1100837 tn?1267668675 Hi Leila, I'm sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I am on Plaquinel for lupus. But I know it is also used for RA. Initially the only side affect was some diarrhea. It took about a month before I saw imporvment. Each week I felt beter than the week before. I think it took about 4 months to see the full positive affect. There is a very slight risk of retina detachment. And yes, that thought was scarry.
Avatar m tn Hello Papagarv1, Welcome. Sorry I am late in responding to your question. You've asked for no judgement - you won't get that from me. Very sadly ppl in chronic pain have been driven to all kinds sources to treat it. I don't condone buying opiates off the street, especially such a complex med like Methadone. Her risks are very very high! Please do your research. My concern is for her physical safety. Now I'll shut up and answer your question.
Avatar f tn I work for an Ortho Surgeon who specializes in knee and hip replacements and also sees a lot of patients with severe arthritis, he does use Mobic alot but also uses the Arthrotec. Find a good dr. and get some definitive answers then proceed from there as far as what medications will help you. Keep us posted and welcome to the forum.
Avatar m tn I am on day 18. I am doing well, but in pain from arthritis, nerve damage, and colitis. I remember my pain doctor wanted me to try Lyrica. I made an excuse that it was too expensive. He had me try an older generic, and of course I said it didn’t work. Now, I am thing about trying Lyrica to control my pain. However, reading the side affects it seems a bit scary and I want to be 100% mentally. Is Lyrica a viable, or even a good non-narcotic option to control pain? Does it even work?
Avatar f tn While I was undiagnosed, I was on Neurontin for a couple of months and then tried Lyrica. I do think Lyrica relieved more pain, but it did cause me more side effects and in the end, I was not happy with the balance of relief vs. complications. Lyrica made me feel more dizzy and confused. For example, I would take my dose, and within minutes I wouldn't remember if I had taken it yet or not. That made me uncomfortable.
Avatar m tn I am living on Vicadin, and flexeril. Stomach was ruined years ago by arthritis drugs and now have stomach ulcers. So I am fighting pain daily, from the time I get out of bed. I have been told it is psoriatic arthritis, and I have been told it is FIbromyalgia, depending on which quack you talk to. Any comments on care for pain would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn MRI'S DIDN'T SHOW ANY ANSWERS WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THE LOSS OF CONTROL AND STENGHT IN MY RIGHT ARM AND HAND?
Avatar f tn I have used Lyrica and neurontin in the past for the withdraw symptoms and it worked really well but everyone is different and like atthebeach stated you can experience withdraw symptoms from it,

Avatar n tn i have fibromialgia and arthritis and bone spurs in my neck and shingles should i be taking all this and will the tierdness ever go away?
97654 tn?1214348650 Hi Kim First I would like to say that I am so sorry that you're going through this in the first place..... I also wanted to chime in here because I've had a horrible experience with Solumedrol as well.....Back in March I had extreme leg and groin numbness and went on IV Solumedrol for 3 days....I had a nasty reaction to it, but it DID take away the numbness and vision problems almost immediately....Well, within 48 hours anyway.....
1649807 tn?1301506020 Most likely it is the Lyrica. I had problems while on Lyrica with dizziness and sounds in my ears. Also, I coundn't sleep. I am back in pain and rather be than all the other side effects.
Avatar f tn Neurontin caused weight gain and I became allergic to lyrica as well as gaining weight. In the past two years after stopping lyrica due to laryngeal edema, I lost 20 lbs. I also started a gluten free diet and dropped another 30lbs. I do much better without that extra 50 lbs. I'd rather deal with the pain than deal with excessive weight. I'd like them to concentrate on the cause of the neuropathy, nothing they have made any attempt at.
217229 tn?1192762404 It only makes you tired? Does it stop any of the pains associated with Fibro? Or any muscle aches/pains? Any other side effects?
371980 tn?1276740809 I have very advanced arthritis and I am taking Nortriptyline in small (50mg) doses and Relefan. Robaxan (Muscle relaxant) also. These 3 together provide pretty good pain relief. Not 100% totally pain free, but managable. Please ask your Doctor about them. These 3 in tandem are a wonderful alternative to opiates.
Avatar f tn I have 2 herniated discs, arthritis in my lower spine and fibromyalgia. I hate how the morphine makes me feel and the fact that addicted to them. I tried to go cold turkey but I work full time and don't have the time off required to do that. I told my dr that I wanted off them and just stay in lyrica for the fibro. She said taper method was the best way so she prescribed me 15mg 3 times per day for 2 weeks then twice per day for 2 weeks.
Avatar f tn I have eye surface inflammation caused by my psoriatic arthritis and for years have had it relieved by Lotemax, prescribed by my optician. It looks like a long, hard road ahead with this SFN, especially since I have been through so much with 3 types of arthritis, burning mouth syndrome, etc. etc. Hope this goes through to you and that you have had some relieve the last couple of years.
1686743 tn?1306005451 and my BUN 22 to 46 All that being said ,,,, My PM decided I should try Pregabalin otherwise know as Lyrica. and I did.. This drug is used to treat fibromyalgia ... and nerve damage but it is only a side effect to what the drug was meant for. Here's what happened. Both feet and left hand swelled as if I had cardiac arrest. From side to side across the lower back hurt like something I haven't felt for a long time. My fear was my kidney's.
Avatar f tn One said, my tingling is not related to the protrusion, and prescribe me cortisone, B complex, Lyrica and amitriptiline. I havent taken them. The other neurologist said, my tingling is related to my protrusion. He suggested me to reduce 10 pounds (recover my average, exercise to strengh my back and abdominals, and B complex.). Now, I have like 5 weeks with the tingling. Still have some tender points in my back and buttocks. I will appreciate your opinion. Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn I was looking for an alternative and discovered Lyrica, but then I saw the warning about addictive behavior. I don't want anything that will cause that feeling to return ever again. Are there any fellow addicts out there who have had experience with Lyrica?
Avatar f tn t prescribe anything else. I have tried Lyrica and a bunch of arthritis meds. Again I am undiagnosed so they are also trying to figure out what I have. This pain is new but has lasted for over 5 days now and I do not know what to do as I cannot even do my daily tasks or take care of my daughter. I was also wondering if you knew anything to help with the fatigue. Please let me know.
1548147 tn?1293815905 I have been on percocets daily ever since and about a month ago was put on lyrica. I noticed severe pain and stiffness in my hands beginning once while in the hospital, then maybe once a week or so. But about 2 weeks ago, it started happening everyday, especially worse in the morning when I wake and in the evenings when I finally sit back to relax and get still. I am not sure if the pain is from one of the medications or from the surgery itself.
Avatar m tn Finally, just saw my 1st Rheum this past Dec 09. RX Lyrica instantly. And Lyrica has not exactly been my saving grace. Still have days with bad pain. RX Soma too. I'd been taking @ night before/after bed. Called Rheum. about Lyrica and not helping so much with the pain, told me I can/should take my Soma during the day but it has a "sleepy" affect to it. *sighs* Last thing I want to do is drive a car or be sleepy during the day cause of Soma.
Avatar m tn Hello zoe00, It's always nice to be seen by someone who knows what it's like to be in pain. My Rheumatologist has Rheumatoid Arthritis as well, so she knows what it's like to be in pain, so she treats me better than any other doctor I've seen. I have FM and OA. Unfortunately, because I don't have it as bad as her (meaning the RA), I sometimes think she minimizes my pain just a little.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 48 yr.old female living with SLE. fibromyalgia. celiatic sprue, and arthritis. All of course resulting in depression and sleep disturbances. In addition to the sunburn rash I have on a daily basis to my chest, I have just recently been diagnosed with a skin disease known as granuloma annulare, cause unknown, but possibly related to a diabetic rash. I also have had a reoccurring out break of extreme itches from head to toe.
