Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica and constipation

lyrica

Avatar m tn ve been diagnosed with RSD and have been on Demerol, hydrocodone, oxycodone and Lyrica. After seeing what works and what doesn't, I am currently only taking the oxycodone(2-7.5 every 4-6 hrs) and Lyrica(3-75 mg a day). The side effects I'm experiencing are constipation and my libido is mia. I can deal with the constipation, but at 45 and married, the libido change has GOT to be corrected.

And now I have taken 3yrs without feeling the sick, sweaty feeling I felt when I missed dose.. I did not gain weight ..
Avatar f tn My Dr told me to take the percocet for breakthrough pain and I am still taking Lyrica 150mg three times a day. I dont think the Lyrica is helping at all, unfortunetly the only thing that seems to help in anyway are the pain killers. But I have to say this is the best I have felt in a long time. I am so glad I decided to see this Dr and that he tried to work with me/didn't give up on me! It is so nice to walk around without that shocking pain in my chest everytime I breath.
Avatar m tn I no longer have tachycardia attacks but continued to develop main all over, basically starting from the chest down to the back and head. Now, I have muscle fatigue and discomfort everywhere. My head hurts all the time and eating, anything, makes it worse. These symptoms have been going on for over 2 years and taking Lyrica, Cymbalta, and Topamax have not worked. I do not respond well to medications at all. Now, the muscle fatigue in my thighs have gotten worse.
1088430 tn?1259159773 Hi! I'm hoping that anyone here who is taking Lyrica for nerve pain will be able to answer something for me...I'm newly on Lyrica (300mg daily) for chronic migraines/headaches and alot of burning that I've been having in my head. Neurologist gave Lyrica instead of Topamax b/c he said there's more than just the migraine issue going on b/c of all the burning. However, it's still officially undiagnosed at the present. I'm having very positive results so far.

Avatar n tn Over time, losing weight through going like a bee all day long. Feeling of elation I guess I would call it. Can Lyrica cause enlarged spleen and does enlarged spleen bulge when eating. I was put on Lyrica for Neuropathies, coincidentally, when all my gastric issues began. Bowel change, Mucous, fast heart rate when eating causing me to fall asleep suddenly, and lately a bulge in my left side, WAY worse when eating. See my post under Digestive Disorders and Gastroenterology.
Avatar n tn Normally Oxycontin is prescribed to be taken every 12 hours. Are you taking it every 12 hours or just once a day? If you're only taking it once a day that's why you are going through withdrawal all the time, since 12 hours from the last dose is usually when withdrawal symptoms start to appear. If you are supposed to take 2 a day, I would try taking 1 in the morning, say, 7:00 am and then the second one at 7:00 pm.
Avatar m tn but it specifically states DO NOT USE for more than 7 days or if you have persisent constipation or abdominal pain and naseua ..so I am not sure that is safe to use.
Avatar f tn I noticed problems with this drug that I did not have with any other medication. I stopped the Lyrica and went back to my doctor and reported these symptoms. Of course, she was dismayed and did not know what to offer except morphine. At any rate, I went to a new pain management doctor. My results are posted on the pain management couch website. For me, that is what worked.
Avatar m tn I have had to back surgeries with fusions. One cervical and one for spinal stenosis. I take Lyrica and Tramadol for pain. Lately I have been having difficulty with slow urination and constipation. Does this have anything to do with the former problems or is this something new to be addressed? Should I seek neuological help or a urologist? Thank you for your help.
Avatar f tn I had been on it for 5 years and had increased to maximum dose without relief. They withdrew the Lyrica and gave me 60mg Amiltriptaline and I am now pretty much nerve pain free in my stump. Morphine I was taking because the pain was so bad but once the Amiltriptaline started there was not a need for it. Thank you so much for answering my post.
Avatar m tn This was an excellent choice, as it helps with my anxiety, I use less clonazepam and I feel less drowsy. Lyrica did give me blurred vision and extra paranoia at the start, and that was indeed awful for the first couple weeks as I upped my dosage! After the initial troubles, I found that it really was better than gabapentin for me now. I have not gained weight, but remain the same weight I call my meds weight. I just try to remain active and not pig out.
712802 tn?1274645485 Cymbalta has also had reports of causeing suicidal thoughts and on a molecular leval has a lot of simularities with lyrica so be catreful and stay in close contact with your doctor and us. I take lyrica 150Mg 3x per day and have never had that side effect but I keep a close watch. I also take an antidepresant called trazodone whitch is an older drug but one that is very easy to get along with. Best of luck and God bless.
Avatar m tn My Dr was going to prescribe me lyrica for shingles pain but I was hesitant and refused at the time. I did some research on it when I got home and actually found that lyrica is approved in eroupe for anxiety. I also read reviews of people taking it for other things and found that it helped with their anxiety. Glad to know it is working for you. What dosage are you on?Where your prescribed the lyrcia for anxiety or something else? Hope it continues to help you.
394774 tn?1235070839 You can get addicted to lyrica, it is a controlled substance. but if they work for you and take away the pain and you know you are gonna have to take them the rest of your life, who care.
Avatar f tn I have taken Lyrica this year and just weaned myself off of it. I had too many of the listed side effects from it. I was going to do a study but afterwards was told that I was ineligible because I was already taking the med.
Avatar n tn I am in the same position with my husband. He is taking Lyrica and we would like to try having our first child. I know this was two years ago, but did your husband end up going off the Lyrica before you conceived?
Avatar f tn Ive been on lyrica and nuvigil fro fibro pain and fatigue, and just found out I'm pregnant. I'm just wondering if anyone else has taken either one of those while pregnant. I've stopped them for i was on only 50 mg of lyrica and about 100 of nuvigil. but I'm still worried, and i feel like I've been hit by a train once again, the pain is almost unbearable, i know my doc personally, have an appt. with him for the 12th.
483733 tn?1326798446 I am taking 300 mg of Lyrica a day. I am having heavy swelling in my hands, feet and ankles and doctor put me on Lasix. It is helping a bit but still uncomfortable and pain. I've put a lot of weight on and am also having bad memory problems (can't find my words) and blurry vision. Is there anything that can be done that doesn't require me to get off of Lyrica? it really helps my pain. If I have to get off of it what is the best way to do so?

1396846 tn?1332459510 I have been on lyrica for a while now. My doctor has increased the doseage and I am gaining weight in my stomach like crazy. Not sure what is going on with that, I don't want to gain any more weight than I am already carrying, which is alot. Next week I will be starting a heart healthy diet, my mom lives with me and has been seeing a cardiologist, so I figure that may help. If the diet doesn't help I may have to stop taking the lyrica.
478403 tn?1266546009 Hi, I take 75mg when needed for RLS and neuropothy, and it lays me out! I mean, a full on sleep.
