1102799 tn?1269237714 LUNESTA!!! Although i have not taken it since being prego ...if your DR ok'd ambien then Lunesta is ok as well. It works MUCH better...i hated Ambien.
Avatar n tn Has anyone tried lunesta and experienced better sleep with it? I am afraid of trying lunesta because i dont want to feel so nausea again. I didn't take any sleep med last night...didnt have a very good sleep but still i feel nausea. I need something to help me sleep without causing nausea and to help me sleep like a baby throughout the night pleaseee.
Avatar n tn Which sleep aid is less addicting and less toxic, ambien or lunesta. I have heard ambien is hard on your liver.
Avatar n tn I have taken Lunesta. I like it better than Ambien. But there came a point where I was taken off of Lunesta because I have other health issues and i was tired all of the time and sleep wasnt a problem. Now it has become a problem again and the specialist treating my other health issues put me on Ambien. I try other things before taking the Ambien. I dont get sleepy with over the counter meds.
Avatar n tn In an attempt to ward off tolerance to Lunesta, I now alternate ( 2 weeks at a time) between Lunesta 3mg and zolpiedem ( Ambien) Since the zolpiedem has a much shorter 1/2 life than the Lunesta, I take 5mg about 11:30 and another 5mg at 3:00 or whenever I awake. The Lunesta usually allows for 6-7 hours of continuous sleep.
Avatar f tn It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.
Avatar m tn I'm taking Lunesta for insomnia, it has less side effects than Ambien (or so they say). It works well for me, but I have had to re-increase from 2mg to 3mg. I had the sleep issues of not being able to fall asleep ~and~ stay asleep. I use to take benedryl, tyenol pm, melatonin, sleep aids, and vesicare (for I.C. that is suppose to make you sleepy also), to no avail. Lunesta has been a life saver, and hopefully when my Ts get straightened out I can come off of it too.
266660 tn?1189755834 Lunesta seems to work okay for me. I've only taken it three or four times (I only take it as needed and not on a nightly basis.) I was prescribed Klonopin for anxiety and sleep and she said to not take it with Lunesta (this is after I asked *her*, she didn't mention it until then.) The Klonopin seems to work as well as the Lunesta, BTW. Kevin, I've read that Lunesta and Ambien are the same "types" of sleep aids but that is all I know. I hope Ryan can clear this up for us.
526311 tn?1229286330 okay so I've been clean from opiates for two days. Woohoo, right? But I've been taking a lot of ambien and lunesta that I had, sometimes enough to get high. SO they arn't my drug of choice but Im still technically using right? Its just really hard for me to C/T EVERYTHING. I don't know what to do. My boyfriend thinks I'm doing good just because I threw all the percs out. I feel so guilty...again.
1355301 tn?1287967641 I actually found that when I tried Lunesta (or had to switch to it from my normal Ambien because I was in the hospital and they only use Lunesta there) - that I had the same thing happen to me. As soon as I was able to go back to my normal Ambien, it stopped. I wonder if it's a side effect of the Lunesta... but maybe not since you said taking the Lunesta actually helped the situation for you.
Avatar f tn Hello again everyone! Boy it has been a very long day for me. I woke up yesterday morning a little after seven a.m. and have been awake since...unable to sleep. I have been off the Oxy's for almost a full well but ran out of my Ambien on Saturday. I am thinking the new insomnia has more to do with the Ambien than the Oxy's. I was taking 1 sometimes 2 Ambien a night to fall asleep....
620048 tn?1358018235 Meg, That sleep under the influence of a rx sleeping aid feels so good if you have been sleep deprived for a while. I can certainly relate .... Exhaustion is an enemy of MS patients and if it takes help to sleep, then so be it. That's better than putting yourself in greater risk of a relapse because you have worn yourself down.
2021910 tn?1339896686 so when I was in the Er last night they gave me Lunesta a sleeping pill to help me sleep I'm 31 w 5 d n my mom told me its not safe...is it..I mean babys fine n stuff but the hospital wouldn't give it to me if it wasent ok right ?
Avatar f tn You HAD to have gone through something after Xanax and 3 mg of Lunesta for 4 years. I just went through an Ambien taper over 4 months. I had been on Ambien for less than a year. Mostly 7.5mg a night max. When I went through vicodin withdrawal I upped the dosage to 10mg, which was my script max. I have had withdrawal symptoms galore.
202665 tn?1248806733 s a controlled release and I find that it works pretty well... Also, may want to try Lunesta, if the Ambien is no longer working for you... but those drugs are supposed to be for temporary use only... you will eventually build up a resistance to them.... I'm surprised the Trazadone isn't working..... I find that Seroquel (mood stabilizer, used to treat bi-polar) is very effective as a sedative... I take 200mg/nightly and rarely have to use an additional sleep aid......
Avatar f tn Not sure you are following this post anymore - but it has been a few years now, how are you doing?
Avatar m tn The highest available dose of Lunesta is 3mg. Recently, thought is that Lunesta, Ambien, and others in this class are very similar to benzodiazepine drugs. But I haven't read much about addiction or withdrawl from these meds. Seems like insomnia would be a given, but you could try melatonin or valerian root to combat that. Good luck either way.
Avatar m tn I would agree with ricart....if you are getting even a little natural sleep then your better off staying away from Lunesta....I will also add that one side effect experienced frequently...myself included....is a taste like sucking on a sock full of dirty pennies...eww!!!!
Avatar m tn t perfect, and there are still nights when sleep eludes me, the Ambien most definitely does make it better than it would be without it. I've also tried the 5mg Ambien and Ambien CR. The Ambien CR worked the best for me - helped me fall asleep better and helped me stay asleep, but unfortunately, my insurance stopped covering it and I simply cannot afford the cost of it on my own. So we went back to the 10mg.
Avatar f tn m sleeping much better on the Lunesta. My doctor agreed that it was probably better than the Ambien because it has been approved for long term use, but I realize using drugs isn't ideal and something I am much more aware of now that I have been through this. At first it had a terrible taste in my mouth but that has abated. A lot of people on here complain about sleep problems post-withdrawl.
Avatar f tn I started taking Ambien & Prozac in Oct 2009. I started building a resistance so my doctor prescribed for me Restoril, that didn't work so she started me on Lunesta. After I started building a resistance to the Lunesta my doctor prescribed for me Ambien CR 12.5mg. It's now March 2010 and I need 4 or more Ambien CR to sleep. I can't sleep without it!!! I haven't taken the CR 12.5mg in 24hr and I have the common addiction symptoms.
Avatar n tn Now I am post TX and the insomnia has not yet left, so they prescribed Ambien and Lunesta for me (i grew allergic to something in the benedryl). They are all harmless to liver but the ambien & lunesta do cause dependence so I alternate them: Ambien for a couple nights, then lunesta (which does not work as well for me) for one night. The 'dependence' is not a big deal; just means you'll have a several very sleepless nights after you quit them.
Avatar m tn s not really powerful! I am getting about 6 straight hours of sleep before waking up! That is much better than I was getting! My doctor offered me Ambien, but I've heard horror stories of people doing crazy things like driving while on it! Also, I don't seem to have any dreams, at least not that I can remember! I'm a little groggy when I wake up, but it passes pretty quickly once I get up and about! So for me it seems to be working well!
Avatar f tn It has since gotten gotten better not gone but better. I have never taken the riba later than 6 PM and try to take it by 5. I drink some chamomile tea about an hour and a half before I go to bed, then drink some warm milk about a half hour before bed, then right before bed I do some mild whole body streches with controled breathing probably takes about 5-10 min. Then when I get into bed and do my version of meditation again with controled breathing.
Avatar n tn My doctor prescribed me remeron and it definetely helped with sleep but it made my POTS worse than ever. My HR was above 100 all day. Does anyone have any suggestions or medications that wont fluctuate with my blood pressure and heart rate so i can get a good nights sleep?
Avatar m tn I like Tamazepam much better than Ambien. I have been taking Tamazepam for 1 year. I took Ambien off and on for 10 years ....I was sleepwalking and doing all kinds of crazy things on Ambien anytime I used it for long term use. Both make me hungry. On Ambien, I would get up and eat in my sleep. At least with Tamazepam, I remember eating a snack before bed.
