2021910 tn?1339896686 so when I was in the Er last night they gave me Lunesta a sleeping pill to help me sleep I'm 31 w 5 d n my mom told me its not safe...is it..I mean babys fine n stuff but the hospital wouldn't give it to me if it wasent ok right ?
Avatar m tn My doctor offered me Lunesta, but I'm not excited about another pill. I haven't slept much for two weeks and wondered if it was worth a try. Melatonin and Benadryl haven't helped much.
Avatar m tn From what Ive been told, Tylenol (Acetaminophen) is one of the worst things you can take when it comes to your liver. Im pretty sure the Rx drugs Ambien and Lunesta are both easier on the liver. The only downside of course being they are quite habit-forming.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've taken 6 mg lunesta, 8 mg ativan, zzzquil (benadryl with 10% alcohol). I also take Luvox and desipramine daily. Any chance this is too much? Really want to sleep but insomnia.
Avatar m tn I have Hep C and terrible insomnia- I currently take 75 mg of Benadryl each night to help me sleep. I am unable to afford medical care for my condition at this time. Is Benadryl safe to take?
968560 tn?1307451498 I had insomnia during TX and was first given a RX for Ambian - it helped & then later Lunesta but I couldn't take it - gave me this awful "metal taste" that I couldn't handle. My Dr. had told me to take Benadryl (over the counter capsules) to help with my rash (along with Hydrocortizone 1% cream) & it will make you sleepy. It did help some. I had to take naps in the day & that helped as long as I didn't sleep too long.
Avatar f tn Try Benadryl, it usually knocks you out pretty well, and is the active ingredient in most nighttime sleep aids. Just be sure to take it a few hours before hand initially, or your next day could be a bit 'foggy" .
Avatar m tn I have never used it but I know some OTC meds have the opposite effect on me...like benadryl wires me....There are some safe sleeping meds out there..talk to your doc...lunesta.....elavil...trazodone all help with sleep I take a small dose of ambien and it knocks me out....
Avatar f tn I have taken Lunesta and that still didnt help. I tried melatonin, benadryl and Lunesta and nothing helped. Looking for the answer as well. Hand in there and good luck.
Avatar n tn Do prescription drugs that are used for people like myself with chronic Insomnia cause depression? Since I have been taken Lunesta now for 8 months I have been depressed and have been prescribed Fluoxetine by my doctor. My friend Roberto has told me about a new product that is advertised on TV called Straight2sleep that he is trying. He said that it is all natural and gives him a great night sleep with no side effects. Do you know of this product and how effective is it?
519035 tn?1348275773 I was recently started on Lunesta 3mg and it works well. I have had some nights where i am wide awake and bushy tailed about 4 in the morning, but I took the Lunesta about 8pm. I'm thinking it was a little too early. I have found if I take it a little later about 930. I sleep through the night. And feel very refreshed in the morning.
Avatar f tn Hey all, so I got tired of not sleeping more than 4hrs a night after being off of Tramadol 42days and my Dr gave me Lunesta. I asked if it was addicting and he said yes but you won't buid up a tolerance to it... I would like to hear this though from someone that has taken this medication and has had to come off it... How hard was it? What where the wds like???ect.ect any info on this would be appreciated...Thank You. Jeffi.
Avatar m tn The highest available dose of Lunesta is 3mg. Recently, thought is that Lunesta, Ambien, and others in this class are very similar to benzodiazepine drugs. But I haven't read much about addiction or withdrawl from these meds. Seems like insomnia would be a given, but you could try melatonin or valerian root to combat that. Good luck either way.
Avatar f tn It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.
Avatar m tn Good Afternoon, Like Kat said, it is best to see your doctor for an evaluation. I am only familiar with the Miltary when it comes to most issues, and for sleep you must consult with a psych dr. to preach the whole 'sleep hygeine' theory before they will give you any meds. I am also 24 yr old male, and have had problems with my sleep among other issues.
Avatar f tn Amjbien is not a benzodiazepine...and it is not physically addictive...kin to lunesta in chemical make up...neither r known to be physically addictive like narcotics or benzodiazepines. Lunesta and ambien are chemically similar to benzos but not the same/they r not classified as benzos Anything someone uses for sleep can be addictive,,often mentally only unless it is in a the narc, benzo, barbituate groups etc.
Avatar n tn You have already gotten some good advice. I used the hot showers and meditation - going to my "happy place' - - - also like the benadryl ... maybe melatonin to reset the biological sleep clock ....
Avatar f tn s by an Endocrinologist and he informed me that it was one of several symptoms of my thyroid disease, I alternate between Lunesta, and Benadryl. and when I feel right, nothing at all. I switch back and forth to avoid depending on either of them. My main problem was I would have no trouble going to sleep, I would sleep for maybe 3-4 hours, wake up and not be able to go back to sleep for another two hours, by then I would just get frustrated and stay up, although I would be tired all the time.
410475 tn?1262942367 Or Lunesta. Now for 3 days i am off of it and just taking melatonin 5 mg. and L-triptophan 2 or 3 of those. I have had 2 pretty good nights actually and am hopeful that it will get even better. All of those meds are habit forming, the sleeping ones and pain ones, all except the benadryl you mentioned. While you get leveled out and off of all the other you will probably have some sleepless nights but it will get better. So, i encourage you to cut back and go to these more natural things.
380558 tn?1309042387 lunesta and ambein our being sold as nonarcotioc but over to much time who knows iam currently on lunesta coming of a year of oxy. It worked before I was a idiot and got hooked on oxy my doc gave to me and it was not addictive to fall asleep , but now on my fifth day of withdrwals from oxy it gave me 5 hrs last night with no RLS. Hopecthat helps.
980756 tn?1313445908 If that doesn’t help, you can try OTC melatonin or diphenhydramine (benadryl). You can buy these inexpensively at Walgreen’s, Kmart, etc.
266660 tn?1189755834 Lunesta seems to work okay for me. I've only taken it three or four times (I only take it as needed and not on a nightly basis.) I was prescribed Klonopin for anxiety and sleep and she said to not take it with Lunesta (this is after I asked *her*, she didn't mention it until then.) The Klonopin seems to work as well as the Lunesta, BTW. Kevin, I've read that Lunesta and Ambien are the same "types" of sleep aids but that is all I know. I hope Ryan can clear this up for us.
723660 tn?1247163511 I've been struggling with this for a long time. I can sleep 6, 7, even 8 or more hours, and still feel tired and drained in the morning. If I try and sleep too long (more than 7 hours), I feel hung over as well as tired, and develop a headache. I don't wake up in the night, don't snore, don't dream, and have only mild insomnia falling asleep at night. My last doctor prescribed zolpidem (ambien), which didn't help at all, and may have only made it worse.
Avatar n tn I am feeling better every day and the last thing i want to do is go through 4 days of feeling like c r a p. I have tried Lunesta, melatonin and benadryl with no luck. However my sleep is non-existant and so badly needed. Should i try the seroquel for a night? I have read pros and cons about it.
Avatar f tn Well, if it makes you feel any better..mine was bigger at 19.8 x 24.5 x 3 cm on the right side and three smaller 1 cm ones on the left. I had a TT Dec 3, and feel much better. I too had the choking feeling from my nodule/goiter. Mine was a nodule that increased to swell the gland causing a "goiter" aka swelling of the thyroid. I would demand (ask firmly) to have more in-depth testing done, or find a different doctor.
