Lunesta vs klonopin

Common Questions and Answers about Lunesta vs klonopin

lunesta

266660 tn?1189755834 ) I was prescribed Klonopin for anxiety and sleep and she said to not take it with Lunesta (this is after I asked *her*, she didn't mention it until then.) The Klonopin seems to work as well as the Lunesta, BTW. Kevin, I've read that Lunesta and Ambien are the same "types" of sleep aids but that is all I know. I hope Ryan can clear this up for us.
Avatar m tn As needed or regularly? I personally would be scared to take Klonopin and Lunesta together. Have you done it yet? Is the Lunesta just for once in awhile?
Avatar n tn I have just started Klonopin for lack of sleep! not depression or anxiety... however, now after a week I am finding that I am emotional, tearing up a lot........ Lack of sleep is the pain from arthritis in my neck, spine, ankle. Also SLE which often gives us lack of sleep. I also have heart problems, and diabetic. However, I have a very good outlook on life, meditate often, and have photography (hobby) as a very good release of stress.
Avatar n tn Can I take Klonopin wafer with my other sleeps meds: Lunesta 6mg, Tamazapan 30mg and Melontonin 5mg...? Thank you.
Avatar f tn As of last week (maybe two weeks ago), I had reduced my Klonopin intake from 3 MG/day to 1.5 MG/day.
1000729 tn?1253365050 5mg of the klonopin but he wants me using it during the day and then the Lunesta at night.... Tried it last night and ended up using the klonopin anyways..... Oh well..... I'm thinkin it's just to early to try and use a sedative like Lunesta to tame the beast anyways.... I am going to keep with the klonopin for the next few nights and give it another try just to see..... It's all about trial and error as it really seems like some things work for some that don't for others...
Avatar n tn I can personally say that I was prescribed 8 mgs of Suboxone and 2 mgs of Klonopin per day. I had been on the Klonopin for a while before I started the Suboxone. And I was very eager to get off the Suboxone, so I always kept my dose at the threshold of withdrawal...not taking amounts that would get me high. For me, the Klonopin was actually a very helpful tool in tapering down my Suboxone.
1722607 tn?1335747858 Just a word of caution about Klonopin (also valium zanex, ativan, all benzodiazipines). They are very addiciting and can be difficult to get off of. There are several other anti-anxiety medications (which are not benzodiazipines and which are not addicting) that can be prescribed by your doctor.
323551 tn?1255174750 not that close at all chemically...klonopin is by far the more habit forming of the 2 even if used as prescribed...down the chemical chain there are similarities and both should be tapered.....ambien can become habit forming if abused...klonopin can even easier at a prescribed dose...anything u choose to sleep with..even tylenol pm can be psychologically habitforming...if u r using 5-10 mg of ambien to sleep at night while detoxing off of klonopin...i would not worry...
Avatar n tn I then started ativan 1mg and was able to relax enough to get to sleep I took that for four months with good results then boom I could not fall alseep with it anymore I developed a tolerence for it . I now started on Lunesta but I still have trouble falling asleep with that I am going to call my Dr and get a bigger dose its like my brain does not want to fall asleep.
599170 tn?1300973893 Your doctor switched the Xanax to Klonopin due to the chronic use and longer half-life. Klonopin is more suitable for long-term use than Xanax. It passes rapidly into the central nervous system, with levels in the brain corresponding with levels of unbound clonazepam in the blood serum. Xanax should only be used occasionally or for a short-term treatment of anxiety. Celexa is a very common SSRI AD and it works for many people this might explain the medication switch.
Avatar f tn It's been 8 days since I reduced my Klonopin from 3 MG per day to 1.5 MG per day. Most of the physical withdrawal symptoms have subsided (my vision is still a little blurry and I still feel a bit feverish), but the psychological symptoms are still in full-swing: irritability, agorophobia, etc. I really want to cut one of my doses so that I'm down to 1 MG per day, but I'm not sure if it's safe/wise to do so yet... Advice?
Avatar f tn t return to that clinic, mainly because they were so pricey. About six months ago, my psychiatric nurse pract. put me on Lunesta...which helped, but not as much as the valerian (my old best, albeit stinky friend). When my new "regular" doc said lunesta interacts with thyroid meds, I just stopped it and went back on valerian...until i found some old Klonopin. It doe help but makes me sleepier than valerian, plus I don't like the side-effects I've read about...
Avatar f tn I tried to find some information about Klonopin addiction on MedHelp, but no one really seemed to know what they were talking about in the threads I've found. Is there anyone out there that has a firm grasp on benzodiazapine addiction and withdrawal? I've been on 3 MG of Klonopin for about 1.5 years (prescribed by a doctor for panic attacks and anxiety). My doctor and I have decided to reduce this to 1.5 MG per day, down to 1 MG per day starting in one week, and down to zero in two.
1580703 tn?1651904887 ve discovered that to treat my crippling sleep breathing disease I need to use an alpha GABA agonist like klonopin or ambien. is there a medication that is even better like clorazapete or GABA acid OTC? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GABA_receptor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GABA_agonist what does this mean, which disease do I have? Thanks!
Avatar m tn The Xanax worked better for me as far as a quick fix. I am now taking Klonopin along with Paxil. I take the Klonopin twice a day where I was taking Xanax only once a day. I didn't notice any sexual side effects with Xanax. I haven't noticed any side effects with the Klonopin either though. But I guess it affects each person differently. I did notice that with Xanax, it will make you very relaxed. Klonopin doesn't have that same affect on me. But, the Paxil does!!!!
Avatar m tn Can anyone tell me if it is safe to switch from Xanax to Klonopin abruptly and deal with the taper of the Klonopin later or should I do an inter dose schedule, crossing from one to another and at what rate? Please help, any suggestion is appreciated.
Avatar n tn Klonopin is usually prescribed more long term because of its longer half life. Both do a good job in what they are designed to do in my opinion, but ativan is usually prescribed in the short term. During all of this, have you made arrangements for counseling? Learning about your panic is a great way to confront it, understand it, and ultimately beat it in my opinion.
Avatar f tn I started taking Ambien & Prozac in Oct 2009. I started building a resistance so my doctor prescribed for me Restoril, that didn't work so she started me on Lunesta. After I started building a resistance to the Lunesta my doctor prescribed for me Ambien CR 12.5mg. It's now March 2010 and I need 4 or more Ambien CR to sleep. I can't sleep without it!!! I haven't taken the CR 12.5mg in 24hr and I have the common addiction symptoms.
Avatar m tn t know what to do except try to taper off the Klonopin, but that is hard to do too. I do think the Klonopin is the reason for the headaches.
Avatar n tn I am having to take sleeping pills to sleep. I tried Ambien, Ambien CR, Lunesta, and amitriptyline. Each medicine would only let me sleep for four hours a night. So I am taking the Lunesta right now. But it is very hard functioning during the day as I am very fatigued. My body previously was use to getting 8 hours of sleep a day. Do you know of any other medicines that would help with longer sleep? How long does it usually take for the sleep to return on its own?
Avatar m tn And yes, there are quite a few benefits of klonopin v Xanax. Klonopin will stay in your system for 8-12 hours as opposed to the 4-6 hours Xanax will. Klonopin will "accumulate" and Xanax will NOT. This means that when your body runs out of Xanax, you're running on empty. Klonopin will always leave you with some reserve, you will always be "covered.
Avatar f tn Hey all, so I got tired of not sleeping more than 4hrs a night after being off of Tramadol 42days and my Dr gave me Lunesta. How hard was it? What where the wds like???ect.ect any info on this would be appreciated...Thank You. Jeffi.
