1041243 tn?1375230520 i was on luvox for many year's and it did great, then i had a down turn and went into depression and did not care about anything.so now i am on effexor.it seem's ok,but not as good as luvox was.they said after that many year's on it,it could have run it's course.so they changed it.i asked my doctor if i could go back on luvox because it worked really well for me,and she said that will definatley be open for disscussion.
Avatar f tn I suffer from OCD and have tried numerous serotonin meds, all of which I have had extreme side effects. My doctor put me on Cymbalta, but I have notices increased weight gain. I recently lost quite a bit of weight and no have put back on 15 lbs. She has suggested I try Luvox, but don't know if I should or not. I worked so hard to lose this weight and don't want to gain any more. I am at a loss of what decision to make.
Avatar f tn Hi. I have panic disorder. Took Celexa for 7 years and it pooped out. Pdoc prescribed Luvox. Have taken that for five months and it's just not doing the trick. Still have anxiety and breakthrough panic attacks. He has given me the choice of lexapro or Zoloft. Since Celexa and lexapro are so similar, I'm concerned that the lexapro won't work given that the Celexa stopped working.
Avatar n tn What medications other than Luvox or Celexa could I use for anxiety and ocd? I feel Luvox aint working neither was Celexa. My problem is I cant relax and Im always worrying. I have no compulsions except going on the internet and looking for answers and finding distressing news that I think apply to me. Im tired of this. I deserve to enjoy my life! I dont want to worry about getting it up or my sexual performance. Help!
Avatar f tn Ok i am on luvox and alot of other meds. My main concern is that the luvox will counteract the adderall in some way. Does any one have any experince with this or can give me some info on how luvoz has worked for them?
5154541 tn?1366808691 Hello, it's been about 5 days since I've used the meds and I feel that it's slowly working, which for me is great!!! And no it's no harm whatsoever thoughts. I actually see my doctor next thursday and along with the Luvox I'm taking half of a pill of .5mg xanax. And it seems like it's working for me. THANK YOU for the advice it means a lot to me! And to be honest I think I'm beginning to feel like my old self again! But once again thank you!!
286686 tn?1416012340 How is it possible to feel better after the increase, but then that feeling goes away after a few days? As he says, the medication is not working consistently, and these two medications are specifically for OCD. Also, I know therapy is also supposed to be a big help. He went to two different therapist who did not help at all. We are going to a new therapist next week who deals and works with OCD. I know medications work and effect people differently, but why are they not consistent?
Avatar f tn Due to insurance changes, my doc has changed me to Luvox CR. My usual dose of Luvox is 150 mg once a day. The Luvox CR comes in 100 mg capsules. Would it be okay to take 200 mg of Luvox CR on one day and 100 mg of Luvox CR the next, and alternate since I can't divide the capsules? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Withdrawal from antidepressant/OCD medication, Luvox. I was relieved to see I am not alone with the struggle to quit my medication (AGAIN!). I actually laughed out loud (and it is so not funny-I'm miserable and so are all the folks trying to battle this war) when I read some of the comments pertaining to weaning off Paxil like elevator head and the legs that run on their own (my favorite, LOL!!) because I too am having these symptoms.
Avatar n tn I have been warned by pharmacists that Luvox has a much higher incidence of side effects, especially naseau and weight loss and panic , than Zoloft or lexapro. I have taken lexapro and Zoloft in the past and developed eye floaters . Does this mean I will develop a worse case of eye floaters if I take Luvox? And naseau and losing weight? I cannot afford to be more naseau and to lose more weight as I have lost 45 pounds due to not eating .
Avatar m tn I'm currently prescribed on 100 mg of luvox and 10 mg of abilify. However, I've been mistreated by nearly everyone I met in the past 4 years in high school. Teachers, students, everyone. It can't be them, I'm thinking. It has to be me. As punishment, I want to make my OCD worse until I can barely control it. If I stop taking Luvox and Abilify, will I suffer some sort of neurological damage? Or will the only effect be that my OCD will become worse?
5154541 tn?1366808691 Hello, Yesturday, I went to my therapist for the first time in a couple of months. She finally came up with a diagnosis which is OCD. She prescribed me Luvox. I took the 50mg of Luvox for the first time today. And I felt a little better. It's been about 4 hours since I took it. But now I'm really nervous for some reason that somehow the medicine won't work for me or in the future. And that the bad thoughts I'm having are true about me.
Avatar m tn Have you asked your practitioner why he or she is combining two drugs that target the same neurotransmitter? You might not find a lot of Americans who have taken Luvox, it is used but not that much. When it first was approved in Europe, it didn't seek US approval for a long time, so it didn't catch on here as much as other ssris. It also has a lot more adverse drug interactions than other ssris.
Avatar f tn Has anyone on here been on Luvox? I asked my doc if I could be on it, I've done some research on it and it seems like it works great for OCD. She said it would take about 2 weeks to work. I have OCD and have a fears that I once molested a child....they feel so real and horrible. I'm on other meds as well for this including anxiety. I just wanted to know if anyone on here has been on it and if so how you're doing with it. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Recently I started taking an antipsychotic called Latuda, it was 1 pill of 40mg a day, I only took it for 6 days, so that's 6 pills, and then I changed my mind about taking them because of the fear of side effects, the main fear I have is that they can prolonge QT intervals. I decided to go back to the pill I use to take instead which is Luvox, which is an SSRI.
Avatar m tn s one question not answered. How quickly did you taper off the Luvox? This is a very hard drug to stop taking, and you were on it a long time. Insomnia is the most common long-term withdrawal side effect when stopping antidepressants. Did you have insomnia before going on the Luvox? Do you have new emotional problems now you didn't have then? That could indicate you stopped taking the Luvox too quickly for you, even though you tapered off.
Avatar n tn There are other SSRIs like Luvox that may be a better match, but he should discuss this with his doctor. I support the use of medications like Luvox, but remember it will not cure him of anything...in my experience, it is a great tool to use while learning about your anxiety through counseling. By learning about it, it can help him attain long term relief from it in my opinion....keep us posted!
Avatar f tn I was hoping you might add "anti-depressant" to the treatment section. I'm currently taking Fluvoxamine (Luvox) so I'm using "prozac" as a stand in, but I think a generic option for anti-depressants, or SSRIs would be helpful.
Avatar f tn Medication is where you go when other things are not working. The first place to start is with a psychologist that teaches cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Is that a possibility for you? Also, if a person doesn't have OCD (my husband doesn't) then it is really hard for them to understand the desperation these thoughts make us feel and the lengths that we will go to to make them stop. My last crisis situation was about 2.
1041243 tn?1375230520 A week ago my psychiatrist stopped my 200 mgs of zoloft and started me on luvox 50 mgs a day for the first two weeks then 100 mgs a day there after. A couple days later I started expiriencing major withdrawal symptoms, severe anxiety and panic (more so than usual), insomnia, and some slight agoraphobia (I don't like to leave the house, but I will if I need too) and even stronger ocd symptoms.
Avatar n tn i thought adderal was supposed to stop them but with all meds you might have the opposite reaction, from memory it also makes you really ******* hungry, i take luvox for OCD its anti anxiety and anti depressant. Wirh any anti depressant you need to continutally monitor WHAT they are thinking cause for one person it make them fell normal and in another they may think hammering nails into their head is a cool idea. Nausea all that stuff is common, just check the thoughts, what are they thinking.
1903239 tn?1321679028 I am wondering though if this could be the Vertigo again or the Luvox withdrawal. Would it help if I went back on Luvox again?
