Lunesta and weight changes

Common Questions and Answers about Lunesta and weight changes

lunesta

Avatar f tn A five minute snack and stretch break produces immediate results, whereas a pill will take 20-25 minutes to work, and the only side effect I have to worry about is weight loss and increase in muscle tone. As someone who always relied on the infinite brilliance of doctors and pharmaceuticals, I laughed off this advice when it was given to me a year ago. I learned the hard way that medication does not solve the problem--it only treats the symptoms, and it can lead to greater problems.
Avatar n tn I dont know why it is making me nausea. My doc then perscribed lunesta 3mg. Has anyone tried lunesta and experienced better sleep with it? I am afraid of trying lunesta because i dont want to feel so nausea again. I didn't take any sleep med last night...didnt have a very good sleep but still i feel nausea. I need something to help me sleep without causing nausea and to help me sleep like a baby throughout the night pleaseee.
1246883 tn?1285547973 The other meds I am taking should not effect my weight. I've been on them for over a year with no problems. And most of them don't have weight gain as part of their side effects. Yes, my thyroid has been checked out . Actually my hypothyroidism was diagnosed months before I start the weight gain. I've had all the tests you can imagine. The last one left is checking my cortisol level. I should those test results back next week.
Avatar f tn Hey all, so I got tired of not sleeping more than 4hrs a night after being off of Tramadol 42days and my Dr gave me Lunesta. I asked if it was addicting and he said yes but you won't buid up a tolerance to it... I would like to hear this though from someone that has taken this medication and has had to come off it... How hard was it? What where the wds like???ect.ect any info on this would be appreciated...Thank You. Jeffi.
2021910 tn?1339896686 I'm on Ambien every night, otherwise, I would only get 2 hours of sleep a night. The benefits outweigh the risks. My doctor said there is a chance of depending on it to put you to sleep, but when my newborn comes, I'll wean off of it from having to be up with him all night. I even took Ambien with my first son, and he was born picture perfect. Get some rest!
Avatar f tn It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.
Avatar m tn The highest available dose of Lunesta is 3mg. Recently, thought is that Lunesta, Ambien, and others in this class are very similar to benzodiazepine drugs. But I haven't read much about addiction or withdrawl from these meds. Seems like insomnia would be a given, but you could try melatonin or valerian root to combat that. Good luck either way.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know if thats good i tried it once and really liked it it doesnt seem to be addicting
Avatar f tn When I kept forgetting to take the second dose, he suggested the 30mg X-RAY And it seemed to work extremely well, I was not sleeping at all, had lots of stress and went through a number of different antidepressants, they all pretty much made feel hung over and generally like crap all day. He suggested Lunesta and it seemed to work enough to get atleast 6hrs of sleep and felt well rested the next day.
Avatar f tn I was wondering how doctors could miss my symptoms as they were, Fatigued, swollen calves and fingers and face, mood swings, extreme dry skin on legs and middle of back and other areas, major brain fog and insomnia so bad that for three days and nights could not sleep at all and lunesta and ambien done zip 30 mg of lunesta and not even a nod off. And weight loss lg number then weight gain also high protein in blood count I did get my doc to listen and he has me on levothyroxine 0.
Avatar n tn Now I am post TX and the insomnia has not yet left, so they prescribed Ambien and Lunesta for me (i grew allergic to something in the benedryl). They are all harmless to liver but the ambien & lunesta do cause dependence so I alternate them: Ambien for a couple nights, then lunesta (which does not work as well for me) for one night. The 'dependence' is not a big deal; just means you'll have a several very sleepless nights after you quit them.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Cymbalta and Xanax at the same time for more than a year. In fact, I lost almost 30 lbs. Don't think negative. I think it depends. Some gain and sone lose weight...not sure why... Thanks!
Avatar m tn I would get a full 7 hours. The main problem with Remeron is the extreme weight gain, and the combo of Remeron and Ambien made me sleepwalk. Since I'm now pregnant, I'm not allowed to take these drugs, but found another alternative therapy. Lately, I've been taking two Benadryl at 11pm and then when I wake up at 3am, I take another Benadryl. I'm still not sleeping that well, but this has been the best therapy for me so far for pregnancy.
Avatar m tn to no avail. saw a sleep specialist and he put me on both seroquel to be taken with Lunesta. it all went downhill from there. to make a long story short, this is when i started having panic attacks. So it was time for me to take some time off of work and see a psychiatrist, since that is what the ER physician recommended. My 1st psyc put me on 10 mg. of lexapro and 30 mg of temazepan and it was HORRIFYING.
Avatar m tn its been 2 days on That dose, tday im gonna try not to take it. My Doc prescribed me some 350mg soma for the pain and lunesta for sleep. Im going to try taking soma if the pain becomes unbearable, any advice pls?
Avatar f tn I am currently taking 2mg lunesta ($9 with copay and lunesta discount card), which helps me sleep..and ~sleep~ is needed for weight loss, good feelings and such. I have had intermediate night sweats, which I found out today from my endo ~is~ a part of being hypothyroid. I have not gone through what my dear husband calls "minnow's pause", but a ~good~ endo will check ~all~ your hormones if you go in with your list of symptoms. I hope you feel better, and you sound hypo to me.
Avatar m tn this is just my experience, and I'm not on tx yet...I can't take Lunesta and ambien, ambien makes me feel nutzo the next morning, but many people are fine with it...I take ativan if I have had a lot of sleepless nights in a row, and at a very low dose...I find tranquilizers lull me into sleep, which I prefer...best of luck...
1008841 tn?1293598960 I've been taking ambian off and on for years. It's beginning not to work. But, everytime I ask the doctors for something else to help me sleep or something for anziety. They give me antidepressants. I don't want antidepressants. I almost died from antidepressants. I took Zoloft for years. Until they came up with Cembolta(SP). It sounded perfect. I asked the Doctor switch me. She did. I almost died. I didn't go back on Zoloft, and guess what I felt better.
Avatar n tn I never tried remeron, but ambien was horrible and so was resterol the taste of the lunesta that it leaves in your mouth is horrible so there is no easy answer but I did find the ativan did help for a while and I still take it with the lunesta and I agree if I get a good nights sleep the next day is much better.
Avatar f tn Way back this summer my periods started coming every two weeks, facial hair started coming in, and I started sleeping less. I am only 42. With every period i strated sleeping less and less and now with my surgery only 16 days away, I can not sleep at all. I have a clear cyst on my left ovary a solid one on my right. My GYN is taking the entire right ovary, and the cyst off the left. My uterus is a whole other story. It has to come out also. Nothing changes the amout of bleeding.
Avatar n tn I had attempted another NDT, Naturethroid, and put on a good amount of weight and lost quite a bit of hair. So, out of network, I saw a doctor willing to work with supplements and hormones and returned to a combo of Levoxyl/Cytomel, will bring in Selenium, some B12 and an Adrenal Support. Also recommended was a very small amount of liquid Iodine 1-2 x a week. Here are the past two labs and the medication doses I was on.
266660 tn?1189755834 ) I was prescribed Klonopin for anxiety and sleep and she said to not take it with Lunesta (this is after I asked *her*, she didn't mention it until then.) The Klonopin seems to work as well as the Lunesta, BTW. Kevin, I've read that Lunesta and Ambien are the same "types" of sleep aids but that is all I know. I hope Ryan can clear this up for us.
Avatar f tn You might try taking a combination of Valerian and Melatonin when you stop the Lunesta. I was taking Lunesta in my early withdrawals and it did make me sleep, but that nasty taste was to much for me. I must say I haven't really slept really well since, but the herbs I mention do help somewhat, I take a hot bath before bed then I take them. From what I've heard Lunesta withdrawals are mainly mental, but you can get addicted to just about anything.
Avatar f tn Use palmers coco butter to prevent stretch marks. Or at least make them less noticable if you do get them. Keep a handle on your weight gain. And ask your dr about continuing working out or starting to work out while you're pregnant. :). I do yoga and walk and do light weight lifting. .you'll get your body back. Just takes a little work!
Avatar f tn Recently, i have been on night duty every other week. I am having to use Lunesta to hep me sleep during the day but would rather use something more natural- I was thinking of melatonin- there seems to be conflicting reports about it's effect with autoimmune diseases. I have been stable for a few years- has anyone with Hashi's actually used it?
Avatar f tn The rapid weight gain bothered me at first but making a few changes to my diet and replacing things like fruit juice or soda with water a lot of the time helped even it out. I'm almost 30 weeks now and I've been unhappy with every change my body has made and I'm just now learning to accept it as part of the journey because I can't do anything about a lot if these changes. The stretch marks are the worst!
Avatar f tn My weight is up and down....ugh i feel so bad out of 3wks i only gained 1pound i think im loosing more calories by working 12hr shifts for 3days constantly walking...
