Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica and euphoria

lyrica

Avatar n tn Over time, losing weight through going like a bee all day long. Feeling of elation I guess I would call it. Can Lyrica cause enlarged spleen and does enlarged spleen bulge when eating. I was put on Lyrica for Neuropathies, coincidentally, when all my gastric issues began. Bowel change, Mucous, fast heart rate when eating causing me to fall asleep suddenly, and lately a bulge in my left side, WAY worse when eating. See my post under Digestive Disorders and Gastroenterology.
210982 tn?1280983895 Hello! My Dr prescribed me Lyrica and I have been readin about this drug, but I can't seem to find anything telling me what is in it. Does anyone know the ingredients? I was told it was a non-narcotic drug but then the leaflet says that it can be addictive and do not stop immediately..blah,blah, blah...does anyone know what is in this stuff?
470168 tn?1237471245 When I first started Lyrica I immediately experienced euphoria. It was great, I felt wonderful, almost like being high! I again experience it whenever the dosage is increased. This euphoric feeling went away in a short period of time which was disappointing. However, I have found that it still continues to help in a more normal way. My energy level is better than before, I have less pain and my mood is also better.
237152 tn?1206651036 My pain doc says neurontin is a much safer drug than lyrica and wants me to stick to the neurontin.....lyrica does have a euphoria associted with it with use for some....especially at first....
478403 tn?1266546009 Hi, I take 75mg when needed for RLS and neuropothy, and it lays me out! I mean, a full on sleep. I was prescribed 75mg twice a day, but just couldnt take it and even come close to functioning. I keep it around now to help with W/D's and use it when i get spastic pain in my feet. It works great for that. Im sorry, but I dont get w/d from Lyrica and cant really help you with kinda dose. Im a big guy too, 6'2" and 220 pounds and that stuff layes me out!
Avatar m tn I'm about to try to stop taking Lyrica. I've been taking a VERY high dosage the past couple of weeks or so (1600mg a day at the minimum) and just a little lower dosage before that. I know that there will be withdrawal symptoms and was wondering if there was anything that my doctor could give me that will help me through it. I've an addictive personality. Been addicted to everything I've taken that gives me any small measure of euphoria or lesser anxiety...
Avatar n tn I have taken Lyrica and stopped it and started it back and I am now stopping it again. It helps with my pain, but I get suicidal ideation when I take it. It is a good pain med and I know a lot of people who take it problem free. Some folks may not have wds from Lyrica, but I definately do. My wd from Lyrica was/is as bad as any wd I've experienced except for Methadone.
Avatar n tn I am diabetic and have been prescribed Lyrica for nerve pain. I am hearing contradictory opinions about the safety of Lyrica in a recovering addict. I would rather live with the pain than relapse. Has anyone had any experience with this?
Avatar n tn I took lyrica for fibromylgia, I had side effects of excessive weight gain and my hands and feet swelled badly. the nurse is wrong they are very addictive. you go through w/d when you stop them. or at least I did.
Avatar f tn I am taking Lyrica and wondering about the side effects and if I should be going back to the doctor or just need to tough it out on longer to gain the benefits. I'm on 75mg at night. I am supposed to get to 75mg in the morning also, however I took 25mg in the morning and slept until 4pm in the afternoon! So I am not taking the morning dose. The side effects the last 2 days have almost become intolerable.
Avatar f tn Well she weighed 125lbs when she started and 15 months later she weighs 197lb and likes the Lyrica for her pain but is now having severe joint pain , etc from the weight gain. I already have a metabolic disorder and cannot gain weight. Its very, very hard for me to lose weight. Anyway, I know it can cause vision problems, can make you high at times, bad headaches, etc.
472139 tn?1211332563 Nodding is not a form of euphoria for me...i can do that all by myself!

Avatar f tn It is a good fit. I ended up in a psych ward for 3 days because I ate a bottle of Prozac and everything else made me feel dead inside. I remember wanting to cry and my eyes actually hurting from trying and I couldn't. It sucked and I hate that people have to go through these feelings By the way, we are neighbors. I'm in Surfside!
Avatar m tn I went to my Dr. and he told me to taper off 2-7.5 hydro's & replace them with 2 -- Lyrica 75mg. I'm still on 3--.5mg xanax as well as prozac /heart pills and prevacid .I never use more than prescribed .Should I just deal with life without meds .I'm having trouble going to NA & AA because I still feel like I'm useing. I have been clean of my addiction drug for 6 months . Am I fooling myself thinking I won't abuse these new " "Prescribed "meds.
Avatar f tn I have taken Lyrica this year and just weaned myself off of it. I had too many of the listed side effects from it. I was going to do a study but afterwards was told that I was ineligible because I was already taking the med.
1196338 tn?1265163728 I guess in frank language I would say be adult about it and concentrate on minimising side effects (of which euphoria is one) and on getting good pain relief to the extent possible. From what the others have said it sounds like transdermal fentanyl is good in this regard.
Avatar f tn i feel amazing i am not like crazy happy but i am content and i am kind of anxious about how bad i will feel once the euphoria is gone
Avatar f tn 5 per day and eventually got to an average of 6 to 8 per day. I started on Lyrica about 1 month ago and I think I really like it (although I can't be completely sure since I take so many pills). I am really tired of being hooked on the pills and taking more than I am supposed to and then worrying about getting more. I plan on quitting cold turkey next Thursday. This forum has helped me so much to prepare myself for what's to come.
Avatar m tn This was an excellent choice, as it helps with my anxiety, I use less clonazepam and I feel less drowsy. Lyrica did give me blurred vision and extra paranoia at the start, and that was indeed awful for the first couple weeks as I upped my dosage! After the initial troubles, I found that it really was better than gabapentin for me now. I have not gained weight, but remain the same weight I call my meds weight. I just try to remain active and not pig out.
15227985 tn?1439629482 Because I am a chronic pain patient and also a recovering addict...I would like to clarify a few of the differences between Lyrica/pregabalin and Neurontin/gabapentin. They are "similar".....but also have some major differences. They are both medications that need to be titrated UP when you first go on them.... meaning to gradually increase your dose. Likewise, when you go off of either of them, you must wean yourself DOWN.
712802 tn?1274645485 Cymbalta has also had reports of causeing suicidal thoughts and on a molecular leval has a lot of simularities with lyrica so be catreful and stay in close contact with your doctor and us. I take lyrica 150Mg 3x per day and have never had that side effect but I keep a close watch. I also take an antidepresant called trazodone whitch is an older drug but one that is very easy to get along with. Best of luck and God bless.
1264955 tn?1381782221 I wake up with total body pain, I mean everything hurts and this lasts for several days and then seems to go away. This started yesterday and I feel like I cannot go on like this. Nothing helps....nothing as far as ibuprofen 800 mg, several aspirin, Tylenol, etc. I was diagnosed with FM many years ago when I had unexplained pain in my pelvic area, but that was remedied with a hysterectomy, so I have always wondered if I truly have FM; I feel like it is such a coverall diagnosis.
Avatar m tn My Dr was going to prescribe me lyrica for shingles pain but I was hesitant and refused at the time. I did some research on it when I got home and actually found that lyrica is approved in eroupe for anxiety. I also read reviews of people taking it for other things and found that it helped with their anxiety. Glad to know it is working for you. What dosage are you on?Where your prescribed the lyrcia for anxiety or something else? Hope it continues to help you.
664341 tn?1282115950 (this is soooo frustrating!!!) Anyway, he prescribed Lyrica for me to take every day. Yesterday was my first day on this new drug, and as far as the neuopathic pain, it really seemed to help. (not so much with the muscle and joint pain, but with the tingling, burning, shooting pains and numbness, it did.) However.......I have experienced urinary incontinence for some time now. It started as stress incont. but then it was stress and urge incont.
394774 tn?1235070839 You can get addicted to lyrica, it is a controlled substance. but if they work for you and take away the pain and you know you are gonna have to take them the rest of your life, who care.
612205 tn?1225594910 but taken short term for wds at the prescribed dose...it should be fine..some get euphoria from lyrica..i never did just a sluggish feeling so i told my doctor i did not want it anymore...i quit hydros with a friend and now lyrica is her drug of choice/she abuses it tho...she loves it...i hated it..
Avatar n tn I am in the same position with my husband. He is taking Lyrica and we would like to try having our first child. I know this was two years ago, but did your husband end up going off the Lyrica before you conceived?
