I took Lunesta 3mg, or whatever highest dose is, for a month. I never got over the metallic taste either so I stopped. I didn't have any issues stopping, but it didn't work well for me with sleep anyway.
I would try only when needed.
I've taken Sub strips but the taste never really bothered me but I can also chew lunesta, which would cause some people to vomit. I checked the wed and there's all sorts of commets from others regarding the bad taste but I didn't see any solutions. There's several products out there now, including generics, so you may want to talk with your doc.
For the last fev days, ever since we are using humidifier I have a metallic taste in my mouth; the strongest is always in the morning; my husband just turn on house humidifier and I wonder if this is just coincident, or it does have something to do with the humidifier... furnice, and humidifier are working more during the night, that would explain, but is so strange... anybody has any idea?
My doctor gave me Lunesta to sleep. I also tried Rozerem. Lunesta worked GREAT!!!!! The only side effect I had was strange taste in my mouth when it started to kick in. But I would fall asleep and STAY asleep for 7 to 8 hours. When I wake up, Im wide awke and feel rested. If not, after the first 3 nights of not sleeping I would have been in the hospital because I felt like I was going crazy. Rozerem did not work as fast at nite and I did wake up and was sleepy in the morning.
I would agree with ricart....if you are getting even a little natural sleep then your better off staying away from Lunesta....I will also add that one side effect experienced frequently...myself included....is a taste like sucking on a sock full of dirty pennies...eww!!!!
They say its non addictive but LIARs Liars, pants on fires. I have heard of horrific withdrawal stories from it. Lunesta gave me the metalic taste as does Ambien. Also makes my gums inside my cheeks sore and jaw pain. Had to get off of both. Lyrica makes me sleep all night and half the morning so, Im not taking it anymore. Not a good drug for sleeping if that's what your looking for. Has addictive qualities.
I then started ativan 1mg and was able to relax enough to get to sleep I took that for four months with good results then boom I could not fall alseep with it anymore I developed a tolerence for it . I now started on Lunesta but I still have trouble falling asleep with that I am going to call my Dr and get a bigger dose its like my brain does not want to fall asleep.
I have noticed that right after and for a day or two after the shot, I get a nasty coated tongue and throat that tastes horrible, but is usually gone in a couple days. I'm on triple w/ incivek.
I thought it might be the lunesta, since I only take it on shot night.
The highest available dose of Lunesta is 3mg. Recently, thought is that Lunesta, Ambien, and others in this class are very similar to benzodiazepine drugs. But I haven't read much about addiction or withdrawl from these meds. Seems like insomnia would be a given, but you could try melatonin or valerian root to combat that. Good luck either way.
It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.
