Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica and itching

lyrica

Avatar m tn I started in my hands and feet. I have been taking it a month and the symptoms are daily but are mild and seem less and less. Today, it is only swelling on the top of my ear with slight itching. Should it continue taking it, because i heard that discontinuing could cause a seizure.
Avatar m tn why am i itching so much and feel like needles sticking me, all over my body had a blister on my back last week. the burning go and come and being nervous all the time. doc have me on lyrica.
5693793 tn?1372522288 Yeah, I looked at that, unfortunately it was no help. And the itching started way before taking the lyrica.....I'm beginning not to even care anymore, maybe a handful of pills is the best option at this point.........Oh well, it was worth a try to ask again....
Avatar n tn Hi I had the burning and itching feet and i still do get it now and again but have found the lyrica has helped it, i am on 450mg a day now. I find the lyrica does make you sleepy and if so you should be carefull driving, i'm not sure why your pain specialist said it does not.
Avatar n tn m glad lyrica is working for you! So, is the skin change from current or past itching? Do you use ice packs when an itching attack comes on? It's supposed to help. As to creams, topical capsaicin? Topical corticosteroids? Lichenfication does happen and you first have to stop itching. I know that's hard with your situation. Make sure your nails are trimmed super short always and even consider bandaging the area so you don't get to it.
Avatar n tn Yes, I do. IF you may have a back problem, since you have back pain, and if that's what is causing the pain in pelvis and thigh, then everything in between can hurt, too. But since you have itching, that's why I said visit your gynecologist and have her fix the itching, and while you're with her, tell her how your lower back hurts and thigh, too, and try to provide her with the scan pictures of your abdomen ahead of time.
Avatar m tn Hello, I've been a type I diabetic for over 20 years and was diagnosed with neuropathy about 5 years ago. It was mostly in my legs and feet, eventually spreading to my hands. Lately however, I've been unable to afford my Lyrica and I'm waiting for the company to respond back to my application for assistance. I've been off the medication since last August/September.
Avatar n tn The best thing I have found to help me deal with the stinging and itching is keeping my arm clean and using Suave Oatmeal lotion, believe it or not. It does not completely take it away but eases my discomfort which keeps me from scratchng and gives it a chance to heal a good bit. Steroids did not help me but made my sores start to get infected. I have never tried Lyrica but I do take Neurontin (in the same family) for other nerve pain and perhaps it helps my neurodermatitis as well.
Avatar f tn Just wanted to voice support and commiseration. I occasionally get intense itching, and all I can think of is 'seriously, they could just interrogate spies with the threat of itching like this. They'd spill everything!' Oh my god, it's so bad. Alex and JJ have given you good food for thought. And you seem to have a plan in place with ringing your doctor about the Lyrica. I hope it stops for you soon!
623944 tn?1244035490 Lyrica - I have taken Lyrica and it helped my pain a lot. I know a lot of people who take Lyrica without any problems. I had to stop taking it because my suicidal ideation increased while on the medication. The other comment was about itching? For the last few days I have been itching like crazy! It feels like it is on the inside and all over my body - it drives me mad. I guessed it was the meds and cut back on them, plus took Benadryl. The itching is better, but the pain level is a lot worse.
Avatar f tn I tried Lyrica. It did not work for me and I could not tolerate the side effects. I do appreciate your kindness in trying to help me.
Avatar n tn I'm allergic to codeine. I'd been taking vicodin, then norco. now i'm having itching and anxiety when i take it. Any suggestions? I'm seeing my Dr. Monday..this is Friday. Thx!! I also take lyrica, trazodone (RLS), celexa, synthroid. I have degenerative disc & joint disease, injury to coxica & sciatic joints and severe fibromyalgia.
Avatar n tn Why am I having numbness and pain in my foot after total knee replacement? It really hurts.....one physician is giving me Lyrica. Any info on this will be appreciated.
316262 tn?1211657471 About 16 months ago, I started feeling prickly thighs, when I was sitting, prickly where my clothes touched. I went through physical therapy for what the doctor called DJD for thoracic pain....felt like an electric centipede running around my back, and my right upper shoulder/back would cramp from sitting using computer at work. Therapy worked great on my back. The prickly legs spread. I was aware of my legs at rest sort of a background vibration.
Avatar f tn I also took my potassium, lyrica, and cipro. I felt a lil better today but, now I feel like m sick and now have fever agan b/c . I now have 100 degrees fever afte taking 800motrin and tylenol. I am also itching all over for some reason.

Avatar f tn For 2 months, I have the "MS itch" on one part of my lower back. It is unbearable. Creams don't help. Ice pack provides relief for a few minutes. Sleep is fine. After up & moving for several minutes, the itching starts. Simply, my neurologist doesn't know what he's doing. He recommended Cymbalta & Lyrica!! Instead, I showed him a prominent MS website regarding itching, so he prescribed their suggestion, Neurontin.
Avatar n tn There is constant pain in the inside corner of my left eye (nerve ending) and eyebrow, also pain, itching and stinging in my before mentioned scalp area. I do not want to take and be hooked on drugs for the rest of my life. I have tried and used almost everything I would like to know if there is an alternative to drugs. I have had the usual eye problems caused from shingles, including cataract surgery. My vision is good with the exception of poor peripheral vision.
5466288 tn?1410485185 There are many medications that can help for nerve pain. It just depends on which works for you. There is Lyrica, Neurotin, Tegretol, and Trileptal to name a few. There are many conditions which cause PN some Neurological some not.
Avatar m tn This was an excellent choice, as it helps with my anxiety, I use less clonazepam and I feel less drowsy. Lyrica did give me blurred vision and extra paranoia at the start, and that was indeed awful for the first couple weeks as I upped my dosage! After the initial troubles, I found that it really was better than gabapentin for me now. I have not gained weight, but remain the same weight I call my meds weight. I just try to remain active and not pig out.
Avatar f tn I am already on the highest dose they prescribe. Has anyone ever tried Lyrica and Gabeapentin at the same time?
Avatar f tn I always sign off too soon. Some meds release histamine into the skin and can cause itching - though it is usually all over and not so localized. A really common one is codeine and it's cousins like hydrocodone (Vicodin).
Avatar n tn Topical doxepin and caspasin cream are also helpful for neuropathic itching. Anti-seizure medications found to be useful for neuropathic itching include neurontin and lyrica. It is very important that in neuropathic itching narcotics such as dilaudid, vicodin, percocet etc be avoided as these are well known to cause itching as a side effect and to worsen neuropathic itching. I recommend you continue to follow-up with your neurologist regarding the optimal treatment of your symptoms.
712802 tn?1274645485 Cymbalta has also had reports of causeing suicidal thoughts and on a molecular leval has a lot of simularities with lyrica so be catreful and stay in close contact with your doctor and us. I take lyrica 150Mg 3x per day and have never had that side effect but I keep a close watch. I also take an antidepresant called trazodone whitch is an older drug but one that is very easy to get along with. Best of luck and God bless.
Avatar m tn My Dr was going to prescribe me lyrica for shingles pain but I was hesitant and refused at the time. I did some research on it when I got home and actually found that lyrica is approved in eroupe for anxiety. I also read reviews of people taking it for other things and found that it helped with their anxiety. Glad to know it is working for you. What dosage are you on?Where your prescribed the lyrcia for anxiety or something else? Hope it continues to help you.
Avatar n tn Hello, From the symptoms it sounds like brachioradial pruritis. Brachioradial pruritis is an intense itching sensation of the arm and the itch can be so intense that sufferers will scratch their own skin to a bleeding condition.BRP may be attributed to a neuropathy, such as chronic cervical radiculopathy. No cure has been found. The only thing that seems to help most sufferers is the application of ice to the area until the itch is diminished.
394774 tn?1235070839 You can get addicted to lyrica, it is a controlled substance. but if they work for you and take away the pain and you know you are gonna have to take them the rest of your life, who care.
