Lunesta rebound insomnia

Common Questions and Answers about Lunesta rebound insomnia

lunesta

Avatar f tn Or would it be ok to just quit. I expect rebound insomnia. Ill take tylenol pm or benadryl and do my best. Ive heard its similar to a benzo (surprise) so I would like to avoid any type of benzo type w/drawal, which Ive never had but heard are horrendous.
Avatar m tn I think the biggest side effect that you might have will be insomnia. I used to take Lunesta and when I stopped I didn't sleep for a week. On a positive note,,,COngrats on 20days!!!
Avatar f tn Hey Sandy is Lyrica better than Lunesta? I'm trying out the Lunesta but I get a metalic flavor after I take it and it doesn't go away till like mid day the next day...
Avatar f tn t mean that might not be the only alternative for some people, but for most taking any drug because of sedation side effects will eventually probably stop working and lead to something called rebound insomnia, which means not solving the problem and relying on medication can make it worse in the long term.

Please make sure you recognize that this forum is for educational purposes only, and it does not substitute for a formal office visit with your doctor. Avatar n tn anybody have ideas to help insomnia, i am taking melatonin and it was working during tx , but I am in the middle of my third week of tx . i have a chemically induced daze, little fatigue , muscle aches amd slight insomnia and melatonin doesnt seem to kick in , so i tale a little Ativan and it helps a little.
Avatar m tn withdrawal symptoms can be very bad and include rebound insomnia. Tough it out until you are free of the drugs. At that point, assuming that there is no underlying medical condition that is keeping you awake, you will be better able to tackle the anxiety that is causing your insomnia. I know this is harder than it sounds but that is really all it was in my case. Once I realized that there was nothing wrong with me except anxiety caused by lack of sleep, I was able to overcome the problem.
Avatar n tn I dont know why it is making me nausea. My doc then perscribed lunesta 3mg. Has anyone tried lunesta and experienced better sleep with it? I am afraid of trying lunesta because i dont want to feel so nausea again. I didn't take any sleep med last night...didnt have a very good sleep but still i feel nausea. How hard was it? What where the wds like???ect.ect any info on this would be appreciated...Thank You. Jeffi.
Avatar m tn s best to not take something to help her sleep for extended periods of time, or she will then have to contend with rebound insomnia. Short intervals are best. Good luck, hope she gets some Zzzzzs!
458072 tn?1291415186 I have had insomnia for over 2 years now. I wake up all night long, just about like clock work. Sometimes with a startle reflex. I believe it is related to my hypothyroidism and maybe the adrenal fatigue.. I have not found a med to help with this. Even had some drs tell me, it would not resolve until the thyroid was undercontrol. Does anyone else have this problem, or is it just me?
1102799 tn?1269237714 Has anyone ever had insomnia during pregnancy? I swear there must be something else I could be doing to help my body get back on track! My Dr has prescribed 10 mg of ambien but it dosent seem to help me fall asleep.HELP!
1355301 tn?1287967641 I can understand why you're leary about trying the Ambien - I've never had any trouble with it, but of course, everyone is different and how a medication affects one person may or may not be how it affects someone else. I would suggest if you do decide at some point to give the Ambien a try, definitely try it on a night when your husband is not working, just on teh off chance that you do have a "reaction" to it. What dose of teh Lunesta are you currently taking?
Avatar m tn The biggest reason is because, depending on how long you would take one of these meds, you will have to deal with rebound insomnia when you stop taking them. The rebound insomnia is often bad enough that it makes the initial insomnia look like a walk in the park. Insomnia meds should be limited to the shortest course possible, to avoid dependency, and the rebound insomnia issues. That being said, I am a professional insomniac.
Avatar n tn Both Ambien and Lunesta are used to treat insomnia. However, on long term use, both have the potential of dependence / habit forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for. Treatment with Ambien may cause side effects like impairment of thinking or reactions. You may still feel sleepy the morning after taking the medication. In patients with liver disorder, a smaller dose of Ambien is generally prescribed. Ambien addiction is a serious problem requiring treatment.
Avatar f tn 4 days is the longest i have gone without sleep. Ativan worked for 3 days, Lunesta only worked for 2. I do not know why my body builds up a tolerance to everything. I will be a complete basket soon if i can not sleeep. Please tell me I am not the only one this is happening to. My GYN has no suggestions past the Lunesta. I know I will end up in the emergency room soon. I don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn Now I am post TX and the insomnia has not yet left, so they prescribed Ambien and Lunesta for me (i grew allergic to something in the benedryl). They are all harmless to liver but the ambien & lunesta do cause dependence so I alternate them: Ambien for a couple nights, then lunesta (which does not work as well for me) for one night. The 'dependence' is not a big deal; just means you'll have a several very sleepless nights after you quit them.
Avatar n tn I know what you are going though I have very insomnia also but only just recently I used to be able to sleep very well without any medications. I then started ativan 1mg and was able to relax enough to get to sleep I took that for four months with good results then boom I could not fall alseep with it anymore I developed a tolerence for it .
Avatar f tn You may not have experienced all the withdrawal symptoms they look for because of the additional drugs they gave you... maybe....
Avatar m tn My doc prescribed Lunesta and I took that for the first time last night - slept for only 2 hours and woke in a hot sweat. That was it for the night. It seems that my stomach pains may be stress-related and that this may be the reason I'm waking up and can't get back to sleep. I'm having a difficult time making it through the day due to lack of sleep. Also feeling kind of foggy from the meds. Never had sleep issues before my trip.
Avatar n tn June the 19th I return to the doctor for blood work to test my thyroid. Since May 22, 2008 I am having problems sleeping. I have insomnia. First it started with me being able to go to sleep and later I would wake up around 5:00am in the morning every day. Then it got worse were now I can not sleep on my own at all. I am having to take sleeping pills to sleep. I tried Ambien, Ambien CR, Lunesta, and amitriptyline. Each medicine would only let me sleep for four hours a night.
Avatar n tn I am sorry to hear your suffering from insomnia so much. I can so sympathize with you. I have had insomnia issues for twenty years or more and have tried just about everything on the market. Currently I am having the best success with progesterone treatment and relaxation techniques for sleep. Depending on your age hormone imblance may be an angle to look into. The progesterone has really helped with getting rid of migraines for me too.
Avatar m tn t advised to replace it with another med for insomnia, as that can just make the resulting rebound insomnia even worse. While you most certainly may lose some sleep for a while, it's best if you can try to let your sleep normalize on your own. If you REALLY are struggling to get sleep, I would recommend starting with something more natural, like Melatonin, or Alteril. Sleeptytime tea is a fave for a lot of people. That's the other advantage to tapering slowly, even on a low dose...
Avatar n tn Do prescription drugs that are used for people like myself with chronic Insomnia cause depression? Since I have been taken Lunesta now for 8 months I have been depressed and have been prescribed Fluoxetine by my doctor. My friend Roberto has told me about a new product that is advertised on TV called Straight2sleep that he is trying. He said that it is all natural and gives him a great night sleep with no side effects. Do you know of this product and how effective is it?
