves? I would rather lean toward a 'non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication, or 'NSAID', like aleve or ibuprofen.
I am wondering if anyone is using Lyrica for pain? and do you have any infomation to share?
then i would have to say give it a try, it is pricey, and sometimes insurance dosent always cover it, so if not covered by insurance, ask about neurontin, i take neurontin 600 mgs three times a day and it helps with my everyday pain quite well. lyrica and neurontin are in the same class of drugs and are not physically addictive.
The drug does help me in making the pain of shingles more tolerable and I do not receive any side effects of the drug. Before Lyrica was approved by the FDA my pain with shigles was very severe. I was taking Lortab in a high dosage to help manage the pain, which is an addictive drug. Although I still take Lortab but in a much lower dosage and Lyrica my shingles pain is reduced to a tolerable level. I hope that in time the nerves that were damaged by shingles will heal.
The only thing I can say is I took it for about 2 months and I don't have insurance ,it cost $100 dollars for a 20 day supply, It did relieve some pain I was having in my left side . i didn't find it to be addictive but do feel that any meds you see advertise on TV often are going to be outrageously expensive. I'm now on Nuerotin which makes me very sleepy therefore I only take it at night . I take 1/2 mg zanax in the morning and 1/2 at night which seems to help my chest pain.
OK - can anyone who has taken Lyrica and Cymbalta in conjunction with each other please give me your experiences --- and how long you've been taking them? I've been temporarily "diagnosed" with neuropathic pain issues (think Fibromyalgia). Waiting on some final test results to rule out any other Autoimmune Disease - but I believe I'll be finally diagnosed as Fibromyalgia. My Rheumatologist / Internist has prescribed Lyrica and Cymbalta together.
I take Lyrica, and I've gained weight, but I have so many other things that could be the cause, I can't really point to the Lyrica. It helps my nerve pain, and that is worth a lot. I like Alex's tips; I'll try them (for the most part, ha ha). I take my highest dose of Lyrica at bedtime, and when I have trouble sleeping, I have a horrible craving for carbohydrates, like wheat thins, rice cakes, etc. Now I wonder if it's related to the Lyrica... I'll still take the nerve pain relief.
Apart from general anxiety, I understand it helps with pain and induces sleep. I sleep quite well now, and in the morning and day time, I don't feel too tired. My doctor feels lyrica suits me and I may be on it for a while longer. Does it help with your pain?
Hi! Lyrica itself can cause neuropathic pain. This could be the reason for the eye pain and pain in other parts of body. The drug can also cause constipation, flatulence, gastric ulcer and gastritis and this can cause epigastric pain. Please discuss with your doctor and see if taking antacids and probiotics will help you or not. The drug can cause serious side effects in the eye and this can also cause pain. Maybe stopping the drug and starting another will help you.
I take Remeron for depression and Lyrica for the fibro pain. I could not sleep at night until I started the Lyrica and now I sleep right through. I wonder if it is the Cymbalta affecting your sleep.
Well Im not really sure what you want to know aobut lyrica, but I have fibromyalgia which causes excrutiating pain body wide, and cushings disease. I have tried lyrica for my pain and it did NOT help any. As for supposedly helping with the twitching, it made it much worse for me. I had to quit taking it because it basically did the opposite of what it was supposed to. You dont describe what kind of pain you have, if it is just in the joints.
I recently started Lyrica and I've gained a lot if weight, I have severe back pain, and also neuropathy and fibro which is so painful I sometimes just sit and cry.. The Lyrica seems to be taking a tiny bit of the burning away, on feet but I'm scared its just wishful thinking, as nothing else has worked.
Since getting home I started the Lyrica. I am very happy so far - it is lowering my pain and when I do have it, I really don`t care! Do miss my wine but it will help me lose weight. Mark committed to losing too so we are both working together to lose weight and get healthier. Loved spending time with him too and so sweet to come home to a lovely spring.
For me, both drugs have worked equally well, which is to say I've had some relief of pain but not a whole lot. I was on 450 mg of Lyrica, and then 1500 mg at night with Gabapentin. I could go higher but I really don't want to. Too many meds as it is.
I have been taking lyrica for about 3 yrs now and the only side effect I have noticed is that if I skip one night and don't take it I become very I'll. I have nausea, stomach pain, can't sleep, diarhea, and feel very hot. Has anyone else felt like this? This sounds like withdrawals to me. I don't like it but I'm afraid not to take it invade I feel worse.
Recently a friend suggested drinking aloe vera gel and taking propolis bee pills - I have such a bad reaction to these and was violently ill and had acute stomach pains for 3 days and was bed ridden with the pain. I will not take this again. Does anyone have any advice? I am not really happy with the lyrica as I think it is masking the pain and the side effects are unbearable. Is there any other treatments/medication that anyone can suggest please? Thank you.
The pain hits me sometimes like a tonn of bricks and I feel worse than ever. I do not know how well the Lyrica is really working, I am still in pain. But everything takes time. I am about to start Suboxone, which you might suggest to help with your withdrawls from the fentanyl, it is real helpful with witdrawls and also for pain. OH to REALLY ANSWER YOUR QUESTION: I was sleepy for about the first week and a half and it went away. Hope you feel better soon!
or could this just be a symptom of Fibro since it's really flared up due to the cold weather? I'm also on Vicodin for pain and I have high blood pressure, so I'm on meds for that as well. Thanks in advance!
Hi I was on Lyrica because again it was the "new thing" for Chronic Regional Pain/RSD, and "suspected seizures. I had so much trouble with Lyrica. i started on 75mg of Lyrica and was drunk, dizzy couldnt see straight {blurriness came at 300mg}. I felt sick agitated and hallucinated and vomited on it. Till my neurologist put me on to Neurontin. I was so scared about trying it. I have had that many adverse reactions to so many medications, I didnt want anymore.
still waiting for it to relieve pain left side of abdomen in coeliac area..it has reduced pain but then pain flares and I cannot tell if it is in stomach or beside stomach...... Anyway, that is why I have been not writing..or getting out or anything...have gone down on pain meds even more ..( my pain dr. is seeing me every 2 weeks and he hasn't done that in 13 yrs)! and decreasing opiates that takes time and another reason I have felt bad.....
I have 5 heart stents--i took 81 mg of aspirin today--it said NOt to take aspirin for 7 days following colonoscopu or anti-inflammtories-- iwaited 7 days--which is as long as possible with 5 heart stents--so i took the apsirin and right now I have significant stomach pain.
still no help.He then added 75 mg of lyrica twice a day. I began to be incdedibly sleepy and could fall asleep at any time(actually feel asleep while Dentist was working on a cavity)! Nothing really helped the back pain so I decided to wean off, dropped down to 2 -40 mgs a day for a few days then 1 40 for a few days and the same with the lyrica. I thought everything was fine until I realized I was depressed, crying for silly reasons mentally confused etc.
I have never in my life had a problem with weight, I eat well and am active but this weight gain in my stomach is just depressing. I have always been very petite but I've gained 20 lbs and it seems to be mostly in my stomach/love handle area. I am thinking about asking my doctor about switching my medication but I am a little scared to because Lyrica works better than anything else ever has.
Hello. I am new to this reaching out for support thing. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in January. I have been on tons of different meds and nothing seems to help. So now I am at my last resort so to speak. The only drug I haven't tried is "Lyrica". I took Cymbalta (30 mg) one time and I was so sick the next day the smell of food made me want to throw up.
So if after increases in a medication and your knees and ankles hurt, swell, headache, you start to inch and maybe if I do not move the pain will go away NOPE. Call the Doctor You cannot wish it away, It does not get better tomorrow.
I take Lyrica for my feet.My left foot was amputated, gutted and rebuildt with muscle from my stomach and skin from my thiegh.I have CRAZY nerve problems in my feet.I get (or was) spastic pulses that are shocking feeling. it felt like a symphony was performing inside my foot, a drum roll here, a crash of a cybal there, it was intolerable. It was like getting electrical shocks at different parts of your feet at spiratic voltages and places. The opiates didnt help with that kinda discomfort.
The pain has been very bad for almost a year as the vertebra crumbled and I have taken Lortabs and Percocets now and again but they do not sit well on my stomach and most times I would rather just lay here and moan, lol. My prescription for the Lyrica is to start with 50mg once a day for 2 weeks and then go to 2 a day. Tomorrow is the end of my first week.
Doctor prescribed me Lyrica 75mg twice daily for nerve pain and cyclobenzaprine 10mg three times daily as a muscle relaxer..Has anybody had this combination of drugs prescribed for them? Did you feel sleepy alot? Any dizziness?Any help would be appreciated..
I still haven't found the solution to non narcotic pain relief for Fibromyalga either. I did a really quick taper from Lyrica and Effexor in January, as per my doctor's instuctions. It was supposed to last 3 weeks I believe. I just remember how horrible I felt. The brain zaps, sweats, chills, upset stomach, you name it and it lasted forever. After 3 weeks I started Cymbalta and then just started getting worse.
I know this is hard to do but they are really good as I went to 10 doctors or more over 8 years to get diagnosed for stomach pain and throwing up and no one could diagnose me. I finally went to a psychiatrist to see if I was crazy and he said no I think you have a migraine variant (my problem only happened when I layed down to sleep and my nerves in my stomach apparently were the cultprit).
