Common Questions and Answers about Lunesta and thyroid

lunesta

Avatar f tn I am slow to check things out, part of the reason I could be in this trouble with Hep C, but I looked at the Lunesta and it says not to take over 2mg if you have liver problems. ? I don't take it every night. But this has made me question all the drugs I am on. My tx doses are 1,000 riba and the interferon. And I am doing the white blood cell shot also once a week. This is a lot of drugs to me! Does anyone else take these?
Avatar f tn feel like lead all day and then had horrid insomnia...rinse and repeat. I am currently taking 2mg lunesta ($9 with copay and lunesta discount card), which helps me sleep..and ~sleep~ is needed for weight loss, good feelings and such. I have had intermediate night sweats, which I found out today from my endo ~is~ a part of being hypothyroid.
Avatar f tn I was wondering how doctors could miss my symptoms as they were, Fatigued, swollen calves and fingers and face, mood swings, extreme dry skin on legs and middle of back and other areas, major brain fog and insomnia so bad that for three days and nights could not sleep at all and lunesta and ambien done zip 30 mg of lunesta and not even a nod off. And weight loss lg number then weight gain also high protein in blood count I did get my doc to listen and he has me on levothyroxine 0.
Avatar n tn I am having to take sleeping pills to sleep. I tried Ambien, Ambien CR, Lunesta, and amitriptyline. Each medicine would only let me sleep for four hours a night. So I am taking the Lunesta right now. But it is very hard functioning during the day as I am very fatigued. My body previously was use to getting 8 hours of sleep a day. Do you know of any other medicines that would help with longer sleep? How long does it usually take for the sleep to return on its own?
327369 tn?1326119908 Please post your thyroid test results and reference ranges. What thyroid meds are you taking and what is daily dose?
Avatar n tn I dont know why it is making me nausea. My doc then perscribed lunesta 3mg. Has anyone tried lunesta and experienced better sleep with it? I am afraid of trying lunesta because i dont want to feel so nausea again. I didn't take any sleep med last night...didnt have a very good sleep but still i feel nausea. I need something to help me sleep without causing nausea and to help me sleep like a baby throughout the night pleaseee.
Avatar m tn I have read that taking Doxylamine (Unisom) lowers thyroid hormone output. Has anyone had any experience with this? I take Unisom regularly as it seems to work the best out of all the other sleep aids.
Avatar f tn What was the diagnosed cause of your hypothyroidism? Do you have any other symptoms besides the ones posted? What thyroid med and dosage? Please post your thyroid test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report. Also, if tested for Vitamin D and B12, please post those also.
Avatar n tn Which sleep aid is less addicting and less toxic, ambien or lunesta. I have heard ambien is hard on your liver.
1139187 tn?1355706647 I get the same thing once in a while, the dizzy spells on and off, but no special time of the day, they are not specific, the same thing with insomnia, it comes and goes, some nights I will sleep straight through like seven hours, and others I will only sleep 5 and thats with taking #3 Lunesta. I get the symptoms and I am taking meds, I just started on Armour a week ago, I have those same symptoms now, but I hope it is just the transition period.
Avatar f tn s by an Endocrinologist and he informed me that it was one of several symptoms of my thyroid disease, I alternate between Lunesta, and Benadryl. and when I feel right, nothing at all. I switch back and forth to avoid depending on either of them. My main problem was I would have no trouble going to sleep, I would sleep for maybe 3-4 hours, wake up and not be able to go back to sleep for another two hours, by then I would just get frustrated and stay up, although I would be tired all the time.
Avatar f tn Hey all, so I got tired of not sleeping more than 4hrs a night after being off of Tramadol 42days and my Dr gave me Lunesta. I asked if it was addicting and he said yes but you won't buid up a tolerance to it... I would like to hear this though from someone that has taken this medication and has had to come off it... How hard was it? What where the wds like???ect.ect any info on this would be appreciated...Thank You. Jeffi.
2021910 tn?1339896686 I'm on Ambien every night, otherwise, I would only get 2 hours of sleep a night. The benefits outweigh the risks. My doctor said there is a chance of depending on it to put you to sleep, but when my newborn comes, I'll wean off of it from having to be up with him all night. I even took Ambien with my first son, and he was born picture perfect. Get some rest!
Avatar f tn It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.
Avatar m tn The highest available dose of Lunesta is 3mg. Recently, thought is that Lunesta, Ambien, and others in this class are very similar to benzodiazepine drugs. But I haven't read much about addiction or withdrawl from these meds. Seems like insomnia would be a given, but you could try melatonin or valerian root to combat that. Good luck either way.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know if thats good i tried it once and really liked it it doesnt seem to be addicting
458072 tn?1291415186 NOTHING seems to help. Between the thyroid and the adrenals and severe insomnia, I feel like a slug. No motivation, or interest. I am unable to work at this point. Need to, but can't. My memory is so bad, its embarassing. My appt with my new endo is this coming tuesday. I am hoping this will be just the right one. If not, I have a back up appt for another one in Sept. I had thought of seeing a chiropractor to see if they could help.
Avatar f tn When I kept forgetting to take the second dose, he suggested the 30mg X-RAY And it seemed to work extremely well, I was not sleeping at all, had lots of stress and went through a number of different antidepressants, they all pretty much made feel hung over and generally like crap all day. He suggested Lunesta and it seemed to work enough to get atleast 6hrs of sleep and felt well rested the next day.
1355301 tn?1287967641 I actually found that when I tried Lunesta (or had to switch to it from my normal Ambien because I was in the hospital and they only use Lunesta there) - that I had the same thing happen to me. As soon as I was able to go back to my normal Ambien, it stopped. I wonder if it's a side effect of the Lunesta... but maybe not since you said taking the Lunesta actually helped the situation for you.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed ambien before I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer about 6 weeks ago. It was a miracle pill for 4 days and after that it really didn't help me sleep. It did turn my mind off and slow things down, but sometimes I am still awake hours after taking this. Everyone is different and I sure think that it is worth a try! Good luck with it!
1246883 tn?1285547973 how much seroquel are you taking? try to lower the dose, seroquel is used as sleeping aid at around 25 to 100mg approximately. You can try some antidepressant to control your appetite. I definitely do not recommend ambien or lunesta, for long term treatment of insomnia. They have a very short life in your body and it which builds up tolerance quickly. The so called "z" drugs ambien and lunesta (zolpidem, zopiclone, zaleplon and eszopiclone) are for short term insomnia only.
Avatar n tn Now I am post TX and the insomnia has not yet left, so they prescribed Ambien and Lunesta for me (i grew allergic to something in the benedryl). They are all harmless to liver but the ambien & lunesta do cause dependence so I alternate them: Ambien for a couple nights, then lunesta (which does not work as well for me) for one night. The 'dependence' is not a big deal; just means you'll have a several very sleepless nights after you quit them.
Avatar f tn s sleep in ages because of the hyperthyroidism and now they want to lower my dose again. I have been on Lunesta for at least 3 years and am gradually weaning myself off of it because I do not feel it is a good thing to be taking. Even on Lunesta, I do not sleep well. No one has ever been able to explain the thyroid and the role of replacement hormone to me so that I have a good, working knowledge of how things work. I am very frustrated.
Avatar m tn its been 2 days on That dose, tday im gonna try not to take it. My Doc prescribed me some 350mg soma for the pain and lunesta for sleep. Im going to try taking soma if the pain becomes unbearable, any advice pls?
Avatar f tn As for the thyroid - they did only moderate testing. TSH is a pituitary test and that is low (TSH runs backwards!) and the lab is using an old range - it is supposed to be .3 to 3.0. The T4 is the storage but the T3 was not tested which shows what the thyroid is using. The doc could also run antibodies to see if you have an auto-immune thing going on. Did you have a sleep study? If your heart is racing at night - any heart studies?
Avatar m tn this is just my experience, and I'm not on tx yet...I can't take Lunesta and ambien, ambien makes me feel nutzo the next morning, but many people are fine with it...I take ativan if I have had a lot of sleepless nights in a row, and at a very low dose...I find tranquilizers lull me into sleep, which I prefer...best of luck...
Avatar n tn I never tried remeron, but ambien was horrible and so was resterol the taste of the lunesta that it leaves in your mouth is horrible so there is no easy answer but I did find the ativan did help for a while and I still take it with the lunesta and I agree if I get a good nights sleep the next day is much better.
Avatar m tn am taking lexapro, lamotrigine, lithium carbonate for depression, ocd and mod swings. also take others for thyroid, blood pressure, acidity, etc. have been taking depression/ocd medicines for over 15 yers now, but they have been changed. wotk and sometimes exemplified for alertness and capacity for hard work. lately find that i cannot sleep well max.
