Lunesta with trazodone

Common Questions and Answers about Lunesta with trazodone

lunesta

Avatar m tn I would avoid Lunesta or any other Big Pharma 'sleeping pill' Not a lot of docs know about it but Trazodone works well for many people. During my rough sleep periods I used Trazodone, Melatonin & Benadryl. Got a decent nights sleep every time with that combo. If you want more info on Trazodone let me know.
Avatar f tn Swampy's aunt takes Trazodone. It works for her, but it did take several weeks to really kick in. She got it to replace an Ambien prescription. Swampy's aunt also has depression, and it helps that too.
Avatar m tn I have heard this is common with Zoloft. My doctor told me to take Xanax to sleep, also tried Trazodone, Melatonin, and many over the counter - the only thing that works is the Xanax however I won't take this every night. I have also heard from many sources that the sleeplessness gets better over time, that it can take a couple of months.
Avatar m tn They gave me trazodone and it did nothing for me. I would even take 4 and it didn't do anything. I'm on lunesta now. It works.
Avatar f tn I've had some success with trazodone. I've never heard that it can cause tardive dyskinesia. Suppose its possible. Dont suppose I'd give up and trying it just one night. Give more time, if you are able to handle the side effects. For me, I do sometimes feel tired and with headache following day, but not always. Trade-off for me as I, like you, cannot sleep. I tried Ambien, but was very spacey (more than normal :)) the next day.
514273 tn?1311609635 ve decided to clean up. Try the trazodone that the eagle recommended.. Dont bother with Ambien or Lunesta - it wont help... I took Lunesta through detox and for all I know a tic tac would have been more effective. You know you can get through it - you have done it before. Just stay strong and prepare for the 'staying' clean part.. much harder than the 'getting' clean part. Best of luck!
Avatar m tn A little bit background info on me, I am 18 years old and at one point was on IV Ativant (2mg) along with Morphine for pain every-night in the hospital (for about 4 months) to help me sleep and control pain while I was being treated for Lymphoma. I am in remission for the cancer now, but still am having a ton of trouble falling asleep AND staying asleep. If I do manage to fall asleep (which takes >2 hours) I seem to wake up at least 3-4 times a night.
Avatar n tn I had an allergic reaction to ambien so I can not personally reccomend it. However I loved my lunesta, it worked very fast. Now, just like with pain pills when you take sleeping pills be prepared to go to sleep. They are aiding you not making you go to sleep. It is not anesthesia so don't expect it to work as such. I no longer can afford the lunesta I go to my local VA for my medications and they don't carry lunesta.
Avatar n tn Diagnosed with mid level depression and panic/anxiety attacks. I have been on buspirone and it does not seem to work. Doc wants me to stay on that and then take 1 Lexapro per day. Also a sleep aid. I think he will take me of Buspirone when the Lexapro reaches its working period. I asked and he informed me that this is not a lifetime thing and you can get off this stuff. Also he advises that lexapro is non-habit as is the sleep aid/anti depressent trazadone he gave me.
Avatar m tn elavil...trazodone all help with sleep I take a small dose of ambien and it knocks me out....
Avatar f tn I started taking Ambien & Prozac in Oct 2009. I started building a resistance so my doctor prescribed for me Restoril, that didn't work so she started me on Lunesta. After I started building a resistance to the Lunesta my doctor prescribed for me Ambien CR 12.5mg. It's now March 2010 and I need 4 or more Ambien CR to sleep. I can't sleep without it!!! I haven't taken the CR 12.5mg in 24hr and I have the common addiction symptoms.
Avatar m tn ve tried medication (ambien, trazodone, CBD oil, lunesta) all to no avail. Medication will work for awhile and then I must work up a tolerance because it's no longer effective. As in, it makes me groggy but doesn't knock me out. I've tried meditation and while that works initially to relax my mind, as soon as I drift off I snap awake. The only thing that knocks me out is severe sleep deprivation (being awake for more than 24 hours) or alcohol (which is less than ideal).
Avatar f tn A new doctor prescribed 100 to 200mg Trazodone and 15mg Mirtazapine. The first night, I took both medications with horrendous results and no sleep. The second night, I took 100mg Trazodone with equally bad results. I was at a loss and stopped taken all medications. At around 2 PM, 12/25/2010, I hit rock bottom. I was wondering what would happen to my two big dogs, if I were to call 911. It would be a death sentence for them! I just couldn't allow that to happen.
Avatar f tn i started treatment with suboxone tuesday now i sleep fine tuesday night but for the past to nights i have been having trouble sleeping. i can fall asleep i just can sleep more then 1 to 2 hours at a time and during the day i have such a headache from being tired. i have tried tylenol pm and excedtrin pm. i dont now what to do. should i call me sub dr and let him know whats going on?
266660 tn?1189755834 Did you talk with your doctor about taking the two together, like a half hour before bed? I used to take my kpin before bed with some medication that makes you tired together. How does the lunesta work btw?
Avatar f tn d the rozarem along with the lunesta (this was my sub doctor - said it was perfectly safe and I had no bad effects from it). I actually liked the rozarem. I dont know if youve ever seen the "It brings your dreams back" commercials, but it REALLY DID bring my dreams back. I got such a kick out of that. I dreampt every night. (I no longer ever dream). I stopped getting it though as it was not covered under my insurance and couldnt afford it.
Avatar m tn Personally I have been able to work my way through a list of meds to find one that works for me; Trazodone, Rozerem, Lunesta, Ambien, and finally Ambien CR which I consider a miracle drug. Hope this helps and hope you decide to see your doc. Good Luck!
202665 tn?1248806733 i know mine changed about every two weeks for the first couple of months and I was tracking the med and dosage myself along with my moods to review with the doctor. these meds and dosages can also chage further on in treatment as your body adapts....and then again as you start to try and wean off. so this would be very important to have. The same goes for sleep meds on this tracker. This isn't necessarily a sleep disorder...it's just part of depression.
Avatar f tn ) And in the only sizable study to compare trazodone with Ambien as a sleep aid, the two drugs performed equally well.
Avatar f tn Hey all, so I got tired of not sleeping more than 4hrs a night after being off of Tramadol 42days and my Dr gave me Lunesta. I asked if it was addicting and he said yes but you won't buid up a tolerance to it... I would like to hear this though from someone that has taken this medication and has had to come off it... How hard was it? What where the wds like???ect.ect any info on this would be appreciated...Thank You. Jeffi.
2021910 tn?1339896686 I'm on Ambien every night, otherwise, I would only get 2 hours of sleep a night. The benefits outweigh the risks. My doctor said there is a chance of depending on it to put you to sleep, but when my newborn comes, I'll wean off of it from having to be up with him all night. I even took Ambien with my first son, and he was born picture perfect. Get some rest!
Avatar m tn The highest available dose of Lunesta is 3mg. Recently, thought is that Lunesta, Ambien, and others in this class are very similar to benzodiazepine drugs. But I haven't read much about addiction or withdrawl from these meds. Seems like insomnia would be a given, but you could try melatonin or valerian root to combat that. Good luck either way.
Avatar f tn It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.
726698 tn?1249781717 My doc put me on 50 mg of Trazodone a week ago for insomnia, Its not doing ****, I took one at 10pm now its going on 2:30am, same story all week, How long does it take for this to work? I don't feel anything from it. Ive tried Ambien too, that did nothing Id just wake up 2 hours after taking it , then be ready for the sun to come up, so frustrating. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem first starting out, did it start working eventually???
Avatar n tn things that can help promote sleep, such as Melatonin and some people have good results with them. Unfortunately, I also have lupus and Melatonin is contraindicated with any type of auto immune disorder, so I can't even try it to see if it would help. If you're finding that you need to take more of the Xanax in order to sleep, it's definitely time to talk to your doctor about giving somethign else a try.
