Lunesta and valerian

Common Questions and Answers about Lunesta and valerian

lunesta

Avatar m tn The highest available dose of Lunesta is 3mg. Recently, thought is that Lunesta, Ambien, and others in this class are very similar to benzodiazepine drugs. But I haven't read much about addiction or withdrawl from these meds. Seems like insomnia would be a given, but you could try melatonin or valerian root to combat that. Good luck either way.
Avatar f tn Hey all, so I got tired of not sleeping more than 4hrs a night after being off of Tramadol 42days and my Dr gave me Lunesta. I asked if it was addicting and he said yes but you won't buid up a tolerance to it... I would like to hear this though from someone that has taken this medication and has had to come off it... How hard was it? What where the wds like???ect.ect any info on this would be appreciated...Thank You. Jeffi.
Avatar f tn doc said lunesta interacts with thyroid meds, I just stopped it and went back on valerian...until i found some old Klonopin. It doe help but makes me sleepier than valerian, plus I don't like the side-effects I've read about...especially its possible effect on the mammary glands, etc. I don't know. Maybe I'll alternate between the valerian and the Klonopin, and only on as as needed basis. I am trying to keep my prozac at 40 ml, as more than that does keep me awake at night.
Avatar f tn Recently, i have been on night duty every other week. I am having to use Lunesta to hep me sleep during the day but would rather use something more natural- I was thinking of melatonin- there seems to be conflicting reports about it's effect with autoimmune diseases. I have been stable for a few years- has anyone with Hashi's actually used it?
Avatar m tn I've been going for walks every night after dinner, I have some sleepy time tea in the house, I'll try a cup tonight and then take my lunesta maybe it will help, I've tried valerian and melatonin in the past and they don't work for me, I've been on ambien or lunesta so long nothing else really helps me
Avatar f tn You might try taking a combination of Valerian and Melatonin when you stop the Lunesta. I was taking Lunesta in my early withdrawals and it did make me sleep, but that nasty taste was to much for me. I must say I haven't really slept really well since, but the herbs I mention do help somewhat, I take a hot bath before bed then I take them. From what I've heard Lunesta withdrawals are mainly mental, but you can get addicted to just about anything.
454795 tn?1205936319 I took lunesta myself, and it also gave me a horrible taste in my mouth, but that's one of the side effects of the lunesta. my husband took it b4 & he didnt have the bad taste, but i sure did! it was ughhh, but i fell asleep shortly after!!!
Avatar f tn ABN has given you some good herbs. I used Valerian Root and actually slept 8 hours a night during detox. Trazadone is actually an older anti depressant. Yes, it does help sleep, but you may need weaned off of it. I noticed I needed to mix things up. Valerian one night, then maybe Tylenol PM then back to Valerian. Perhaps try some of what ABN told you first. L-Tryptophan works well too.
Avatar f tn Iv been on Valerian Root capsules for about a week now and its worked wonders! Its just pure valerian, nothing else. I take 2 per night and its only $8 per 100 capsules so not too terrible on the wallet. I bought them at a helath food store. Hope this helps! Its also safe while your pregnant.
1741355 tn?1311457956 Hello everyone!!! Well it is day 6 no Methadone and no sleep I am sooooo tired can anyone tell me how much longer or what will help me rest?Thought about going to ER maybe lunesta or something has anyone tried these types of meds with any sucess??
Avatar n tn melatonin and/or valerian root are both on the vitamin aisle at your local drug store. i found the valerian more helpful myself. potassium for those legs. hot baths anytime night or day. good luck!
1017452 tn?1254904998 at 50 mgs it will knock most out/most at 25 mgs...ambien works better for many than lunesta and they r very similar in chemical make-up...but both are also similar to benzos...not benzos but people with a high tolerence to benzos have troyuble with ambien and lunesta for sleep..but i cant recall if he did benzos or not?
Avatar m tn I know one of the last things to come back is the "nice" sleep. Just curious if anyone feels like they've got that yet? I looonng for a good nights sleep.
Avatar n tn But there came a point where I was taken off of Lunesta because I have other health issues and i was tired all of the time and sleep wasnt a problem. Now it has become a problem again and the specialist treating my other health issues put me on Ambien. I try other things before taking the Ambien. I dont get sleepy with over the counter meds. So that I dont get so worried about addiction, I take my Xanax instead of the Ambien periodically. But NEVER EVER take them together.
Avatar m tn It works quite well. It contains Melatonin, Valerian root, and Tryptophan; amino acids and safe to take as long as you're not on an antidepressant. Lack of sleep is just awful, I know. Some of the herbal teas are helpful as well. Read the label first.
Avatar m tn valium is a safer benzo/still addicting but not as strong as xanax....there r safer sleep meds..ambien and lunesta altho i have heard of people abusing those as well...not physically addicting as a rule tho....valerian root and ambien is what i used...many like melatonin...then there is benadryl which is usually the ingrediend in otc sleep aids like tylenol pm....anything a person uses every night to sleep can become mentally habit forming tho..even nyquil!
Avatar f tn benedryl helped me, but I also take klonopin (fibromyalgia - no sleep), and a nice hot bath before bed too! congrats on day 12...what an accomplishment, I'm on day 6 and last night I slept decent enough, but I'm still dragging! You''ll make it!
Avatar n tn I dont know why it is making me nausea. My doc then perscribed lunesta 3mg. Has anyone tried lunesta and experienced better sleep with it? I am afraid of trying lunesta because i dont want to feel so nausea again. I didn't take any sleep med last night...didnt have a very good sleep but still i feel nausea. I need something to help me sleep without causing nausea and to help me sleep like a baby throughout the night pleaseee.
Avatar f tn Usually by now I would be sleeping...Its bee 32 hours since my last piece of sub...I'm sweaty and have a constant feeling to move around....Im not sure if ive psyched myself into feeling this way because of reading all of the responses....or am I already starting to feel the effects of stopping sub?
Avatar f tn Lexapro is an anti-depressant, with some positive affects on anxiety, but it also has side effects, so it seems strong and wrong for what you have and it can be hard to quit taking if you're on it a long time -- the body has a hard time readjusting to not having serotonin artificially affected. I wouldn't think that's a good choice for a start here, nor would I Lunesta, in my opinion, since sleeping pills can leave one drowsy and bother REM sleep, as can Lexapro and clonazepam.
Avatar f tn s by an Endocrinologist and he informed me that it was one of several symptoms of my thyroid disease, I alternate between Lunesta, and Benadryl. and when I feel right, nothing at all. I switch back and forth to avoid depending on either of them. My main problem was I would have no trouble going to sleep, I would sleep for maybe 3-4 hours, wake up and not be able to go back to sleep for another two hours, by then I would just get frustrated and stay up, although I would be tired all the time.
Avatar m tn I've taken ambien and lunesta. All sorts of problems with ambien including abuse. None of those issues with lunesta. It's still a hypnotic and anyone taking them should be educated about the drug and cautious about its use.
Avatar m tn without it we become weak Phenergan an anti-nausea drug//most drs will call in for a tummy virus/is a good sleep aid...muscle relaxers like zanaflex can help too...ambien and lunesta should be used with caution by addicts but not as dangerous as benzos like xanax..talk to ur dr also try getting ur room really cold at night..bundle up and throw off blankets as needed...cold slows metabolism..
526311 tn?1229286330 it sounds like you are already taking too much of both the Lunesta and Ambien..(why both) are you taking so much of them to try and get high??I understand how hard it is to get some sleep during and after w/ds..but in this case..the old saying..if 1 is good...2 is better...NOT SO..You are going to end up with a dependancy on sleep meds and possibly harm yourself..please be careful..
Avatar n tn However, I still hae terrible sleep problems. I am on Lunesta 2 mg. I have been taking Lunesta for 2 years now every night. Sometimes I sleep , sometimes I don't. When I do sleep, I only sleep for about 5 hours. If any thing is bothering me whether it bothers me a little or alot I don;t sleep, or I sleep a little at a time and wake up. No matter how tired i am I start feeling awake around 11:00 at night. Sometimes this awake feeling subsides around 1:30 in the morning.
Avatar f tn I just can't fall asleep at all. I've tried lunesta, ambien, restoril and risperdal, Trazadone and serequel. Thinking about asking for remeron.. Any ideas of what might work?
380558 tn?1309042387 lunesta and ambein our being sold as nonarcotioc but over to much time who knows iam currently on lunesta coming of a year of oxy. It worked before I was a idiot and got hooked on oxy my doc gave to me and it was not addictive to fall asleep , but now on my fifth day of withdrwals from oxy it gave me 5 hrs last night with no RLS. Hopecthat helps.
Avatar m tn t just target one system (valerian and kava mainly target GABA, as benzos do but with milder action and no addiction or withdrawal reported). An overall approach would combine relaxants with adrenal support with perhaps amino acids that affect serotonin. Again as to "most powerful," most would say California poppy is stronger than valerian, but makes people even drowsier, and opium, which is an herb after all, is even stronger still.
