497950 tn?1255863927 Just remember, meds affect people in different ways, but I am a big proponent of meds like these as long as they are combined with talk therapy so you can gain long term knowledge about your anxiety. Also, these meds take a little time to work and in my experience I did have some side effects when I started it, but they went away within a couple of weeks or so...keep us posted!
Avatar m tn s one question not answered. How quickly did you taper off the Luvox? This is a very hard drug to stop taking, and you were on it a long time. Insomnia is the most common long-term withdrawal side effect when stopping antidepressants. Did you have insomnia before going on the Luvox? Do you have new emotional problems now you didn't have then? That could indicate you stopped taking the Luvox too quickly for you, even though you tapered off.
Avatar f tn ve done some research on it and it seems like it works great for OCD. She said it would take about 2 weeks to work. I have OCD and have a fears that I once molested a child....they feel so real and horrible. I'm on other meds as well for this including anxiety. I just wanted to know if anyone on here has been on it and if so how you're doing with it. Thanks.
Avatar m tn My shrink put me on Afranil at night before i go to sleep (apparently its good for DP). I suffer from DPD, Anxiety, Panic disorder and OCD. I also take Luvox 100mg at dinner time at about 6pm. I just want to know how long a part can you take these medications? I don't exactly want to take them together unless they interact with each other.
Avatar n tn Is this the depression from his anxiety or is it from the medication? That can be kind of hard to try to figure out in my experience, but there are other options in my opinion if this does not work for him. Sometimes it is a little trial and error when figuring out which medication is right for you. There are other SSRIs like Luvox that may be a better match, but he should discuss this with his doctor.
Avatar f tn re on Adderall, Wellbutrin, Propanolol, Librium and Luvox? Are the Librium and Propanolol the newest meds added on? How long have you been taking them, and the other drugs? What all exactly have you been diagnnosed with? I'm a firm believer that in some cases, less is more. You're on some pretty heavy hitting meds, all together. That is a little worrisome to me. Who prescribes these? A psychiatrist? How old are you?
1041243 tn?1375230520 i've been on Luvox for about 15 years. I have moderate to severe OCD, this medication has worked the best for me. I have very minimal side effects, and it's never 'fizzled' on me oddly. I have done the therapy but I have found that the medication alone seems to do the job just fine. Perhaps your body is different, as with anyone, we all react differently to different medications. Some work some do not.
Avatar n tn Withdrawal symptoms are highest with Zoloft and Luvox. However, due to lower protein binding in blood, Luvox gets cleared from the body pretty fast compared to Lexapro and Zoloft, so withdrawal symptoms can abate faster. So Zoloft and Luvox are comparable in terms of effect and use, with Zoloft having a wider clinical application. However, both are necessary to treat anxiety, depression and OCD and the benefits of their treating these disorders outweigh their side effects.
286686 tn?1416012340 If your son does just as well on 50mg luvox, you might want to go back to it.
Avatar f tn I am getting tired already tho and having back/ hip pain so hoping I can last that long at work. Work as long as I your body will let you.
Avatar n tn You can always ask one of the doctors on Medhelp's Doctor forum. It's my understanding that Luvox is prescribed for people who have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Is that you? Call your doctor. Tell him/her how you've been feeling. Doctors are there to help. It's important to give the doctor feedback as to how you're feeling, so that changes can be made. I would call your doctor ASAP. There is no reason for you to suffer.
3755490 tn?1349297255 Thanks. I live in Georiga near Atlanta and this was the first time I have ever been to a psychiatrist. Needless to say I won't ever be taking that med (Luvox) again.

Avatar n tn 25 ativan 3x daily. was upped to .5 mg 3x daily on friday due to shakiness, anxiousness. waqnts me to try luvox next week and felt ativan and luvox would have less interaction than xanax. My question can a "cold" switchover from xanax to ativan cause withdrawal symptoms?
899924 tn?1242965952 t working and interacts adversely with a long list of other medications you might need, I suggest you wean off it, but learn how to do it first. I personally would have tried therapy first to try and find where the insecurity is coming from, but if you're going to do medication, when it doesn't work, move on.
1903239 tn?1321679028 So about two months ago I got vertigo. It wasn't because of labyrinthitis (I've had that before, years ago) but because, according to my doctor, a very strict (carbs free) diet I have been doing. He gave me a couple of shots and prescribed me some meds. That cured it all. I feel like it is now slowly coming back though, and I am so afraid because I had never felt so sick in my life as I did two months ago. It took me like two weeks to recuperate.
5154541 tn?1366808691 I think you are still feeling the outpouring of your obsessive thought and worry that is still untreated as the medication does take some time to work. Please stick with it and give the medication a chance to get into your system and do its job. It can take around 6 weeks for the medication to be really working so hang in there. Stay in contact with your doctor. so, keep with it and give the medication a chance. Intrusive, obsessive worry is difficult to handle.
Avatar n tn Viagra or Cialis didnt work. Went back on Luvox up to 150mg and Neurontin 300mg 2x a day.I would get an erection but a thought would pop into my head that Im not performing well and it would go down. Somehow Cialis started to work for me again and its been successful. Now my question, is this the medication, or indeed performance anxiety or just anxiety and stress? I also have been stressing and obsessing about post ssri sexual dysfunction.
Avatar n tn My phycologist has diagnosed me with PTSD on top of my GAD, OCD, depression. My PTSD symtpoms are what I'm struggleing the most from now. I'm not sure how to cope with it my self. I'm on Luvox 200mg and seeing my phycologist every 2 week's. My stress level since a home invasion has spiked big time. I snap at my kids when I dont want to specially if they suprise me.
Avatar f tn Due to insurance changes, my doc has changed me to Luvox CR. My usual dose of Luvox is 150 mg once a day. The Luvox CR comes in 100 mg capsules. Would it be okay to take 200 mg of Luvox CR on one day and 100 mg of Luvox CR the next, and alternate since I can't divide the capsules? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the suggestion. We do have some general categories of medications, such as anti-anxiety meds in the Mood Tracker. However, we would rather not add a generic anti-depressant category since it makes more sense to track the actual anti-depressant medication you're using. Otherwise, users may just all select that category and then no one one would be able to learn from other trackers what works and what doesn't work.
Avatar f tn Also has anyone tried Luvox for OCD? I've been on Prozac and Zoloft and still mAnage to not be able to control scary thought. After I had my daughter they got real bad too.
Avatar m tn re having these kinds of reactions, you seem to need a change. If one works, why use two? And why risk two that work similarly?
5154541 tn?1366808691 Hello, Yesturday, I went to my therapist for the first time in a couple of months. She finally came up with a diagnosis which is OCD. She prescribed me Luvox. I took the 50mg of Luvox for the first time today. And I felt a little better. It's been about 4 hours since I took it. But now I'm really nervous for some reason that somehow the medicine won't work for me or in the future. And that the bad thoughts I'm having are true about me.
Avatar f tn I am switching from luvox 200mg to lexapro 20mg. The luvox caused weight gain, fatigue, sexual side effects. Wellbutrin I have heard makes OCD worse because it raises levels of dopamine.
Avatar m tn 3 years ago she began treatment at as outpatient. The Dr. prescribed Luvox (I think the initial dosage was 50; it was cut to 25 about 1 year ago) which helped her work through the things causing depression and she is well on her way to recovery (by her own admission and I concur). She wants to stop the medication safely, but her doctor is reluctant to allow her to stop. FYI, we live in Japan and Japanese doctors are assured payment by Health Insurers by prescribing medication.
