lunesta

Avatar f tn Has anybody tried the medication Restoril for treating insomnia? I'm interested in hearing people's opinions of it. Any adverse side effects? Issues with tolerance/dependence/withdrawal? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I just can't fall asleep at all. I've tried lunesta, ambien, restoril and risperdal, Trazadone and serequel. Thinking about asking for remeron.. Any ideas of what might work?
1201433 tn?1328997637 Bless your heart! I can totally relate to the insomnia! My doctor has me on 7.5 mg of Restoril at this point. It doesn't help me fall asleep but it will help keep me asleep. My sleep schedule is to go to bed around midnight. Lie there for an hour and a half to three hours trying to fall asleep. Then I sleep till 6:30 - get up, take meds, stumble back to bed and sleep until around noon. I nap in the afternoon if I can.
Avatar f tn Hello there. I need to find out how to get some help. Although, I don't feel that I've been abusing Ultram and Restoril, I do feel that I've gotten a drug dependence on both of them. I want to stop them, but I'm afraid of the withrdrawal process without medical supervision. I have always taken the prescribed amount. On the Ultram, that amount is 1- 50mg tablet per day, or I am allowed to take a second one if needed when I have more pain.
Avatar f tn I started taking Ambien & Prozac in Oct 2009. I started building a resistance so my doctor prescribed for me Restoril, that didn't work so she started me on Lunesta. After I started building a resistance to the Lunesta my doctor prescribed for me Ambien CR 12.5mg. It's now March 2010 and I need 4 or more Ambien CR to sleep. I can't sleep without it!!! I haven't taken the CR 12.5mg in 24hr and I have the common addiction symptoms.
4626633 tn?1382597122 Hi everyone. So, I am dealing with major insomnia. I don't believe it's opiate related. I dealt with it some prior to opiates too. I'm sleeping 3 hours a night max. At least two nights a week, none. It's affecting my health and well being now. Opiates I quit 9 months ago. Xanax, I quit in March. I wasn't mentally addicted to Xanax, but withdrawal was horrendous. I had been on 17 years. I quit only because my Dr moved, and I had not much warning.
Avatar m tn It is good to hear that someone had a good experience with Temazepam. I have a prescription for 30 mg. as well. Sleep good with it. I've used Ambien and also Lunesta. They put me to sleep but I wake up after 4-5 hrs. My doctor increased my mg on the Lunesta from 2 mg to 3 mg (he didn't want to at first) but I still didn't get the results of staying asleep. I know the Temazepam (Restoril) is a benzodiazepine and I've been tapering off Ativan, which is in the same family.
744415 tn?1243953376 ones who had the nasty side affects of amnesia and nighttime psychosis when I took it. So, he switched me to Lunesta and I hated the gross taste it put in my mouth, plus I built up a tolerance to it very quickly. He later switched me to 15mg of Restoril, I again built up a tolerance to it really quickly. Now, I'm on 30mg of Restoril and so far, so good. I can't take OTC sleeping pills b/c they make me feel hungover the next day, no matter what time I take them.
1580703 tn?1651904887 my EEG, sleep study shows I am getting 0% stage 3/4 sleep- will Restoril or another drug help me? I've tried zolpidem and it helps my insomnia but I am still have low O2 about 70% I think with my sleep apnea This discussion is related to Ambien effects.
Avatar f tn There are several other sleep meds on the market, including older ones like Restoril (a benzodiazepene) and newer ones like Lunesta. Ambien does make many people hallucinate and behave oddly, while not remembering anything. Have you had a sleep study done? Looked at possible sleep apnea, obstructive or central, or other sleep disorders? Maybe something to explore, since prolonged insomnia can cause a lot of odd symptoms.
Avatar n tn I am having to take sleeping pills to sleep. I tried Ambien, Ambien CR, Lunesta, and amitriptyline. Each medicine would only let me sleep for four hours a night. So I am taking the Lunesta right now. But it is very hard functioning during the day as I am very fatigued. My body previously was use to getting 8 hours of sleep a day. Do you know of any other medicines that would help with longer sleep? How long does it usually take for the sleep to return on its own?
Avatar f tn Hey all, so I got tired of not sleeping more than 4hrs a night after being off of Tramadol 42days and my Dr gave me Lunesta. I asked if it was addicting and he said yes but you won't buid up a tolerance to it... I would like to hear this though from someone that has taken this medication and has had to come off it... How hard was it? What where the wds like???ect.ect any info on this would be appreciated...Thank You. Jeffi.
Avatar m tn The highest available dose of Lunesta is 3mg. Recently, thought is that Lunesta, Ambien, and others in this class are very similar to benzodiazepine drugs. But I haven't read much about addiction or withdrawl from these meds. Seems like insomnia would be a given, but you could try melatonin or valerian root to combat that. Good luck either way.
2021910 tn?1339896686 so when I was in the Er last night they gave me Lunesta a sleeping pill to help me sleep I'm 31 w 5 d n my mom told me its not safe...is it..I mean babys fine n stuff but the hospital wouldn't give it to me if it wasent ok right ?
Avatar f tn It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.
710513 tn?1247522479 temeazepam is an rx sleep aid...not really an aid, it'll knock you out for the night. it's generic for restoril. when i was at the clinic we used to switch this drug for patients whos insurance wouldn't pay for ambien or lunesta...it can be addicting...it gets easier to become addicted when used for more than 3-4 weeks straight. not sure why insurance won't cover the whole month...did you ask the md about prior-authorization for this drug?
Avatar n tn Husband has been taking 30mg restoril for almost 2 months. I believe most of the problems he is suffering from are side effects of the restoril. His doctor switched him to ambien cr without warning of withdrawal side effects...after a suicide attempt. I thought he was going to go crazy...jerking; crying out; standing still clutching his chest with look of horror on his face. This went on all day long. We thought it was the change to ambien (only drug being used and only change).
243614 tn?1266197537 I have tried the roserom, did not work. i have not tired the other two.maybe i should look them up and see what they say. I think i did have restoril for a short time, but isn't it pretty addicitive? thanks.
Avatar n tn i have been on .5mg xanx 2 to 3 a day for 10 years ..and one 30 mg restoril at night...went to dr put me on zoloft at 50mg going to get it up to 200 mg .. HATE IT ..took me off restoril.. put me one 3 xanx a day ... all i want to just get off all medication.. with out going on anything at all to get off the xanx and restoril..
Avatar f tn 5mg- of Restoril to be taken prior to bedtime for sleep. As i understood it, the Restoril was okay because of how it is processed in the body as opposed to the way Xanax is processe (in relation to the telaprevir). Restoril is used more as a sleep aid whereas Xanax is specifically targeted for anxiety. All benzos have the potential to be addicting, as can many other drugs. If a drug is taken as prescribed and one uses the drug with caution, there shouldn't be a problem IMO.
1795856 tn?1319216013 I cannot remember the last night I had a solid 6-8 of sleep in a row or waking up refreshed at all. My mind does not slow down to go to sleep and I wake up several times a night (sometimes because of pain, and sometimes I just check the clock to see how much time I have left to sleep before my alarm is going to go off. Way back in high school I used to set an alarm for 330am just so i could wake up and know I could go back to sleep. I think that's how I started this vicious cycle.
