lyrica and leg swelling

Has anyone had any serious sideeffects with Lyrica? I kept telling dr I had concrete calves as well as rest of pain. Dr said "your persception of your pain is not the reality of your pain" and sent me to shrink. Will keep seeing shrink cause I feel she can help me with pain coping skills and my depression, anxiety,panic attacks. But I did look up some of my meds on computer and 4 of them could cause severe leg muscle pain and swelling.

This was an excellent choice, as it helps with my anxiety, I use less clonazepam and I feel less drowsy. Lyrica did give me blurred vision and extra paranoia at the start, and that was indeed awful for the first couple weeks as I upped my dosage! After the initial troubles, I found that it really was better than gabapentin for me now. I have not gained weight, but remain the same weight I call my meds weight. I just try to remain active and not pig out.

I have been on neurontin for about 4 years now and when lyrica came out I talked to my son about it. he is a pharmacist and knowing how I do not like to jump onto a new drug he told me that the neurontin is so similar to lyrica that I should just stay on that drug. every time that I went on a new drug It ended up being pulled off the market. I would look into getting a script for that. good luck..

I have a lot of trouble with swelling in my feet, legs, and hands. My doctor thinks it's the lyrica, but it only happens once in a while, so I'm not so sure. I take lacix when this happens and it works real well for me. Luckily I have no side effects from it.

I started in my hands and feet. I have been taking it a month and the symptoms are daily but are mild and seem less and less. Today, it is only swelling on the top of my ear with slight itching. Should it continue taking it, because i heard that discontinuing could cause a seizure.

Is this type pain nornal after a stroke? What can I do about the pain and swelling. My leg feels cold and I can't stand for even my cat to rub on my leg. I also have RA is this making the stroke pain? I am so tired of this pain, I am losing it.

I am taking 300 mg of Lyrica a day. I am having heavy swelling in my hands, feet and ankles and doctor put me on Lasix. It is helping a bit but still uncomfortable and pain. I've put a lot of weight on and am also having bad memory problems (can't find my words) and blurry vision. Is there anything that can be done that doesn't require me to get off of Lyrica? it really helps my pain. If I have to get off of it what is the best way to do so?

ve had a horrible experience with Solumedrol as well.....Back in March I had extreme leg and groin numbness and went on IV Solumedrol for 3 days....I had a nasty reaction to it, but it DID take away the numbness and vision problems almost immediately....Well, within 48 hours anyway..... In May the left side of my head and face went numb and because I was visiting the MS Clinic at that time, I declined the Solumedrol treatment.....That numbness didn't go away for 20 days.....

As of today I the back of my leg, and my foot are still swollen and my foot burns like it is on fire. According to the medical literature everything should be back to normal. NOT! Has anyone gone through this and what medications were you given and how long did it take for you to be able to walk normally?

On feb. 17th my left foot started to swell and has been since. I've had a sonogram of the main artery in that leg and pelvic area looking for any kind of obstruction. I've had a regular foot x-ray and a weight bearing x-ray along with a MRI and a bone scan. Everything came back negative. Ive been to 3 regular doctors and 2 podiatrist along wih 1 sports medicine clinic trying to find an answer.

I was on Lyrica 75 mgs for Fibromyalgia and it worked great for the pain, but I had trouble with my hads and feet swelling, I also gain alot of weight...Ihad to stop becaouse of the swelling..i didnt have any trouble stopping...I was told by the pharmacy it was a controlled substance...

The only thing I take for the pain of it all is lyrica and sunday afternoon I went shopping for about 4 hours, in and out of the car not just walking around one place, so i got some breaks and i seriously wanted someone to shoot me!! I was in so much pain I thought I would totally lose it! SO I guess what I am trying to say is I hope it works for you, try to be positive and maybe it will!

I have had RSD for 9 years and they just put me on Lyrica to help with the pain. The lyrica has really helped with the pain but i have gain 40 pounds will taking it. Do you know of any othe drug that you can take to help with the weight gain.

my legs and feet hurt alot, in the joints, muscle,and before the lyrica shooting and stabbing pain down the legs and arms. my dr has not tested for ms yet but did do a alot of blood work , came back with vit d was low and high sugar 160 a1c but its been a year in june and i want to know whats going on with my body.

I have Fibromyalgia, facet osteoarthritis in my lumbar spine, DDD in my lower and upper back, sciatica, and nerve dysfunction diagnosed by EMG, which causes my left foot to be numb and the leg pain. Lyrica works better than Neurontin, but scaredmom330 is right about the weight gain. I had the same problem and had to quit taking both.

Making me remember that the pain came bad after i got a suspected infection i didnt know because one time first time in my lief got disoriented and seems dizzy and after a day i experience this heat in my leg skin and heaviness .

I have a protrueding disk on L4 and 5. left leg pain down the back of my leg my calf pain is very bad down to my numbing toes my DR.

I just started taking Lyrica for sciatic pain secondary to herniated discs. I've taken two 75-mg doses so far. On the second night, I was awakened by excruciating pain in my right leg, worse than what I was having pre-Lyrica. Has anyone experienced an increase in his/her nerve pain after starting Lyrica?

I have been on lyrica for a while now. My doctor has increased the doseage and I am gaining weight in my stomach like crazy. Not sure what is going on with that, I don't want to gain any more weight than I am already carrying, which is alot. Next week I will be starting a heart healthy diet, my mom lives with me and has been seeing a cardiologist, so I figure that may help. If the diet doesn't help I may have to stop taking the lyrica.

hi, I was given Lyrica a while ago. It was great for my leg pain and the sedation effecta were alright by me. However, I experienced tongue swellling, throat swelling and closing and breathing difficulties. I was devastated!!!Finally there was something that provided my legs with with comfort and I can't take it. I now take Gabapentin which helps but not as well as Lyrica. With our chronic pain I don't think any one med.

Physical therapy will usually help a lot for stuff like bulging disks. If the disk pushes on a nerve in the area of the spine, it's going to hurt. I might suggest you also really tighten up your stomach muscles, it helps support the lower back tremendously. And I knew a person who had sciatica, from nerve pain radiating from low back down his leg, and he did yoga for a year or so, and it went away...which is a lot like doing physical therapy, so PT does help.

my question is the dr. prescribed lyrica for me and yesterday when i took it, i was feeling pretty weird and didn't really have the feeling of needing to take my methadone (35mg.), but i took it. Today i thought i might try not to take it. has anyone ever heard of lyrica for methadone withdrawel. it is very expensive at 300.00 a month, but i pay 420.00 month for the clininc. if anyone has heard is lyrica addciting?

I do heat for my calves. I have a problem walking as I have severe swelling of feet and legs and do not bike due to OA of my knees. I am going to start water aerobics in my son's pool at least 3 to 4 days a week per physical therapist suggestion. I currently am on antidepressants and anti-anxiety pills also. Thank you for taking my problem seriously, it is nice to have someone believe me. I do strecthing exercises daily for over 4 years.

I gained alot of weight due to immobility before surgery and after so I stopped the lyrica because of the weight gain and I also had some swelling in my feet. I am miserable and want to go back on the Lyrica but the feet swellling- is that a big deal.? I had rather take it and have swelling feet than not!

I just was on another board and we were talking about body pain. A woman said she took Laculose and it stopped the swelling and her severe pain. I have no idea what it is, but was curious and asked. I will let you know, or you can google it. How are those toes?

You must consult your neurologist to change your medications since both of these can cause swelling and you have swelling in both the legs. If the swelling persists despite stopping the drugs, you must be investigated for deep vein thrombosis. Hope this helps. Take care.

after two days the swelling has gone to both legs and up the body (buttocks, groin) and now up to the hands....any idea of what could be a diagnosis...he is currently at ER, Good Samaritan Hospital, Los Gatos, CA, but after 3 hours, still no definite diagnosis. Blood has been drawn and sent to lab, but no results as yet....any ideas of what might be checked...we were wondering if Lyme disease (tick bite) or spider bite might do this type of symptom...

so for awhile when i missed the lyrica, i thought oh, i have vicodin...but as Vicodin off, more and more the lyrica helped.....but when I missed doses of everything..., It was by my wife keeping a diary, that I realized I was missing so many just a few days or even one...the Oh! went on... And now I have taken 3yrs without feeling the sick,sweaty feeling I felt when I missed dose.. I did not gain weight ..
