Avatar n tn I personally often stop the xalatan for a few months after surgery and use another glaucoma drop instead but many doctors don't do that. Basically, if your surgeon is experienced and excellent, the chances of success are very, very high.
Avatar f tn My next appt to follow up on my suspicious glaucoma status is 7/16. My husband and I are trying to conceive right now. I wonder if it is safe to use glaucoma eye drops when conceiving or pregnant? I"m pretty sure he's gonna put me on glaucoma eye drops.
Avatar m tn There is a form of glaucoma (normal tension glaucoma) that sometimes fools doctors into thinking the glaucoma is under control or not present as the eye pressure seems OK but the vision might still deteriorate. If ever in doubt, you could always get a second opinion with another glaucoma specialist to make sure everything is being done correctly.
Avatar f tn Remember thee were studies that showed that smoking was good for you, that opioids were not addicting, and that coffee caused ulcers.
1580703 tn?1651904887 dear Doctor, my vision is blurry when I read small text and the opthamologist says I probably have early glaucoma- I did the spark field of vision test and couldn't see the peripheral sparks. I argued him into giving me steroidal eye drops. is my vision going to deteriorate and I should only read larger text? I've been on clomid and spiriva which are known to cause glaucoma and increased eye pressure.
Avatar n tn I was developing glaucoma (early stages) from steroids. I stopped the steroids and the condition resolved itself. Stop the steroids if you can. I was using Advair for COPD. There were many bad side effects. But I found that I actually got better results using natural remedies. No side effects. If COPD is your problem look to natural alternatives.
Avatar m tn See an Eye MD ophthalmologist every year and going blind from glaucoma is very unlikely. Most glaucoma patients go blind because they don't use their medicine, stop going to the doctor or don't have the disease diagnosed until end stage.
Avatar n tn It seems that glaucoma is listed as a possible side effect for just about every prescription medication these days. I am taking Remeron (mirtazapine, for anxiety and insomnia) and, of course, glaucoma is listed. How big a threat is this? Do I stop taking the pills? I don't have glaucoma and last check-up had healthy optic nerves, although moderate cupping. it's not listed as a common side effect, but it is mentioned.
Avatar f tn In this case you probably do NOT have a condition called angle closure glaucoma. This is the type of glaucoma that can be affected by cold medications. If you have open angle glaucoma or any other type of glaucoma, cold medications are fine.
Avatar m tn l visited my eye doctor today and asked him if l should go back on the eye drops because my pressure is backup , he took scans and said all the scans and tests were good and the nerve damage and glaucoma has not gotten worse since l stopped the eye drops so there no need to go back on them.

Avatar f tn Only people with a rare UNTREATED type of glaucoma called angle closure glaucoma should avoid those medications and only until the Eye MD treats it with laser iridectomy.
Avatar f tn You would need to sit down with glaucoma specialist/OB-GYN to discuss each of the 4 groups of eye drops and also SLT laser and understand the possible risks to you and fetus vs the risk of permanent damage if you don't use meds. There is no risk free course. Needling is what I was referring to.
Avatar f tn I also went to my eye doc for a gulag check up and he said I have glaucoma and optic nerve damage. I am 53 and glaucoma does NOT run in my family,(I am the first in my family). He said I need to see a specialist this week. I m also seeing a specialist for my ear this week. My ear doc said he is "very suspicious ". Avatar m tn d with glaucoma and have had interocular high pressures for 20 yrs. The eye with the lens replacement is the one that took a big drop on the OCT and I was concerned that the test was not done well as they had difficulty scanning that eye. I have adjusted to my crisp vision in the IOL eye but was researching IOLs and see several references to Glistening the type of material that the sn60wf is made of.
Avatar m tn close together, and thought you were giving us your pressure. I know that there is sometimes pain with glaucoma, but the doctor says that with primary open glaucoma, there is no signs to look. You could browse the discussions here, do a google on glaucoma, check what wikipedia has to say.

Avatar m tn Two surgeries for correcting vision plus a trabeculotomy (glaucoma surgery). 3 surgeries in total. Glaucoma surgery because first surgery raise eye pressure to 50. Right eye marinated with zymar, forte, acular and lotemax, many-many follow-up appointments.
Avatar m tn This is your 4th posting. This one has some interesting information. I mentioned that there is a rare type of glaucoma called angle closure glaucoma that type of glaucoma is divided up into 1. acute glaucoma which I have described and you don't have as it has severe pain and terrible vision 2. chronic angle closure glaucoma which may not cause symptoms but elevates the pressure and you said yours was normal then 3.
Avatar m tn This was an excellent choice, as it helps with my anxiety, I use less clonazepam and I feel less drowsy. Lyrica did give me blurred vision and extra paranoia at the start, and that was indeed awful for the first couple weeks as I upped my dosage! After the initial troubles, I found that it really was better than gabapentin for me now. I have not gained weight, but remain the same weight I call my meds weight. I just try to remain active and not pig out.
Avatar m tn Glaucoma is not one disease there are more than a dozen types of glaucoma. In infantile or juvenile glaucoma present at birth or early in life, elevated IOP can lead to longer axial length due to the soft, stretchable sclera "Ox Eye". However in adult glaucoma IOP does not lead to longer axial. The factors associated with high myopia include premature birth or low birth weight, heredity, racial characteristics, prolonged near work, not going outdoors often as youth.

Avatar f tn I have narrow angle glaucoma and have had the iridotomy (sp?) in both eyes although the procedure didn't open the angles as much as my doctor would have liked. I have not had the shunt installation. I am taking no medications for the glaucoma and so far as I know have not had an attack. I am checked every six months. Last night during the night I was awakened with pain in my left eye and a great amount of tearing.
Avatar f tn I had macular pucker surgery 8 weeks ago and doing well. I'm also a glaucoma suspect and my yearly appt with a specialist is scheduled for next week. I'm concerned that all the testing, especially the bright lights may be too much for my still-healing retina? I'm wondering if I should wait a couple months.
Avatar m tn Back in July of 2012 I was prescribed Tobradex for an eye injury. I have had several eye injuries since then, in total I've been prescribed Tobradex 6 times. Use was for 3-4 days each time and dose lowered over the course of 2-3 days before discontinuing use. In two cases I was also prescribed Pred-Forte which was used for 3 days and slowly lowered before miscounting use. Each time was 6-8 months apart.
Avatar m tn 2) Could it be that the IOP spikes/ roller coaster is because of the trauma and not because the angle recession has started the glaucoma now? (meaning, that maybe the eye is becoming "stable" and so is the IOP?) 3) I yes, than what might be the prognosis for a future glaucoma (I'm 45 years old)? Thank you....
