458072 tn?1291415186 I have had insomnia for over 2 years now. I wake up all night long, just about like clock work. Sometimes with a startle reflex. I believe it is related to my hypothyroidism and maybe the adrenal fatigue.. I have not found a med to help with this. Even had some drs tell me, it would not resolve until the thyroid was undercontrol. Does anyone else have this problem, or is it just me?
1102799 tn?1269237714 Has anyone ever had insomnia during pregnancy? I swear there must be something else I could be doing to help my body get back on track! My Dr has prescribed 10 mg of ambien but it dosent seem to help me fall asleep.HELP!
Avatar n tn Both Ambien and Lunesta are used to treat insomnia. However, on long term use, both have the potential of dependence / habit forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for. Treatment with Ambien may cause side effects like impairment of thinking or reactions. You may still feel sleepy the morning after taking the medication. In patients with liver disorder, a smaller dose of Ambien is generally prescribed. Ambien addiction is a serious problem requiring treatment.
Avatar f tn 4 days is the longest i have gone without sleep. Ativan worked for 3 days, Lunesta only worked for 2. I do not know why my body builds up a tolerance to everything. I will be a complete basket soon if i can not sleeep. Please tell me I am not the only one this is happening to. My GYN has no suggestions past the Lunesta. I know I will end up in the emergency room soon. I don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn Now I am post TX and the insomnia has not yet left, so they prescribed Ambien and Lunesta for me (i grew allergic to something in the benedryl). They are all harmless to liver but the ambien & lunesta do cause dependence so I alternate them: Ambien for a couple nights, then lunesta (which does not work as well for me) for one night. The 'dependence' is not a big deal; just means you'll have a several very sleepless nights after you quit them.
Avatar n tn I know what you are going though I have very insomnia also but only just recently I used to be able to sleep very well without any medications. I then started ativan 1mg and was able to relax enough to get to sleep I took that for four months with good results then boom I could not fall alseep with it anymore I developed a tolerence for it .
Avatar f tn You may not have experienced all the withdrawal symptoms they look for because of the additional drugs they gave you... maybe....
Avatar m tn My doc prescribed Lunesta and I took that for the first time last night - slept for only 2 hours and woke in a hot sweat. That was it for the night. It seems that my stomach pains may be stress-related and that this may be the reason I'm waking up and can't get back to sleep. I'm having a difficult time making it through the day due to lack of sleep. Also feeling kind of foggy from the meds. Never had sleep issues before my trip.
Avatar n tn June the 19th I return to the doctor for blood work to test my thyroid. Since May 22, 2008 I am having problems sleeping. I have insomnia. First it started with me being able to go to sleep and later I would wake up around 5:00am in the morning every day. Then it got worse were now I can not sleep on my own at all. I am having to take sleeping pills to sleep. I tried Ambien, Ambien CR, Lunesta, and amitriptyline. Each medicine would only let me sleep for four hours a night.
Avatar n tn I am sorry to hear your suffering from insomnia so much. I can so sympathize with you. I have had insomnia issues for twenty years or more and have tried just about everything on the market. Currently I am having the best success with progesterone treatment and relaxation techniques for sleep. Depending on your age hormone imblance may be an angle to look into. The progesterone has really helped with getting rid of migraines for me too.
Avatar n tn Do prescription drugs that are used for people like myself with chronic Insomnia cause depression? Since I have been taken Lunesta now for 8 months I have been depressed and have been prescribed Fluoxetine by my doctor. My friend Roberto has told me about a new product that is advertised on TV called Straight2sleep that he is trying. He said that it is all natural and gives him a great night sleep with no side effects. Do you know of this product and how effective is it?
Avatar m tn My psychologist told me to ask my GP about Lunesta, and a family friend said to ask about Secobarbital. But if I am not mistaken, barbiturates aren't used anymore and Lunesta is in the same class as ambien so wouldn't lunesta cause me to do crazy things I don't remember? Please help me find a sleeping medicine that will give me some relief.
Avatar n tn I want to taper off xanax. Would it be safe to take half a 1 mg. xanax with 2 mg Lunesta or would I then become dependent on the Lunesta also?
Avatar m tn I would agree with ricart....if you are getting even a little natural sleep then your better off staying away from Lunesta....I will also add that one side effect experienced frequently...myself included....is a taste like sucking on a sock full of dirty pennies...eww!!!!
1741355 tn?1311457956 Well it is day 6 no Methadone and no sleep I am sooooo tired can anyone tell me how much longer or what will help me rest?Thought about going to ER maybe lunesta or something has anyone tried these types of meds with any sucess??
Avatar f tn I've been suffering from insomnia for a few years now. Been prescribed almost every sleep aid available; the OTC's are of no benefit, and the sleep aids I have been prescribed have not been beneficial either because my tolerance to controlled substances is so high due to medicinal treatment for other chronic illnesses. Can anyone suggestion a sleep aid that has helped them achieve more than 1-1/2-2 hours of continuous sleep?
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed trazodone 100mg (I think it said mg) for my insomnia that I have suffered with for the last 15 years due to a thyroid problem I had years ago. I took it for the first time last night, but I did not fall asleep or even come close to falling asleep. I took it at 8:30pm and went to bed at 9pm, but ended up getting out of bed at 10pm because I could not sleep. The only difference I feel is a huge headache this morning.
Avatar f tn Many people have problems with insomnia on HCV treatment. Try to get even light exercise during the day, avoid daytime naps, no caffeine after noon, and if none of that helps, maybe you could ask your doctor for something like Ambien of Lunesta maybe; I assume they are available in Canada, although possibly under a different brand name. The generic name for Ambien is ‘Zolpidem’, if that helps.
Avatar f tn Zolpidem (Ambien) and eszopiclone (Lunesta) are believed to have a similar mechanism of action to treat insomnia. These drugs are believed to possess similar abuse potentials. Ramelteon (Rozerem), works differently in the body to treat insomnia. It is not considered to be a controlled substance. Zolpidem (Ambien) and eszopiclone (Lunesta) have been shown to reduce the time until sleep occurs and increase total sleep time. The sleep induced by them resembles natural sleep.
