Avatar n tn Lamictal makes you blackout when you drink with it. So essenially it heightens the alcohol effects. Even if you think you can handel your beer or hard Alcohol. be careful. Especially on such a high dose. Also i depends what your seizures are like. When I was drinking i mostly had them the day after heavy drinking, they were absence seizures and never had them while drinking or never had a grandmal and i've had it my whole life. But that's just me. Hope that helps!
Avatar f tn I got online to read the side effects of lyrica and it said you can not suddenly stop taking it or you will experience w/d!!! That sounds addicting to me?? Any info y'all might have sure would be helpful!
216046 tn?1193943404 You can take Lyrica with Methadone and be fine BUT you should not take the Lyrica within 4 hrs after the Methadone because of resp distress.
Avatar f tn Alcohol definately effects your meds differently. With me, I get drunk easier and faster. It isnt good to drink while you are on meds anyways. It makes your medication less effective and it will effect your moods the next day.
Avatar f tn I was given lyrica for my fibromyalgia. I took it for 6 months. I also had a negative reaction to it. I gained 20 pounds. I was severely depressed. my hands and feet were very swollen. I weaned off of it. I lost most of the weight my mood has definitely improved. it didn't help my fibro much anyway.
478403 tn?1266546009 30 PM it starts to take effect a hour to two after I take it. I sometimes go into a fog where it feels like I'm in a bubble listening to someone talk and I can't really comprehend what they are talking about. My tongue does not work right and I studder sometimes which I never did before. I can't come up with simple words to put in a sentence to finish it. My fingers, hands and feet feel like there is glass in them and I have a feeling of shaking but it's only inside.
Avatar m tn I have tried Cipralex, Efexor, Fluanxol, Xanor (Xanax), Rivotril, Seroquel, Ritalin, Wellbutrin, Esperide. All had horrible side effects and and had to stop and try something else. I am currently taking Valdoxane and Molipaxin, but feel completely detached and unemotional, which is a problem as I have been married 9 months and my wife is 7 months pregnant. My doctor hads taken my off Molipaxin and prescribed me Lyrica to take in conjunction with Voldoxane.
217229 tn?1192762404 I take Lyrica and Cymbalta and they help with the neuropathic pain associated with the Fibro and Diabectic nerve pain. The Cymbalta helps with a little pain. Side effects for me? I'm dizzy and sleepy in the daytime, but I take other things like Vicodin 750, Klonopin, Flexeril and Ambien, and Paxil. I gained weight with the Diabetes, so I can't tell. But I loved carbs before all of this.
Avatar f tn I know all these drugs are pretty much the same and their for people with seizures and doctors now give it to people with chronic pain like me! Well I have tried all but not for more than a month. With Elavil I didn't like the way it made me feel. Neurontin and Trileptal I didn't take it long b/c I noticed nothing. I just started taking Lyrica 75mg 3x a day started about almost 2 weeks ago.
333535 tn?1227018609 Some here on this forum have posted some luck with Lyrica. Myself, not so much. I've tried it two different times. The first time I tried to find something else to blame the side effects on and gave it another go. Didn't have any better luck the second time. Lyrica worked as far as helping my pain. I could tell that but it wasn't worth it for the side effects I felt. Everyone is different. Maybe you will do well.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have had 3 failed back surgeries and now have an SCS unit installed. I still take Lyrica and pain meds. Lyrica is suspost to make the nerve endings (dead) or just not as touchy. I have been on both Lyrica and Neurontin and the Lyrica does help me some. Not as much as my Dr wanted but it gives me about another 5-10% pain reduction. It does not help everyone even if they have the same problems.
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken lyrica for fibromylasia and found increased pain instead of decrease?
Avatar m tn This was an excellent choice, as it helps with my anxiety, I use less clonazepam and I feel less drowsy. Lyrica did give me blurred vision and extra paranoia at the start, and that was indeed awful for the first couple weeks as I upped my dosage! After the initial troubles, I found that it really was better than gabapentin for me now. I have not gained weight, but remain the same weight I call my meds weight. I just try to remain active and not pig out.
394774 tn?1235070839 t know why but have take cymbalta, didnt help me, lyrica did but suffered from the side effects of swollen hands and feet and excessive weight gain. You can get addicted to lyrica, it is a controlled substance. but if they work for you and take away the pain and you know you are gonna have to take them the rest of your life, who care.
Avatar n tn s relatively new and has a host of side effects including severe depression and increased risk of suicide. Does not sound like a good time to me. I would steer clear. Good luck to you.
Avatar m tn I take Remeron for depression and Lyrica for the fibro pain. I could not sleep at night until I started the Lyrica and now I sleep right through. I wonder if it is the Cymbalta affecting your sleep.
653169 tn?1303446369 ve been told the start up side effects on Neurontin are about the same as Lyrica and it took me a little less than a week for that sleepy dopey feeling to subside, and after that I felt ABSOLUTELY normal- like I hadn't taken anything whatsoever. You are on a very SMALL dose, so you'll adjust to it quickly. I'll tell you a funny story- my first week on Lyrica- I accidentally backed out of my garage when the garage door was only half way open.
712802 tn?1274645485 Cymbalta has also had reports of causeing suicidal thoughts and on a molecular leval has a lot of simularities with lyrica so be catreful and stay in close contact with your doctor and us. I take lyrica 150Mg 3x per day and have never had that side effect but I keep a close watch. I also take an antidepresant called trazodone whitch is an older drug but one that is very easy to get along with. Best of luck and God bless.
Avatar n tn I am in the same position with my husband. He is taking Lyrica and we would like to try having our first child. I know this was two years ago, but did your husband end up going off the Lyrica before you conceived?
Avatar f tn I was prescribed lyrica and now I am having trouble walking, standing and driving. Besides the panicky feeling that has started from taking this drug, I also have horrible stomache issues when taking lyrica. It effects my stomache much like an NSAID would. In short, I would say lyrica may be a savior for some but it has been a nightmare for me.
1345254 tn?1325918041 I was on a lyrica regiment for about 6 months and in regard to side effects, never had any adverse reactions that were of concern. At first the Dr started me on gabapentin (neurontin), but that stuff really messed with me. Within a week, I'd wake in the mornings horribly dizzy..It would take me a couple hours just to get feeling somewhat normal. So the Dr switched me to the lyrica..
Avatar n tn others have had great success with lyrica when they reach the right dose..and maybe i coulda..but i gotta work and lyrica wasnt really a choice for me if it would take a mth or more to adjust//and again many do not have these side effects...so i am back on neurontin and here i will stay lyrica is not recommended for anyone with addiction tendencies...i didnt like it so never saw a potentil for abuse..my friend has a filed day with the stuff tho...
